My wife dropped her Extensa 4620z. It's working fine, but it broke the pin inside the yellow power connector jack. If I could get to it, I could epoxy the pin in place and perhaps solder the jack to the mobo. But, I can't get the freaking thing open! I removed all the screws and removed the lower panel, but I have no idea how to get the laptop open. how to disassemble the laptop
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a 6920G which somehow got a hair behind the screen some time ago.
My warrant ended some time ago so I guess I need to remove it myself, if I want it removed (and I do).
The hair is in the middle, not too far from the bottom so it sure is annoying. It looks like a very, very thin strain of hair, most likely from one of our cats.
I have googled for many hours for ways to disassemble my laptop and even tried it myself without a guide and I came pretty far until I gave up in fear of breaking the screen.
Do anyone have a guide or something on how I can remove the LCD to clean it off? Far as I understand service manuals are not to be asked for (for legal reasons?) so a guide or detailed instructions is what I desperately need.
Acer Aspire 2000. When a battery is inserted and the power cable is in, the charging light appears, I then switch on the laptop and it powers up within 5 seconds of it being on and trying to boot it will power down without notice.
If I remove the battery I can run the laptop fine off the mains. If I then connect the battery it will cause the laptop to power down.
I have tried two other batteries thinking it was a fault with the battery, but this is not the case.
I just wanted to know could it be a setting in the BIOS?
the right hinge of my Acer Aspire 2003Wlmi & partner in job broke...
It seems that these items have been discontinued, so maybe some suppliers have that part in stock if i'm extremely lucky...
notebook- Acer Aspire 2000 series CL32
problem- resetting itself constantly!
Explanation- Basically, one day after normal operation of my computer, I turned it off properly. The next time i went to turn it on, it comes up with the normal BLUE screen which has "acer aspire" on it. Down the bottom it says f2 to boot or something and f12 to enter setup menu.
If i do not press anything, it goes to a black screen and attempts to locate a boot cd. After it does not find one, it goes black, then up comes the BLUE screen which says "acer aspire" on it. If i do not press anything or touch anything, this process will keep going and going until i turn it off by holding down the on/off power button.
Resolution / what i have attempted to do-I CAN enter setup menu, by pressing f12 on the blue acer aspire screen. Once i am in the setup menu, i attempt to exit. I have attempted to exit the setup menu in all way, incl. disgarding changes, saving changes etc etc.
Each time i try to exit the menu a different way, It just goes to a black screen for a few moments, then repeats the process of going back to the blue acer aspire screen.
I have attempted to insert a boot cd. So after the blue screen, it goes to the black screen and attempts to find the boot cd. After locating it, it verifies it, says something like "found in drive C" or something similar, then it goes back to the same process.
Question- How the hell can I use my computer again?
Further note- 80% of my data has been saved on an external hard disk so rebooting or any other process is fine by me, I just want to be able to use my computer again.
Before attempting all the above processes, I disconnected everything from my computer e.g. all usb devices. I have tried it on batteries and with the power cable.
how to disassemble a Dell Inspiron Mini 12
First get 1 small + screw driver
and 1 pair of latex gloves(to prevent ESD)
1-Take your Mini 12 and flip it upside-down
2-Un-Screw all the screws on the bottom. NOTE: There is no need to map out where each screw belongs because they are all the same.
3-Remove the bezel above the keyboard
4-Unscrew the 2 screws above the keyboard holding it down and remove the keyboard
5-Detach the wiresfrom the motherboard, leading from the top of half of the base(power, sound, touchpad, and antenna's)
6-Remove the top half of the base
Now that you have opened up the laptop, you can look at all the components and clean it with canned air(if necessary).

Has anyone successfully disassembled the e4300 before? I wasn't able to find any documentation or photos anywhere.
how to open/disassemble my VGN-CS110E laptop but no one had the manuals, etc to how to open it. I have read from several places that the Vaio is like a jigsaw puzzle, and in which case it is. There are always different was of opening different Vaio's. From the "popup" keyboard, to "popup speaker" just to get into the fan. The CS-series is different, you open it as if it were a desktop computer.
First, turn the laptop over so the screen is shut and is on the bottom.
Remove the battery, once removed, there are 2 screws (ignore the 3 black screws), remove the 2 screws.
After this is done, unscrew the screws that is in the casing of the RAM as well as HD. The HD has two screws to be unscrewed, one is hidden thus you have to remove the HD to unscrew it.
In order to disassemble the CS-series, you must unplug a cord that's within the RAM compartment, in doing all of this, slowly lift the underneath piece of the laptop, it should pry away slowly and then you can see the motherboard, fan, etc. You can disassemble the monitor screen from the laptop now as well.
I recently received the 2000-0142 error when running the diagnostics on my 7720 laptop. I found this to be a hard drive error and purchased another hard drive. After installing the new hard drive I received the 2000-0332 error.Â

My friend has a laptop which just went our of warranty last month. Now its out of warranty and today that hard disk is gone. It doesnot showup in BIOS and I tried everything that I could do to help her. The hdd is of Fujitsu and I thought that the hdd has a 3 year meanufacturing warranty atleast. So, we called Fujitsu about that and they told us that we should contact with HP to settle that but its out of warranty so its not of use.

Basically the hard drive (of my XPS m1530) has been going a bit slower than usual recently.
I figured it was just Vista been more sluggish than usual.
So I decided I'd back it up, wipe it and install my new copy of Windows 7 RTM.
After booting from the DVD, setup stopped halfway through giving me this '0x00000e9' error code.
I subsequently ran the dell diagnostics.
Which gave me this :
Hard Drive - DST
Test Results : Fail
Error code 2000-0142
Msg : hard drive 1 - Self test unsuccessful.

a laptop cooler for the HP DV7t-2000 (17.3" widescreen, approx. important dimmensions 16.2"x10.9"). The laptop does not really get all that hot (except when I am playing games), but I just want to get a cooler so that I can keep the laptop in perfect condition. I want this laptop to stay in the best shape possible for as long as possible.
Right now, I have just been propping the back using some video game cases. But I want something that is a little bit more reliable and powerful.
When the notebook is in use, the vent is at the top left corner. When flipped over so that it is upside down (as is shown in the picture below), the vent is in the top right. Any suggestions that would fit this configuration (I hope it was clear, just wanted to be precise )?
