Acer :: 9410 Partition
Aug 18, 2009On my Acer 9410 laptop I have a 150Gb disk that I divided into 2 partitions, each one 75Gb. After having installed a program my 2nd partition appeared completely empty (Windows XP with all updates). It did not even let me re-format it. I ran into UBCDWin and I tried it. From UBCDwin the partitions are ok, all the files are there and I backed up both partitions to an external disk. I used UBCDwin because trying to repair my partition my laptop went into a continous restart loop and other errors, so it was the only way to restart it (apart from Windows install cd). What can be the cause ? Is here a way to rebuild my directories ? I did all the usual (ad unusual) troubleshooting... that is:
my laptop is (or was...) using XP and it had all the drivers rigorously updated, as well as XP itself. The program I was installing was Mediachance Edit Studio 6. After rebooting, as I mentioned, my "D" partition was 100% free, as if all my 50Gb of data had disappeared. It also had no name (it had a generic "Local disk" label, while before it was labeled as "Acerdata"). Also, this partition "could not be formatted" from XP. First thing I tried was to get to a previous restore point, but Windows warned me that since there was no more D partition it could not recover it, so I did not do it. Then I did my scans with Avast, Eusing Registry Cleaner, CCleaner, Advanced System Care, and then chkdsk, RAM check, etc. with no results. At a certain point I managed to copy part of the D partition on the C drive (I can't remember how), but I think there was little space left on it (the C drive), so my laptop entered into the restart loop (BSOD) with the CONFIG_LIST_FAILED error, probably due to the lack of space for the paging file. Then I managed to stop the auto restart (from the Control Panel, ecc) and it showed me the STOP 0x00000073 (0x00000001, 0xC00017D, 0x000000002, 0xF6818BB8) error. It did not boot in safe mode and/or last known working configuration. With another computer I downloaded and made cds of BART Avast and UBCDWin, I tried many of the utilities in these with no result. Last thing, using UBCDWin (from which all my files were there and the D partition was ok and has its original name), I managed to copy both my original partitions, C and D, on an external USB 2 drive, so I probably would be able to recover all my data if I'll reinstall Windows and format disks from scratch, but before doing this I'd like to see if there's some other option...

I know i needed to disable something in bios but this laptop's bios isn't very detailed , i tried disabling the Legacy boot and now the laptop doesn't boot up anymore, not even in bios. When i power it on all i get is a black screen and the Caps lock blinks twice.

I tried pressing the windows key+B+ power button for one second while the laptop is shut down but it didn't do anything.

Sep 20, 2007Im looking to buy a decent lap top for CHEAP like less then 700 bucks... And I saw a great deal on a Acer Aspire 9410 17" widescreen...I know just about nothing when it comes to laptops and such but this deal seemed great.

Acer :: Aspire 9410 Freezes
Jun 29, 2009My Acer Aspire 9410 randomly freezes for like 10 seconds, then it goes back to normal, then after 10-15 secs freezes again for like 2-3 secs and then it goes finally back to normal. During freezes nothing works, the screen does not show anything weird. Sometimes after a freeze my internet connection (wireless) closes, and the only way to repair it is to restart the computer. I'm running Windows XP Media Center with all updates. All drivers are all updated. Maybe just my BIOS is not the last version. I tried using no battery, disabling some services, I don't have Norton, I've used all cleaners, registry repairing softwares, Avast scan, etc. nothing seems to help. The event viewer does not show any warning and/or error at the time of freezing.

Jan 13, 2010I have read the threads as much as possible and I am perplexed by the lack of help from Acer on this. This has a T2060 CPU in it. It has an sata 1.5 HD and I have 2gb of ddr2 pc2-4200. I am trying to find out what can be upgraded and to how much. Acer didn't want to touch it since its out of warranty. The serial number look up from the state it is a 9410z... but on the back of the laptop it states 9410-2597. the mfg date is 070131,
I know that i can plug a 7200rpm drive into it and yes it should take w7 with no problem.
It's been a good laptop and I would like to keep it for a few more years.

Dec 5, 2008I've found a source for the replacement part through EXTENSIVE research- and found an online user manual. I am not used to building/opening laptops, so I don't know whether
I'll need special tools to replace the broken back cover; are there any other parts I may need (such as hinges, antenna WiFi).
Is this even a job I should take on or is it pretty easy?
The LCD is fine- it's JUST the plastic cover I need to replace.

Feb 24, 2010I see that thread BIOS Update V1.24: 4GB RAM in 9410? was already locked (yes, I missed it by more than a year).
I'm guessing there are still users out there using their Acer Aspire 9410 laptops.
I recently purchased two 2GB DDR2 modules. They both work fine individually and I've tested using memtest86+. When I plug both modules in, the BIOS only sees 3067MB. The Phoenix BIOS in my Acer Aspire 9410-4933 is version 1.24. I would expect that the BIOS sees all 4GB.
Is there any Phoenix BIOS newer than 1.24 that I can use for my Acer Aspire 9410-4933?
I've read that there may be hidden BIOS settings and I'm wondering if anybody can point me to a URL that describes how to un-hide those settings?
Lastly: according to the aforementioned locked thread, the BIOS is the one limiting how much memory is addressable. Is there any way to hack around that?

