3D MARK 06 Score at native resolution 1366x768 is 5690
3D MARK 06 Score at resolution 1024x768 is 6390
Cinebench 10 score is 5472.
I'm not so much into gaming, but I like games like Left 4 Dead and I was able to play it with this 9600M GT with nice graphics and anti-aliasing (2x).
NEW 12-01-2009 COD 5 Bench
I've made a bench of COD5 and that was quite good. I've let all the default settings but use native resolution (1366x768) Vertical Sync and AA2x. I've used FRAPS to get the frame rate and the average was around 30-35fps, the lower rates was about 18fps during multiple explosions close to 4 tanks. We still can get more fps by lowering the resolution to 1280x720, but I wanted to test with the native resolution................
I have a Acer 6935G which I have recently installed Windows 7 on (x64). Windows found most of the drivers, audio included. I then downloaded the Windows Vista version of Launch Manager (version 2.0.0.2), and installed - and yes, everything worked great.
That is, until I found I had an issue with my microphone in Skype. I had ALOT of audio noise coming through when using the mic... I realised this was because the gain was up too high, however to reduce the microphone gain (or boost), it was impossible with the stock Windows 7 drivers.
So? I went to Realtek's website and downloaded the newest Realtek HD Audio driver - for Windows 7. I installed this, and then low and behold, in the Audio manager, I found that the mic boost was set to +20db! I removed this boost, and my audio issues were fix! Horray... Or at least, so I thought.
Upon doing this, I realised that the new Realtek audio drivers had some how stopped Launch Manager from working correctly. The "e", web and e-mail buttons all work fine, however the touch screen audio slider, mute button, etc. do not register when I press them.
Even before installing Launch Manager, on a fresh install, the mute button would work!
So this led me to go down the route that Launch Manager, and specifically the "Cinedash" part (volume controls etc) were trying to control the wrong audio device. In my audio devices, I have two "playback devices" listed, Speakers (on Realtek High Definition Audio) and Realtek Digital Output (also on Realtek High Definition Audio).
I went ahead and disabled the latter (Realtek Digital Output), but no, nothing... the controls on the cinedash still didn't do anything!
So, i decided I'd uninstall the Realtek drivers i'd just installed. After doing that? Nothing! The cinedash audio controls STILL don't control my audio!.......
I'm having slowdowns after 10/20 minutes playing games like COD World at War and Red Alert 3, and the fan wont stop... even with the games in minimal configuration... Anyone have a clue of this? a fix maybe? I've played COD 4 Modern Warfare and it never gave me this problems ever...
anyone can confirm that these models really have the GDDR3 and DDR3 video ram and memory ram for the said models......coz i am quite confused because the HP dv5's and dv7's have the same specs as these models but the videocard of the hp's is not gddr3 and ddr3 respectively......what am i missing here..........are the video cards and memory ram types the same or acer is better coz its ddr3 already compared to the hp's ddr2 only memories?
coz right now am torn between this two brands....acer seems better in spec sheets coz it says the video n ram are both ddr3 already....thats better right??....anyways hope someone can shed light for me.....
when i turn on my laptop this error appears when i log on to windows. it appears to be having a conflict with acer eAudio Manager as when i switch to another plan(like, games,or music>rock or smtn from the list) it doesn't change anything.and that error appears again.the sound was way better before, and i even had that 5.1 output, which i miss...
My laptop is an Acer Aspire 6935G with Intel C2D P8400 2.26GHz (1066MHz FSB) and 4GB DDR3 RAM. OS is Vista Home Premium 32-bit.
Under the memory tab in CPU-Z, the DRAM Frequency shows as 399MHz. However, the maximum bandwith for the memory under the SPD tab shows as 533MHz. If I'm correct this means my RAM is running at 800MHz instead of 1066MHz.
I've read other threads mentioning this problem and a solution was a BIOS update to v1.10. My current BIOS is v1.05, which has been on my laptop since new.
I've never updated a BIOS before and therefore reluctant in case anything goes wrong. The laptop is running fine with Vista.
I downloaded the bios update for this model from acer.co.uk site.
My bios is 1.4 latest is 1.10.
I ran insydeflash as instructed by the .txt file and it froze my laptop the mouse or nothing could be pressed
It just said intialising for about 20 mins. In the end i had to pull the battery and hope no harm was done. Was a tense moment but luckily my laptop came out alive
Anyone know of this happening before or how i could stop it from freezing?
