I updated it to Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit using the disk Acer sent me about a month ago, but never checked to see if any games work until today. Stupid, I know. I put in the CD, the game starts to load up and then it goes to a black screen. It always did this when I had Vista too, but it usually came back on and the game was loaded up. Its stuck there then and I'm forced to hold down the power button and restart the computer.
I updated the driver for the Nvidia GeForce GT 130M to its latest (mainly because I have no clue what to do and thought to myself "yeah, that sounds like something that might be wrong with it"), but no change.
I recently bought the laptop in my sig. I could have paid an extra £100 for a Blu-Ray drive and 500GB HDD, but I chose not to. I don't necessarily regret this, but I'll probably want to upgrade to a Blu-Ray drive at some point.
Does anyone know what Blu-Ray drive comes with this laptop? Or if any other Blu-Ray drives work? I'm not interested in recording, just standard playback.
just bought a computer: Acer Aspire 5739G wireless card: intel wifi link 5100 -all drivers up to date
when i started to connect my wireless network 9 feet away(it has full connection) it said could't connect to network. Then i desided to try right beside the router and it worked. then when i walked from the router(5 feet) the connection sais limited connection. 8 feet no connection the same happened when i tryed to do it at my friend.
I've recently purchased the Aspire 5739G off Newegg and would like to install XP on the machine. Fortunately, there are official XP drivers for this model on the Acer support website. I've downgraded before and know the procedure of slipstreaming the SATA drivers. Which drivers do I slipstream for this model? I noticed on the drivers page there is a SATA AHCI Driver. Is this the driver to slipstream?
I just recently bought a Acer Aspire 5739G and installed Windows 7 64 bit. All the bells and whistles are working except the fingerprint reader and the bluetooth.
I've tried a multitude of drivers from the manufacturers website and the acer driver website but to no avail.
Any attempt to install the bluetooth drivers asks for the device to be plugged in or turned on and pressing the BT button only displays the "bluetooth disabled" image on the screen. I can't see any bluetooth device installed in the device manager but there are a bunch of HID-compliant devices under the Human Interface Devices tab.
Installed the Windows 7 x64 Acer Bio Protection all goes fine until the System Wizard where it tells me that it can't detect the fingerprint scanner even tho I can see it installed in the device manager. It's installed as "TouchStrip Fingerprint Sensor" under Biometrics.
is there any way to control the fan speed of this lap top?
I have tried speedfan, rivatuner, even tried the undervolting option with RMClock (no success - the CPU was running at the lowest voltage already).
One option did present some signs of activity - Acer Asprie One (!) Fan Control utility. However, it only switched off the fan completely. Besides that, it was quite unstable and sometimes forgot to turn the fan back on after the threshold of temperature was crossed again.
By the way: computer doesn't get hot at all. The feel is quite cool, as Speedfan utility indicates these temperatures:
The Aspire 5739G I purchased from Newegg in July has been randomly crashing on me.
Windows completely freezes without BSOD, I can't move my mouse, the sound skips repeatedly, and the keyboard is unresponsive (num lock won't turn on) which forces me to manually shut down with the power button. The screen flashes a bit before the crash happens.
I first experienced these problems after I installed Windows 7, but I reset to factory defaults w/Vista and the problem still remains. After two fresh installs of Win7 and one of Vista I am stumped. I also ran the Western Digital HDD, memory diagnostic tool, and mem86 and they all didn't find any problems with my hardware.
The crashes have occurred in Excel, playing flash movies, games, but mostly in playing videos. However the crash is completely random. I have tried both media player classic and VLC with different movies and windows has crashed with both. Not to mention that the same video that crashed my computer, I can play again with no problems or it will crash again at a different spot so it's not a corrupt file. Also I've tried both official and unofficial video card drivers and that didn't work. Event Viewer also doesn't tell me crap.
My laptop is still under warranty but I'm afraid Acer won't take it back or do anything if the problem isn't obvious. I once sent this laptop in for a noisy fan (loud buzzing noises) but they sent it back without repair since they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Even though the fan is noisy, speedfan says that temperature is kept cool and I'm also using a laptop cooler.
When I'm listening to music, my speakers tend to crackle every once in a while. Even with headphones, I get the same problem if not worse. I've searched around and it seems to be a driver issue but I've updated to the the latest Realtek HD Audio drivers and it still crackles. I'm just wondering if people with the same laptop have similar issues while listening to music or my laptop is faulty.
My Asprie 5739 appears to have gone into sleep mode. Â When I push the power button the power charge LED below the touch pad blinks, but it does not boot, even when I hold it for a long period of time. Â Â I removed the battery and power, then plugged it back in, tried holding down the power button with the same result. Â Left it unplugged for a day, same result. Â Have tried to hold the power button + FN F4, still not response.
I have a big issue with my Acer Aspire 5739G laptop that I recently purchased through Ebay. Actually, I bought it from Newegg dba Fred's Fresh Deals. (Newegg sells their returned items and cosmetically damaged goods under this name on Ebay). The laptop was advertised as a possible hard drive issue (it couldn't load windows and the error code looked like a boot sector virus, so I purchased it thinking a simple reformat will fix it).
