Everything was fine till I formatted my HDD and installed Windows 7 (wanted to try it).
I have a HDMI cable from my laptop Aspire 5738ZG to my PHILIPS HD Ready TV. Now the picture shows just fine but I've got no sound at all on my TV.
I have tried reinstalling a lot of drivers without success . If anyone knows what's causing this problem please tell me, as I really want sound on my TV while watching movies etc.
I recently bought the Acer Aspire E1-432. It runs Windows 8.1. When I use HDMI to watch movies on my TV, the sound is not played by the TV but by the notebook. I looked on the internet for solutions for this problem and encountered two recurring possibilities.
1) Go to sound manager, show disabled devices and select the HDMI as main audio output.
When I go to sound manager and try the above solution, I can not select anything but the default audio. It does not matter if I plugged in the HDMI cable or not nor does it work to select the HDMI source on the TV. The option does not appear in sound manager.
2) Update the HD realtek audio driver.
I tried removing the driver and letting the notebook update the driver itself. Again it did not work. Secondly, I downloaded the newest version of the HD Realtek Audio Driver I could find (6.0.1.7027) and installed over the old version. Again, this did not work.
Any solution, applicable on this type of laptop, that might do the job?
By the way, chromecast works fine, using the same HDMI port. The cable works as well, for a different laptop of mine is able to produce audio with the exact same cable and same HDMI port.
I have a hard drive of 500 GB on windows vista ultimate. When I installed vista on it I forgot to make 2 partitions so I made a 500 gb partition, which i don't like. I had ~80 GB used out of 500. Using vista's computer management I've managed to create a partition of ~140 GB, from the free space of the 500 GB partiton. I don't understand why it won't let me create a 350 GB partition, since there was about 400 GB free... Anyway, now I have a 300 GB partition with 100 GB used and windows vista ultimate on it and a 140 GB partition with 50 GB used. How can I make the windows partition of 150 GB and the second one from 140 into ~300 without having to reinstall windows / format ? Vista's computer management doesn't let me do this, i don't know why exactly.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just bought a laptop (acer aspire 5738ZG) and i've been having some problems installing windows vista. When I first turned on the laptop a windows vista home edition installation started. There was no dvd in it, it was something like acer recovery (i don't remember exactly). I didn't want vista home edition, so I cancelled the installation. I inserted the Vista Ultimate DVD and I couldn't install it. The error message is "Windows could not update the computer's boot configuration. Installation cannot proceed". I tried again to install Vista Ultimate, but this error kept appearing. So I removed the vista ultimate dvd and restarted the laptop. The vista home edition installation appeared again but it too encountered an error message ("Fail to get image's DAT file.").
I also tried installing windows xp and got a blue screen error..
I have a Ferrari 5004wlmi running vista business and have just bought a Sony KDL40V4000 40" LCD TV. I had great plans of plugging the notebook into tv with HDMI cable to watch movies etc. I can get picture on the TV but no sound. I did a bit of hunting round the web and found this is a pretty common problem. But, for me i am yet to find a solution.
I tried updating my audio drivers from the Realtek website but i wasnt really sure which one to install, they have just updated their website with quite a few and i dont know the correct one for this notebook. I emailed them asking for help but they have not replied. I have emailed Acer but got a reply that did not help at all.
In my readings i see that by right clicking on the speaker icon in taskbar then 'playback devices' I should be able to select HDMI cable but i do not get this option; only "Speakers" and "Realtek Digital Output". If i select the digital output option and cross my fingers, touch wood and hold my tongue in the right position i do sometimes get sound coming through the TV.
Seems to be quite a process for it to work though; i turn tv and notebook off, plug hdmi into notebook, turn on tv, turn on notebook, then about 15 seconds before vista finshes starting up i select HDMI on tv and if i am very lucky the sound will work, if it doesnt i restart notebook and then it may work or it may not.
This seems really fickle to me which makes me think something needs fixing. Even if everything is plugged in and working but then i leave it for awhile or watch normal tv then try the notebook again the sound will be gone again.
I see there was a HDMI update on realtek which i installed but it said no driver was supported once it had finished installing, i had the hdmi cable plugged in at the time.
What are the correct drivers to download from Realtek for a Ferrari 5004?
Why do i not get the option for HDMI cable on 'playback devices' do i need it?
Should i really have to go through the above procedure for things to work correctly or should i just be able to plug notebook into tv at any stage?
im trying to setup my uncles new laptop but i couldnt get any sound to output over hdmi
i disabled the nvidia thing and realtek from the sound properties in control panel then couldnt find how ot make them reappear i managed to uninstall the realtek then restart and it installed it again so i got sound on the laptop
but the nvidia hdmi still hasnt reappeared
should i uninstall it too and hope it will reinstall it automatically
after that how do i make it output sound through the hdmi to his tv
I had tried that already, sadly still stale results with no change. Tomorrow I'm planning on buying different HDMI cables to see if it's a hardware issue, I don't want to take my computer in if it's happening to all three (I read somewhere that it may be the cord itself) .....