The entertainment part on the laptop on the left hand side the touchpad has somewhat frozen so it is impossible to use, it has put itself ontohold somehow and now will not work, i have attempted restarting the laptop and shutting it down completly still the touch pad will not work.
So a year or two ago I bought an Acer Aspire 5920, it's always ran extremely hot (to the point that if I don't use an external fan it will skip movies and lag out everything). This will technically be the second laptop I've bought (the first had the same problem so I exchanged it for this one). I sent it in to Acer twice and it's come back the same way both times, with them saying there is nothing wrong with it. I now have to use a laptop stand with a desk fan behind it (and it STILL gets too hot). I have tried cleaning out the inside, reapplying the liquid silver (or whatever it's called) to the processors and heatsink bar, and even cleaned and oiled the fan. Is there anything that can be done about it?
I have recently purchased a 2nd hand 5520g laptop.
Yesterday I was running games on it. The mouse/sound would freeze intermittently and it was very hot. So I bought a cooling pad, downloaded CPUID Hardware Monitor to check the temps and took it apart to check for dust in the fan/vents (there wasn't any). Today I tried running games again with the monitor going. There are no longer intermittent freezes but it consistently reaches 89C CPU and 90C GPU(at which point the laptop fan kicks in and cools it back down to 78ish then the fan slows down and the temp goes back up etc etc etc). The HD stays at 43C the whole time. The temperature seems fine when not gaming. As I type, the CPU is idling at 56, the GPU at 61, HD 40C, where they've been for the last hour.
So my questions:
1. Are 89/90C acceptable temps for the CPU/GPU when gaming on a laptop or will it do damage? 2. Is it possible that rethermal pasting the CPU/GPU and under volting the cpu (as suggested in other posts on this forum) would help? 3. Is there any way to make the fan speed turn to full at an earlier temperature? (once the fan went faster, the cpu/gpu temps decreased dramatically).
I took the Battery out in case that was helping the heat.
specs: cpu - AMD Turion 1.9Ghz dual core gpu - GeForce 8400m G RAM - 3Gig HD - 160GB
I have been having some trouble with speed on this computer and I'm quite sure its not a connection problem and its a temperature problem. Lately I have been hearing some strange noises coming out of it and I do feel a lot of heat on it's underside. Unfortunately it only has one vent on the side and the rest are at the bottom. I will admit it is not the the best well kept laptop ever, for once it's never seen a compressed air can seen I took it out it's box. I did find this tutorial online for reducing the heat but I decided to post it here first to see what you guys thought about it boefore I went on with it.
I gotta say I never opened up a laptop before but that doesn't mean I'm computer illiterate or am shy about doing it. I do realize its a tutorial for a fujitsu and not an Acer. Well the bottom line is, what can I do to reduse the temperature? Can I attempt this [url]? and if so, are there any differences I shoould be aware about?
I wonder if i can use expresscard/34 in a expresscard/54 on an Acer Aspire 6935G? Someone who has tried?
I am looking for a better network card than the one sitting in my computer (Intel 5100 HUSK) not functioning fully, can not get the 150-270 Mbit / s. but it's on 65 Mbit / s.
One of the things that truly bugged me about this laptop was that it only shipped with 533MHz RAM (PC2-4200) when the hardware supported 667MHz (PC2-5300). When I started looking to upgrade I was bugged again that the 667MHz memory I was finding had a CAS Latency of 5 where the 533MHz ran at CL4. Then I finally located some 667MHz CL4 memory and decided to pull the trigger.
I am happy with the purchase and would recommend the upgrade to anyone with this laptop. I can't say if I used the best memory benchmarking program, but at the very least I can publish my results using SiSoftware Sandra Lite: 1) Memory Bandwidth test (HIGHER is better) 2) Memory Latency test (LOWER is better for both) 3) Cache & Memory test (HIGHER is better for Combined, LOWER is better for Speed factor)
Got the laptop yesterday Was going to change to XP straight away but Vista isn't as bad as i remember....but need it for a couple of things still. Going to try and install on the other partition that was already there and i found most of the drivers i need.
However I get the blue screen after its loads the XP cd before i can do anything, saying about checking for virusus and faulty HDD or something. I think i read about having to include the XP drivers on the XP cd or something
Recently I developed this simple application that lets you easily configure CineDash and other buttons functions on Acer laptops. This application, “Acer CineDash Config”, is mainly for mine purposes.