Specs:

Anyways...
After I did a fresh reformat of the hard drive and a fresh install of Windows 7, the laptop freezes/locks up after 10-30mins on the desktop. I cannot move the mouse or anything, so I have to do a hard reboot. I don't understand how it is happening.
I updated the mobo's Phoenix driver to the latest one, and tried older VGA Nvidia drivers because I thought it might be a video card driver issue; It is still locking up. I went as far as to purchase a brand new laptop hard drive and the problem still arises. There is no BSOD. As noted earlier, the computer just simply freezes. I cleared CMOS....240M GT VGA is running factory settings....I tried leaving only 1 ram stick in the laptop. I never ran through a problem like this before.
I ran it on Safe Mode and the computer seems to be working fine as long as I do simple tasks or remain idle. I did the SFC /SCANNOW in safe mode and it locks up. I attached my event view file to this email. (I tried to install RivaTuner to underclock factory settings, but the program could not load).
I just received my new Acer Aspire 5739g and I want to get the lastest nvidia drivers but nvidia says that i can't that acer wants me to do if from there site and they aren't up to date. I can't even do it manually by downloading the updated driver from nvidia. I downloaded the newer driver and the only thing it let me update from my download was the audio driver. my geforce driver is still the same one 179.52. How do i get it up to 186.xx. i'm lost. also can i get rid of this "mywinlocker" what is that.
i'm looking towards the future when the 240m graphics card that comes with the laptop will be obsolete. is it possible to change out the 240m mxm graphics card for the 260m?
I'm having slowdowns after 10/20 minutes playing games like COD World at War and Red Alert 3, and the fan wont stop... even with the games in minimal configuration... Anyone have a clue of this? a fix maybe? I've played COD 4 Modern Warfare and it never gave me this problems ever...
Recently i buyed a laptop (Acer Aspire 571 pg) this laptop is very good for browsing and watching videos, etc... I'm happy that it can handle those things perfectly But i have a big issue when i try to play some games. For example GTA IV. I start the game normally and after a couple of minutes the game stutters/ drops fps constantly. I mean... It runs well in the first 4-5 minutes, then it starts to run slow for a couple of seconds and then goes back to run normally for another couple of seconds, and then again the game runs slow, and this keeps going and going as long as i play.
Specs: [URL]... HDD: 1tbO.s: Windows 8.1 [It was originally Windows 8, but i updated the Os for free] (Maybe this was the problem?)RAM: 8gbVideo [1]: Integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000Video [2]: Dedicated Nvidia 710m [1gb] ddr3Processor: Intel i7 3537U 2.0ghz [2.5ghz in turbo]
So I really don't know what to do, this fps drops are really annoying. I've tried:
-Installing new video drivers [They're up to date] -Installing new audio drivers [They're up to date too] -Changing battery settings, doesn't make much difference in balanced mode or high performance -Low the settings and resolution of the game [This keeps happening even on the lowest settings, it stutters/ it still gives me a fps drop] -Defrag my hdd [Nothing changes] -Updated my bios [The problem still persist] -Turning off vertical sync and other various settings on the Nvidia control panel.
The thing is that i used Nvidia inspector just to check the gpu temperature and i notice that when the temperature reaches 60 to 70 celcius degrees the game starts to run slowly and stutter. I've this cooler connected to my lap: [URL] ... I've the same pad just in color black. But even with that thing connected the temperature still goes up. Maybe i need a better cooling pad? What should i do to get the fps stable?
So I reinstalled my windows on my laptop, a few months ago and after that I noticed that my games load very slow.(All games).   One example is Dota 2, it takes about 4 mins to load to the main menu and then I have to start an offline bot match in order to load the map which also takes ~5 minutes. I didn't had this problem before reinstalling the windows and I really don't know what can be the problem...sure I installed all my drivers but not sure if they were good since you get tons of drivers for things your laptop doesn't even have     Specs:  Acer Asipre AS5755G Inter Core i5 -2430M 2.4gHZ Nvidia GeForceGT 540m 2gb 8 gb ram 750 HDDÂ
So far got many issues with it like: a year-old battery death, CPU overheat during games, and driver issues with windows seven. I am considering of buying a new laptop, the 5940G, which has these specs -
Display 15.6" (1366 x 768) / Intel Core i7-720QM (1.6 GHz) / RAM 4 GB / HDD 500 GB / ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 / Blu-ray / Wi-Fi / Buletooth / web-camera / Windows 7 Home Premium / 3 kg. $1939,00 (normal price as for Ukraine)

What makes me think about this lap, is the Acer brand. So far i can say, that the batteries acer makes are crap, because the 6920G isn't the first laptop i experience problems with (especially the battery problem)
I have a problem with my aspire 5733 fan. Sudenly yesterday it began to make a loud noise (louder than when playing games before). I have noticed that when CPU Temperature is above 50c the fan turns on, and when bellow 50c the fan is off. This happens on both Windows 7 and Ubuntu 14.04. I have had this laptop for less than 3 years.Â
I have a curious issue that has begun to pop up, I believe after I installed a few drivers from laptopvideo2go. Long story short I tried to reset back to the old Acer drivers and I spent a few hours trying to get my video to turn back on.