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've bought an Acer Aspire 5738ZG notebook not so long ago, it came with Windows Vista OS. I'm using it with that OS since 2 weeks now, but i decided to change to OS to Windows XP, cuz I like that more.
My problem is that after I boot the install CD of XP, the process crashed after some time, at this point. It gives me a blue screen, and asks me to restart the notebook. I really want to use XP,
I just bought a Aspire E5-571G-583R and I'm trying to get 5.1 sound from it. I've connected the laptop HDMI to my home theatre system which supports both Dolby Digital and DTS, not working. I've also tried to my LG LED-TV which supports Dolby Digital, that's also a no go. I've installed the latest Realtek drivers from your download pages (6.0.1.7250). The problem, as far as I can tell, is that it uses the Intel display sound driver instead of Realtek HD sound driver on the HDMI port. I have tried to change the driver on the HDMI device to Realtek but then I got the win 8.1 version of the BoD.
So I guess I've two questions:
1. Is it possible to force the Realtek driver on the HDMI in order to get 5.1 sound?
2. If not, how do I get 5.1 sound from the laptop?
In Windows 7 on my aspire 0722 I can find no tabs for playback - when I go the Sound settings my only option is the Conexant speakers in the netbook. I get great video though my hdmi cable. I have checked and I am up to date on my Win 7 updates. Is there some new driver download I should be trying?

I just recently purchased an HDMI compatible television, for the purpose of extending the screen on my Acer Aspire E1-510P-4402.
At first, I thought it might have been either a faulty HDMI cable, or television. This is not the case, however. The television works perfectly fine on another computer, using the same HDMI cable.
Since I isolated the problem to the laptop not recognizing it, I tried to reboot my laptop, yielding no result on the second screen.
I also downloaded the latest version of the VGA Driver (Intel HD Graphics) from the Acer driver support site, then uninstalling the driver in Device Manager (and removing the driver files) -> rebooting -> reinstalling the driver (to be 100% certain of the latest version) -> then rebooting again. This also did not work:
I also did the same thing with the Intel Chipset driver, seeing as it may have been a conflict between them. This resulted in no effect.
As a final measure, I also downloaded the Intel driver updater and installed it. The updater told me that a generic version of the driver may not work, and to contact the manufacturer for support with it.

I am trying to connect by HDMI to a TV.
TV says no signal.
Have toggled through all of the options with the fn f5 and f6 keys and also the Windows button/P also.
My screen would go black on some options but still no signal on the TV.
Went in the Device Manager to see if the HDMI port is there with the USB's.
Could not find. Is this possible issue or something else?
I have an Acer Aspire V3-572g. My laptop came with windows 8.1 installed already. Currently, my pc is being reset to factory settings because I can not figure out how to keep the hdmi from going out after windows updates. The only way I can keep get the hdmi port to work is the factory reset it. The only way from keeping the hdmi working is by turning off windows updater. However, I'd like to figure out how to keep the hdmi working without doing so. My graphics card is Nvidia 840 M. Here are a list of things I've done after my laptop stops recognizing the hdmi.
Uninstall and reinstall the display drivers, both from intel and Nvidia
Update the drivers to be up to date
Downloaded intel's utility manager to keep driver update to date
Downloaded factory installed drivers from Acer's website
Contacting microsoft and have them remotely connect to my laptop
Restored back my laptop to previous working conditions (although the hdmi never worked by going to a restore point)
Swapped hdmi cords and displays
After several hours of researching and trying different things I'm stumped. I bought this computer with the sole purpose of connecting it to a TV. I've also had this issue with another laptop which I returned. This problem isn't a hardware problem as I'm connected to the same monitor with an old desktop using the same cords. I'm guessing there is a compatability issue with windows and the display drivers when there is an update.
After upgrade to 8.1 HDMI port didn't work. Followed instructions to correct BIOS and graphice driver; HDMI works - however Silverlight no longer working with DMS.
Get error 6036 in Silverlight which is Graphics device's driver certificate is invalid

