Replaced LCD screen and still no backlight. Troubleshooting charts say replace MB. MB is P7YEO_U98 . Is there different number for the MB? Any other backlight solutions to try?
It is working with an outboard monitor using the 'D' connecter. While I was using that method to update Windows the backlight popped on and stayed for the session. Have not gotten it back after multiple tries.
I have an Acer Aspire 7750 running windows 7 home premium. When I insert a flash drive in the usb port, I hear the sound that indicates the flash drive is inserted, but the drive does not appear on the 'My computer' window.

Acer R7-572-6423 Windows 8.1 Bought April 28, 2014.
Issue: I get a black screen permanently now. When connected to wall battery indicator is blue, I touch the power button, power indicator turns blue for 7 seconds then turns off. Nothing happens. Screen doesn't power, can't hear any fans, etc. Same issue when not connected to wall.
There was a BIOS update version 2.04 which fixed a problem "2. Revise system can't boot when "Exit Discarding Changes" was selected in BIOS menu." I believe that's my issue.
Is there any recovery method that can be done at home to get it out of this state?
Here's a video from another user with the same laptop and identical problem but no fix : [URL] ....
Another user suggested sending in the laptop to have the EPROM replaced but never said why or if it fixed it.
Tried: pinhole button to reset the system removed battery, hard drive looked for crimped wires in hinge going to screen
I desperately do NOT want my back light to turn off after 30 seconds or whatever it is. I want it to STAY ON. There must be a setting for this. Where is it?
I have an acer 7513 wsmi the screen went black no backlight. It worked using the blue video cable connected to a TV. I replaced with a new screen now have a backlight but no images etc. still works with TV though. I up put windows 7 on it so it has no acer drivers at all. I have tried alt 5 etc but no joy.
new screen/inverter/ backlight installed. NEW screen still black, but visible with flashlight. Went ahead and got ANOTHER inverter off eBay and tried that - screen still black. Haven't ever replaced a backlight, and the operation looks delicate (and expensive to HAVE done) ...
I have a monitor backlight failure on my Acer 5601WLMI / 5600 series. How do I find a replacement backlight? Are there any instructions on how I would be able to replace it?
I'm a laptop newb, and I've already tried to do a search on this forum and I haven't found any threads for this specific Acer monitor,
I'm having a problem with the back light of my laptop. I have a Studio 15 that I bought around 1.5 years ago.
I don't know why the back light randomly stops working. When it happens I turn off the screen and turn it on again and it works fine. Any clues on what is happening?
What are the symptoms when your LCD backlight craps out? The screen on my i9300 is black but I can see images, although it is very very dark, like the lcd is working but it's not lighting up. Also when the lcd crapped out, there was a burning smell.
If I do need a new LCD, would it be worth it to replace? My laptop runs great and I'd love to keep using it.
Windows device manager recognizes the graphics card. latest drivers are installed. running Windows 7.
LCD backlight turns on, however, the screen constantly stays an offwhite colour.
when i connect the laptop to a VGA monitor or to a TV through S-video, it connects and everything is displayed perfectly on the external screen. the laptop LCD is still lit up a offwhite colour.
I have a laptop which has a dim screen, I am not sure if its the inverter or the back light that needs to be replaced. Its a Sony FS-740/w series laptop. I want to be sure which one needs to be replaced so that i can order it online. way to check if the inverter is working correctly.
my FZ was sent in for repair in December because of Nvidia graphics card problem. I got it back a few days ago, and the screen died on me. I think the backlight LED on the LCD is broken, since I can see the things on the monitor (i.e. I can see the content) but it's REALLY dark that I literally have to put my face up against it. Of course I tried turning up the brightness, rebooting, turning it on after few hours and it still didn't work.
Anyone have an experience getting the screen repaired? Mine's out of warranty (over a year old) and I'm wondering how much it costs.
I have a problem with an hp zv6000 (no backlight). When I giggle the lid switch it will flash and sometimes stay on for a short (less than a minute) and then go back off. Inverter or just a bad switch,
I have a dv9700 that I have owned for over a year and recently upgraded to Windows 7 (about a month ago.) I was happy with how everything was working until suddenly today when I went to turn on my laptop it appeared the screen was dead...upon looking closer I realized that the backlight was off. I could barely make out anything on the screen but it did have an error message stating that Windows failed to boot and gave the option of repairing the system. I went through this "startup repair" utility (still no working backlight) and got my computer to boot up. Everything seems to run normally now except the backlight is still not functioning most of the time (at the moment I have the screen balanced just right so that it is on.) I had a similar problem with my screen about half a year ago but the laptop was still under warranty at the time so HP replaced the screen for free...not the case this time unfortunately I seem to remember reading that flashing the BIOS can solve a problem like this, however there is apparently no support for Windows 7 through HP Support's software and drivers page (I tried installing the latest version of winflash for my laptop...vista 64 bit but got an error message saying it was not compatible with my system)
How do I disable (and keep disabled) the backlight on my XPS 13? I can use fn+f6 to turn it off, but it ends up turning itself back on when re-logging in or coming back from hibernating, etc. Running Windows 8.
I have an issue with my XPS M1730. Intermittanly the screen will go black during use.
It is clearly the backlight going out as on very close inspection i can make out contrast of light and dark areas. Plugging in a secondary screen on duel duplicate mod works fine, but laptop remains black.
The laptop screen will suddenly come back on at random, even if left in the corner with no-one using it.
The backlight failure also happens at bootup alot. I found also that leaving the laptop overnight (when backlight failed to come on) that it will not usually come back on, but within minutes of pluggin in the secondary display it will suddenly light up and work ok. It will continue to work till put to sleep/ closed down...........................
I have a Dell XPS M1330 and have tried to find a solution for a screen that just doesn't want to stay at it's brightest setting. I have adjusted all Battery profiles (including the "on battery" setting) and the screen seems to adjust to lowest background light settings every time I close the lid to my laptop.
I have adjusted all known settings for this, and still no resolution to the problem! Every time I close the lid to my laptop, windows makes a dis-connect sound (notification), you know, the sound it makes when you dis-connect a thumb drive or other USB connection.
my work pc is a Dell inspiron 1520. it is mounted on Ram stand in my tow truck. the problem i am having is sometimes now when im driving down a bumpy road the backlight goes out.
to get it back on i either have to close the lid and open it, or shut it down and reboot.
i was thinking its the switch that tells the mother board that the lid is closed when its not. Is there any way to disable that switch so the backlight is on permantly
I recently had my laptop apart to put different thermal paste on the cpu, but now my backlighting isnt working for the keyboard. does that little ribbon cable control that? Its kinda hard to get it to stay attached. If not then is this a normal thing for these keyboard lights to go bad?
when i woke up this morning one half of my screen was white and the other side was pretty dark.
So I decided to turn the computer off and kept it off for 30 mins. When I started it back up the backlight seemed fine but it still looks kind of dim on the left side.