But here's the actual problem - some games will randomly minimize on startup and then not allow me to switch to them.
I first noticed this with Frets on Fire, where I would boot it up, it would look like it would work and then stay minimized for a while. Click on it in the taskbar and it would either pretend to go to the game or just sit there, moving my mouse to the top left corner. Alt-Tab, similar, sometimes works sometimes doesn't. If I do Switch To in task manager, it works a bit more often but sometimes takes a few times.
I've now noticed this with COD4, Fallout 3, and Trackmania Nations. Fallout 3 causes the game to crash. I've tried stopping as many open programs/processes as possible and it sometimes fixes it, sometimes doesn't.
If it isn't clear, I have an Acer Aspire 8920G with a 9500M GS. I'm currently using the relatively stock 7.15.1(1.7561) drivers.
I have the Acer Aspire V3-551G (specifically the V3-551G-8454 model) and since I got it the laptop has had some overheating issues when I run games or Ubuntu. My solution to that was just to stop running games and Ubuntu, and besides that it's worked pretty well besides Explorer deciding to crash randomly (it doesn't happen too often though).  However, I've had the laptop for a while now and and not too long ago I noticed the fan would rarely become extremely loud. As the weeks went by, the sound became more frequent, especially if I moved the laptop even just a little while it was on, so I stopped moving the laptop. But now, even with the laptop sitting still on a table, there is about a 40%-50% chance that it will have an extremely loud fan when I start it.  What's weird is that sometimes I noticed the fan is too quiet too. When it does this I assume that the fan is actually off which shouldn't be happening because the laptop gets super hot. Sometimes after a while of silence the loud noise come up too, which is nice because now the fan is on, but is also not good because of the volume of the noise.  I'm pretty sure problem is coming from the GPU (or whatever the big fan on the left underside of the laptop is). I also suspect the fan had actually been the culprit of the overheating (which consequently caused Explorer to crash sometimes).
My Acer Aspire 5745g (intel i5, nvidia GT 330m, 4gb Ram) suddenly start lagging...Some Games I play (Vindictus , Dead Space 3 , Far Cry 3 ,...)
I try to bring down quality but fps doesn't fix. I download Anti-malware (don't work). I scan with antivirus (don't work). I do twice format but the problem doesn't fix.
I have some problems with my 3 and an half year old laptop. When I play games on it, it get so warm that it instantly shuts down. Normally it's around 100 degrees but it sometimes goes up to 103 - 104. I also have an extra cooler, 200 x 200 x 20mm, 850 RPM which doesn't seem to work that much. Â My computer usually turns off 2 -3 times a day and that is really annoying and I don't want to damage my computer.....
I have a big problem with my acer 7520. The problem is that i cannot play anymore new games or even watch any movies on my laptop. I got the laptop about a year and a half ago and everything worked great. I could watch movies even when other applications were open. I could play pretty demanding games on it that ran very well. And now about 3 months ago all that luxury stopped and i cant do any of those things anymore. Even an old game like rome total war runs at 9 fps or lower on the main map, i didnt even bother going into battle. Movies stutter and skip frames, and sometimes even get stuck on the same frame with the sound still going as if everything is fine.
I have a v3 571G laptop core i7 with a geforce 640m video card. Is not the faster video card but can handle advance video games in medium to high. Every time I play any video games, with settings from medium to high, at the beginning the fps are around 34 to 40 but after 10 to 20 min of playing, the fps gets down to 12 to 20 specially when there is explosions and such. Is my laptop video card dying or is something else?
I have problem with my Acer 5750g. When I playing games cooler work in passive mode, like it dont know that  should work as much as possible.  After 5 minuts without additional cooler it goes overheat to 100 degree and turn off instantly.  When i turn my laptop on, the cooler starting work very good, like it should work all the time when it overheating. But after few secounds its turn into passive/silent mode and doesn't work properly till overheat and turn off again.
Whenever I play a song, watch a video or even during skype calls and games, my sound stutters. The problem is occurring since my laptop overheated (left it on the bed). How do i fix it?

I just got this laptop (windows vista home premium 64bit) from newegg yesterday and I was wondering why in the task manger and the processes tab, most of the problems end with "*32".
For example: firefox.exe *32 pidgin.exe *32 Steam.exe *32
I have never used Vista 64 bit before and I was wondering if something is wrong.
This is the first laptop that is now available to buy and has the Geforce GT 240M GPU (40nm, 48 shaders, DX10.1, 128bit, 23W) with 1GB RAM (DDR2 or DDR3).
You can find it in Germany for almost €800 here 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and here 6
The GPU memory probably is DDR2 otherwise the price wouldn't have been just €799 for GPU with 1GB DDR3.
Since when the 5739G had only 130M or ATI 4570 in the beginning and now it comes with the 240M, that might mean that other laptops (like mine, I wish) might get the upgrade with this GPU as well.
It will very interesting to see how the 240M compares to the ATI Mobility 4650.