I need to do a complete restore (default setings) on my laptop, but it needs a password.
Well I think i might have made a mistkae when I first put it in a year ago. I want to keep my D: drive in tack, but the C drive needs tro be wiped.
Only thing is, I cant get eRecovery to run without a password.
I tried searching and the only things I find are:

This problem is solved very easily, makes a right click on the partedit32 icon, goes in properties, clicks on the tab compatibility and set the compatibility on winxp or win98..................................
Acer :: Aspire 9410 Black Screen Problems Intermittent
Jun 26, 2009Aspire 9410 no operating issues but sometimes when booted only black screen Whenever this happens, I connect an exterior monitor and then the screen on my comp pops back on and will stay on even after I disconnect the exterior. It doesn't do this all the time and will flicker (rarely) when in use but never goes completely out when in use. Anyone know why this is and how I can get rid of this problem permanently (outside of getting another computer!)

Dec 10, 2014My Aspire V5-552PG-X809 has frozen 5 times in the last two days. Why is this happening, and how do I stop it. I just got it back from being serviced about two weeks ago, and did a fresh install of windows recently.

Here's the timeline for my system: About 6 weeks ago the system froze and needed a hard restart. Upon restarting, nothing would load. I couldn't access the recovery partition, and repair media did nothing. I sent it back to ACER for repair, and they replaced the HDD. It ran fine for about two weeks, but I was not paying attention during setup and put in the wrong username (This normally wouldn't be an issue, except it changed the name of the user directory and was a hassle for some R code that I had written). I reinstalled windows and fixed the directory issue about two days ago. Since that time I have had about 5 system freezes requiring hard restarts, and every time I'm paranoid that it will kill my HDD again.
Acer Aspire E1 571-6471 :: Cannot Access Recovery Partition
Feb 16, 2015I purchased an Acer Aspire about a year ago and the laptop has seen minimal. I have experienced a common problem that Windows 8 users have. When I upgraded to Windows 8.1 - I got a 'failure to reconfigure updates' reverting back and it would go into a loop and continually do this. I only discovered this was common after. ALT+F10 does not work for me. Even though it appears the option is enabled on my computer. Currently if I can get the function to work - ALT+F10 did up until recently bring me to 'Preparing Start Up Repair' - then it would go to System Restore.
After System Restore started, the splash screen would just stay displayed and nothing happens. I am attempting to order recovery disks but apparently non US customers have issues with ordering them. I don't understand how this can happen. I have not used the laptop very often at all. It's practically a fresh install. In a year it has maybe seen 50 hours of usage. I have no way of accessing system recovery options as of now. The laptop is essentially bricked.

Sep 11, 2014I have an aspire V5-572 notebook with win 8.1 and the only partition. I made 2 more partitions using AOMEI partitioning tool. after rebooting it shows the usual win 8 loading screen but no display comes then. complete blank screen and no desktop.Â

1. I assume the partitioning was done perfectly as there was no error message
2. OS loading accordingly without any warning or error message
3. At the black screen the mouse movement showing and sometimes the wifi symbol flashing up at the almost middle-bottom of the screen.

I really do not like built-in recovery mechanism on the same HDD. I perfer a DVD/USBÂ or any external media.I wanted to export that recovery parititon to a DVD/USB. I searched the web and found that I needed to use Acer eRecovery Managment application. But mine did not came with that software, and I could not find it on Acer's web site either.

I installed Windows 10 on it. I did not like this laptop, so I decided to sell it. Now, I want to make it to factory settings. Pressing Alt + F10 showed some kind of error, like it cannot verify the signature of winload.efi. I thought Windows 10 somehow messed it up. So I installed normal Windows 8.1 Pro I had. Then tried Alt + F10. Now, it did not show that winload.efi error, but it asks me to insert a recevery media. That is, it does not recognise the recovery partition.

By the way, the screen of Alt + F10 looked like stock Windows 8.1 screen from Microsoft, not Acer. When I watched it on their web site, it showed some kind of Acer recovery program. Is this normal?

Acer :: How To Unhide And Delete Recovery Partition In Aspire 6920
Oct 3, 2009I have Acer Aspire 6920 Notebook which came with vista home premium in 64 bit installed. I have made Recovery disks (3 DVDs) and had resorted to factory defaults several times by using the DVDs and not by Alt+F10 (at that time I did not know about alt+f10). I now have removed the 64- bit vista home premium and have windows-7 Ultimate RTM, Vista Home Premium and XP Pro all in 32 bit in three separate partitions in one single hdd. I have also done BIOS upgrade from 1.06 to 1.14. I have SATA mode set to IDE instead of the default AHCI due to XP not functioning under AHCI interface.
My BIOS shows hdd pw frozen by default though I have removed the hdd and set the BIOS to default twice. I find the Vista Home Premium in 64 bit OEM is a real pain since it has a lot of third party softwares – free and sharewares – which I have to uninstall every time (more than 20 of them) and therefore I tried to delete the acers recovery partition which is of 18 GB size and my Notebook with 250 GB hdd shows only 232 GB.
However, the partition is hidden and I have tried to unhide and delete the recovery partition with a number of third party partition softwares like Paragon, partedit32, Easeus, Norton, acronis, G-parted, macrium reflect, all with no success!
Now I request the learned members to give me a solution that will work, in simple procedure explained, to unhide the acer recovery partition and deleting it without disturbing my present OSes installed on the three partitions. Macrium does not show the PQ Service/EISA partition.