I tested it on my Acer 6935G and Windows 7 64bit version. It probably should work on other models and systems to.
Some of the features that Acer CineDash Config supports are: •32bit and 64bit systems •Configuring applications to run and captions for buttons:oArcade DeluxeoEmpowering tech.oInternetoE-Mail•Making and restoring registry backup •Enabling media keys to work with other programs, like winamp, and restoring original key mapping file
My main aim is to playback Blu-ray ripped movies from 6935g and output to projector via hdmi.
When projector is connected to 6935g, yeah, it detected the projector and the desktop appears on the projector screen, that's the easy part 6935g downsized to 1280x720p automatically, guess that is because my pj only supports 720p and not 1080p, need to start save again for a 1080p pj,
Now the big question Powerdvd playback the movie on the 6935g screen but the powerdvd on the pj screen is black in color, no movies
I use powerdvd instead of acer arcade deluxe because the latter does not play Blu-ray ripped movies, also the acer arcade does not play blu-ray disc from the blu-ray drive, it says graphic driver not compatible it does however play the demo disc when pj not connected
After reading great reviews about it, I took the plunge and bought the 6935G last week.
Its a fantastic machine and I'm really delighted with it apart from one major problem - I can't get Windows Media Player 11 to run at all.
The installation of Vista SP1 appeared to go well and the machine seems to be operating perfectly in all other ways (apart from the sidebar not displaying gadgets properly which does not bother me much).
I can see WMP included in the list of programs when I click on the start menu and I can also see it in my "C" drive under Program Files but when I attempt to run it nothing at all happens. The blue circle appears for 1 or 2 seconds then disappears - thats all that happens.
I'm not sure if this is related but when I go to the Music section of Windows Media Center I get the message "A necessary component of Windows Media Center is currently not available "
As I'm a "silver surfer" with limited computer knowledge, I'm probably doing something stupid (or maybe forgettiing to enable something) but I would really appreciate help in getting WMP 11 to work on this otherwise fantastic machine.
As I use WMP to manage my music, its important to me.
I am trying to connect the 6935G to LG 22LG30R (1680x1050 VGA and HDMI)
First I try the VGA, I try clone but fail coz the LCDTV only 1050 and it will keep trying and looping. Then I try output to LCDTV only but it can get 1680x1050 and the system will start to kick the TV and start cloning again and looping. So I gave up VGA then go try HDMI.
ON HDMI, I try output to LCDTV only but it keep kicking me out too and screen keep flashing. Then I try clone it, it seems the screen stop flashing but the LCDTV screen was chop, plus the whole computer is lagging, like every 3s my mouse will stop then move again.
Been trying to do a full system back up on the eRecovery program on my Acer 6935G laptop but during the first disk out of three it gets to 99% and then the whole laptop locks up (I have just read up on google that the Acer program does this anyway to make sure nothing running in the laptop's background gets in the way with the writing process) and after about 5 mins or so the laptop kick in again & I can move the mouse and do things like browse the net again etc but the Acer eRecovery program still sticks at 99% and the DVD drive stops as well but then nothing. Also as well while the program is still running at 99% and the DVD drive stops when I look in my computer I notice that the DVD drive has disappeared and it has also disappeared from the device manager too! when rebooted though the DVD drive seemed to work normally & displayed in my computer again etc.
Last night the same thing happened as well when I made a back up of the Acer drivers & applications through the eRecovery program and it first halted at 99% too and because the system locked up I thought that the whole laptop had crashed so i rebooted the laptop & as well corrupted the writing of the disk so the incomplete disk had to go in the bin. Tried the process again with a new blank DVD and it worked and completed the application & driver back up. I'm puzzled to why it stops at 99% and does not complete but I want to see if this is a common problem or if anyone else has had the same problem? (I know that there are a couple of people on here who have bought this laptop on here recently) I don't want to risk keep trying to do the back up only to waste DVD's. By the way lastly the DVD's I am using are DVD+R's and they are over a year old.
It runs fine when plugged in, encoding video etc.... The issue is when the laptop is running from the battery, it'll just bluescreen within about 5 mins of unplugging it... every time without fail. I have the latest BIOS 1.13 installed.
I'm guessing it's because it's an engineering sample? Would formatting the PC be worth a shot? I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate at the moment.
I want to overclock my processor P8400, but there are no program that's work with this processor....I use setFSB and ClockGen but this freeze my laptop.....
