View 2 RepliesI have an Aspire 7720z. As Vista was having so many glitches, I set up a dual boot system with XP and Ubuntu 8.10 on two partitions on the same drive. Last week I upgraded Ubuntu to 9.10 but started having power problems. I read somewhere that a BIOS update would help so I flashed to v1.45. Everything is now going great with my Ubuntu OS. The problem lies in Windows. When I try to boot to XP the splash screen comes up for a couple of seconds and the the computer reboots. I used a test disk to check the drive and everything is fine. I then tried to repair the XP installation with the install disk but was told that it couldn't find an XP installation. So, for the umteenth time, I tried to re-install XP but was told that the installer couldn't locate any devices to install onto. Completely bewildering as my Ubuntu installation works perfectly.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought the Aspire E5-571 yesterday and i have been trying to connect to wifi with no luck what so ever. it runs windows 8.1 x64bit. i have updated the atheros network adapter to .285 provided on the acer drivers downloads section. but still no luck. wifi connections are shown but i cannot connect to them, i have bt infinity using the bt hub 4. i get as far as typing in the pass code for the router but then says it cannot connect. my other devices can connect (iPhone, laptop running win7). the only way for me to connect is to sit on my stairs using an ethernet cable.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy laptop just wont connect to the Wifi ! ...I installed a new hard drive a few months ago due to my origional being on the blink...I managed to install all the drivers etc and everything is working fine, except that is the Wifi, it has worked since however since moving house I have really struggled with it (it would connect on very rare occasions, for brief periods - although more recently will not connect whatsoever).
(It says that there is no drive for the Ethernet Controller however i was under the impression that this wouldnt hinder the wireless connection?)
I recently purchased an Acer Aspire 5515 Laptop. Has a built in Wireless card. It detects the hotspots with no problem. It connects to the available networks with no problem. But it will not connect to any internet service. Strange, but that is also what trouble shooter says. Connects to network, but not to internet, thus browser cannot resolve to any URL.
I even disabled firewall to see if it would help, but it will not.
Even has issues trying to network at home using ethernet cards. Detects, but will not connect.
Just a couple of days ago I bought a brand new acer aspire v13 (v-371) and we'll, I cannot connect to my hotspot wifi. I've tried changing ip adress, dns server, disabled/enabled network adapter and they've all worked but then connection is lost after a short amount of time (15-30 minutes) and i cannot get back on.I have not tried connecting to another network than my phones. I have windows 8.1.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI purchased my daughter an Aspire One 725-0687 last Christmas. She only used it a couple months and it has sat around for the past 5 months with no use at all. She went to use it today and couldn't remember her password. I tried several but continue to get the same response... "Your PC is offline. Please sign in with the last password used on this PC". For some reason, it's not connecting to wifi, I have removed the battery, I have attempted "safe mode" with Alt f5, f8 and even f10 and I get nothing except back to the sign in screen. I tried ALT, CTRL, DLT and it does nothing.

It was still fine when I downloaded windows 8.1 but all of a sudden displays limited/no connectivity. I tried everything I can including resetting tcp ip settings thru command prompt, finding other drivers till someone suggested me to put my laptop back to windows 8. Still didn't fix the problem. Now, my laptop does not access wifi nor detect any wireless connection whether our home wifi, or others.
I have an Acer notebook and I really want to have wifi always on. I accidentally keep turning off the wifi every once in a while,

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer laptop model 5736. The screen won't light up but I can connect a VGA cable to my tv and see that the computer is working. ( i typed this on it). The screen started acting up a month or two ago and I could close it or re-position it and it would come back on. Today it stopped altogether. I watched a couple of videos on youtube on downloading bios, but that didn't work for me. When i tried to run the bios it said my computer was 64 bit and didn't support the 32 bit bios.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI went to get onto my laptop yesterday evening and it wasn't picking up any wifi. I did the trouble shoot and it said to connect to an ethernet cable. This has never happen to me before and I don't know what to do. Today I did a system restore to a few days ago when it was working just fine... nothing happened.. I tried to press the button on the keyboard to turn the wireless adapter on and that didn't work either. I really need this computer at least for a couple more months for my school work.

I have not changed any settings, and the network is saved and set to auto-connect. It does not though. I have to manually select and click connect, then it eventually does.

Every week a problem occure: my pc can't connect to any wifi, and i can't disable the wifi card, it doesn't respond, so i have to switch off many times the pc until it begins to work again (after many times you can enter in connection menu and disable the card and then switch on it other time and then works). i suppose is a driver problem (with windows 7 this problem never appeared).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been having problems with this notebook. I bought it just last month. After using it for a week, I noticed that it doesn't connect automatically to wifi, and sometimes you have to wait a little longer (probably an hour) for it to connect successfully to a wifi. And if ever it gets connected, the internet access says "limited". I brought it to a servcie center, they changed the wifi card, and then I guess after using it for more than a week, the same problem occured. This is a big inconvenience on my part.

Yesterday everything was working fine, I turned off the laptop, went out, turned it on in the morning and bam, no internet. I reinstalled drivers, then reinstalled the system and nothing changed. It certainly isn't router's fault, since other devices can connect to the Wi-Fi
I solved it, somehow wireless network card got turned off and I just figured out Fn+F5 prompts a window where I could turn it back on.

I had to upgrade my system to Window 7 Ultimate, the laptop came with regular Windows 7.
I updated all drivers and everything else works perfect except for that I cannot connect to any wireless network. No matter how close I am to a network the computer does not recognize it.
Then I finally noticed the wireless button on the keyboard being red and no matter what I do, I cannot get it to go off.
Also just noticed in Device managers a few "!" next to some items
PCI Device is not installed
Network Controller is not installed
My new Lenovo Z580 runs windows 8 64bit, core i3 3rd gen, 4gb RAM.
The problem is, since day 1,every few minutes the internet stops working. It shows as connected, the router is working, other connected devices run as intended and everything's fine. But internet doesn't work on my laptop. It says "Could not connect to the network". I have tried doing the "keep wifi on during sleep" etc. but nothing works. It just stops working after a while even though I am using the laptop, it just suddenly stops. It even shows as connected, and packets are being received but internet or any application over the internet will not work untill I disconnect and reconnect.
I was happily connecting to my home wifi yesterday evening before my HP Pavilion g7 notebook updated to windows 8.1. Now I can only connect via ethernet cable.
I phoned Microsoft Support and was told that my wifi driver was out of date and that this needs to reinstalled. I have had a look at available downloads for network drivers but I am unsure how to establish which one I need.... there are 4 options.
Under Device Manager > Network Adapters, there was only one driver which needed update according to this. The Realtek PCle FE Family Controller. When I checked for updates here is said that it had updated successfully, but I am STILL unable to connect to the internet.