Just updated to Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit. Everything seems to be working fantastic! But it seems the audio driver isn't right, as the sub isn't working and there's no mention of it in the Sound settings. The driver Acer supplies on their website for the Acer Aspire 6920 with Windows Vista Premium x32 also lacks this.
Where can I download the appropriate driver?
i have an acer 9303WSMi. i was watching a video on youtube, but the sound wasnt working properly. so i restarted my computer, and when it began to turn back on, the screen remained blank, and it made 1 long beep sound, followed by 2 short ones. i have looked this up and it apparently means that it has a problem with my graphics card. now i have 2 quesions. firstly, can my lapotop be fixed by me? secondly if not can it be fixed if i send it off to someone, and iof so roughly how long will it take for it to be fixed and returned to me?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently got this laptop, Acer Aspire E5-521-23kh with windows 8.1. I have it set up as a desktop so to speak, using a monitor with hdmi cable, wireless keyboard and mouse, and have speakers that use the headphone jack. Just yesterday I started having issues with the sound, it would suddenly turn off even with my speakers powered on. Restarting the computer, or disabling the speakers and then enabling them works, but it turns off eventually. And today I've had the sound working but has static/distortions with the sound.
I don't think it's an issue with the plug in speakers, as I've unplugged them and sound still wasn't coming out of the laptop speakers. But using troubleshooting for windows, it says there are no problems with sound. I've checked in device manager, and under audio inputs/output I've checked that all devices had up to date drivers. I've only had this laptop for a month, and what the cause could be.
I'm having issues getting sound to pass through to my TVs via HDMI. I've set HDMI as the default and the sound still only comes through the laptop when playing back blurays

everything is working just great...until I wanted to connect my laptop to my new philips tv via HDMI..
(before I was doing that all the time with Toshiba TV with no issues at all!)... so no I have no sound.
To cut the long story short....it is not an issue with sound card (playback devices selected HDMI one...and the equalizer actually moves...), the TV has no issues since it works perfectly with dvd using the same cable.
When I connect my laptop to my tv the sound does no come out the tv, but remains coming out the pc speakers. it is not a cable issue as my other hp laptop works fine. i can't find a setting to change it to hdmi audio output.
View 2 Replies View RelatedOkay, well the day before yesterday I was trying to watch Youtube but when I clicked on a video it had no sound. I thought it was Youtube, so I exited the site and thought I'd wait a little bit. So then I went to Spotify to listen to some music. I kept clicking and clicking and nothing was happening. Then I noticed a blue notice at the top that said something about my soundcard not working properly.
I then checked everything on my computer to see if it had sound. Windows Media Player...no, videos on Facebook...nope, nothing was working. At first I thought it was my daughter. I let her watch Youtube when she lays down for a nap. I came in the other day and she was hitting all kinds of buttons on my computer. I stopped her though and everything seemed fine. I also remember my computer updating that day. Could it be that something went wrong with the update? I don't know if that's possible or not.
And also, what is a soundcard. Do I have to buy it or do I download it???
I went to Yahoo answers and someone said to uninstall the drivers. I did that and then reinstalled them and it worked. The rest of that day I had sound on everything except for Facebook. Yesterday night it happened again and the sound has not returned since but my computer sounds are still working. When I logged on the computer made the log in sound it usually makes. I also tried to listen to a video with headphones and it still did not work. Again, I uninstalled the drivers and then re installed them and got nothing.
After reinstalling Windows on my mother's 3000 WLMi, everything works as expected, except there is no sound. I have tried installing drivers off the Acer website, and checking all the sound controls, but to no avail.

Windows problem report suggested to update video drivers, so from nvidia website i found new drivers (version 185.85).
Everything updated well, but then I tried to connect to LCD TV through HDMI i run into the problem:
the was no sound. I've changed to HDMI output in control panel (usually that way sound was working) and still cannot hear anything. Strange that with old drivers i was able to configure HDMI sound, but with new drivers this function is disabled. Rolled back and sound started to work.
