I've found a source for the replacement part through EXTENSIVE research- and found an online user manual. I am not used to building/opening laptops, so I don't know whether
I'll need special tools to replace the broken back cover; are there any other parts I may need (such as hinges, antenna WiFi).
Is this even a job I should take on or is it pretty easy?
The LCD is fine- it's JUST the plastic cover I need to replace.
which would be fine... But there's nothing in the handbook about the right way to remove the back cover and i don't want to snap anything, however much vista needs 4GB of ram.

Im looking to buy a decent lap top for CHEAP like less then 700 bucks... And I saw a great deal on a Acer Aspire 9410 17" widescreen...I know just about nothing when it comes to laptops and such but this deal seemed great.

My Acer Aspire 9410 randomly freezes for like 10 seconds, then it goes back to normal, then after 10-15 secs freezes again for like 2-3 secs and then it goes finally back to normal. During freezes nothing works, the screen does not show anything weird. Sometimes after a freeze my internet connection (wireless) closes, and the only way to repair it is to restart the computer. I'm running Windows XP Media Center with all updates. All drivers are all updated. Maybe just my BIOS is not the last version. I tried using no battery, disabling some services, I don't have Norton, I've used all cleaners, registry repairing softwares, Avast scan, etc. nothing seems to help. The event viewer does not show any warning and/or error at the time of freezing.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have read the threads as much as possible and I am perplexed by the lack of help from Acer on this. This has a T2060 CPU in it. It has an sata 1.5 HD and I have 2gb of ddr2 pc2-4200. I am trying to find out what can be upgraded and to how much. Acer didn't want to touch it since its out of warranty. The serial number look up from the state it is a 9410z... but on the back of the laptop it states 9410-2597. the mfg date is 070131,
I know that i can plug a 7200rpm drive into it and yes it should take w7 with no problem.
It's been a good laptop and I would like to keep it for a few more years.
I see that thread BIOS Update V1.24: 4GB RAM in 9410? was already locked (yes, I missed it by more than a year).
I'm guessing there are still users out there using their Acer Aspire 9410 laptops.
I recently purchased two 2GB DDR2 modules. They both work fine individually and I've tested using memtest86+. When I plug both modules in, the BIOS only sees 3067MB. The Phoenix BIOS in my Acer Aspire 9410-4933 is version 1.24. I would expect that the BIOS sees all 4GB.
Is there any Phoenix BIOS newer than 1.24 that I can use for my Acer Aspire 9410-4933?
I've read that there may be hidden BIOS settings and I'm wondering if anybody can point me to a URL that describes how to un-hide those settings?
Lastly: according to the aforementioned locked thread, the BIOS is the one limiting how much memory is addressable. Is there any way to hack around that?
Well after a long rally of emails with Acer technical support we've come to the conclusion, my video card is dead/fried.
I was wondering with the Aspire 9410, it comes with a Geforce 7300GO. Would the video card be a DIY replacement?
I have an Acer Aspire 9410-2079, its about a year old.
I need to do a complete restore (default setings) on my laptop, but it needs a password.
Well I think i might have made a mistkae when I first put it in a year ago. I want to keep my D: drive in tack, but the C drive needs tro be wiped.
Only thing is, I cant get eRecovery to run without a password.
I tried searching and the only things I find are:

This problem is solved very easily, makes a right click on the partedit32 icon, goes in properties, clicks on the tab compatibility and set the compatibility on winxp or win98..................................
Aspire 9410 no operating issues but sometimes when booted only black screen Whenever this happens, I connect an exterior monitor and then the screen on my comp pops back on and will stay on even after I disconnect the exterior. It doesn't do this all the time and will flicker (rarely) when in use but never goes completely out when in use. Anyone know why this is and how I can get rid of this problem permanently (outside of getting another computer!)

View 10 Replies View RelatedI wanted to open my box to check the ease (or not) of a memory upgrade but had a helluva sweaty time trying to get the compartment cover off.
After undoing the 4 screws and getting it open a bit, it still seemed VERY firmly held in the vicinity of the fan vent area.
The plastic cover is pretty thin and I was terrified of breaking it, so tried a little prying, a bit of heaving, some levering, tugging, jabbing, swearing, praying etc. I even had the computer overturned and was looking for a way through the keyboard where I was convinced that a bolt must be holding the memory cover down.
Anyway it DID finally come loose but it was a bit scary, so I've made a couple of scans and added some notes on the lugs which were holding it in place in the hope that it might prove useful to others in the same predicament.
One scan is of the actual lid and the other is of what's inside, in case you get to feel like pushing a screwdriver in there - (don't).
On my Acer 9410 laptop I have a 150Gb disk that I divided into 2 partitions, each one 75Gb. After having installed a program my 2nd partition appeared completely empty (Windows XP with all updates). It did not even let me re-format it. I ran into UBCDWin and I tried it. From UBCDwin the partitions are ok, all the files are there and I backed up both partitions to an external disk. I used UBCDwin because trying to repair my partition my laptop went into a continous restart loop and other errors, so it was the only way to restart it (apart from Windows install cd). What can be the cause ? Is here a way to rebuild my directories ? I did all the usual (ad unusual) troubleshooting... that is:
my laptop is (or was...) using XP and it had all the drivers rigorously updated, as well as XP itself. The program I was installing was Mediachance Edit Studio 6. After rebooting, as I mentioned, my "D" partition was 100% free, as if all my 50Gb of data had disappeared. It also had no name (it had a generic "Local disk" label, while before it was labeled as "Acerdata"). Also, this partition "could not be formatted" from XP. First thing I tried was to get to a previous restore point, but Windows warned me that since there was no more D partition it could not recover it, so I did not do it. Then I did my scans with Avast, Eusing Registry Cleaner, CCleaner, Advanced System Care, and then chkdsk, RAM check, etc. with no results. At a certain point I managed to copy part of the D partition on the C drive (I can't remember how), but I think there was little space left on it (the C drive), so my laptop entered into the restart loop (BSOD) with the CONFIG_LIST_FAILED error, probably due to the lack of space for the paging file. Then I managed to stop the auto restart (from the Control Panel, ecc) and it showed me the STOP 0x00000073 (0x00000001, 0xC00017D, 0x000000002, 0xF6818BB8) error. It did not boot in safe mode and/or last known working configuration. With another computer I downloaded and made cds of BART Avast and UBCDWin, I tried many of the utilities in these with no result. Last thing, using UBCDWin (from which all my files were there and the D partition was ok and has its original name), I managed to copy both my original partitions, C and D, on an external USB 2 drive, so I probably would be able to recover all my data if I'll reinstall Windows and format disks from scratch, but before doing this I'd like to see if there's some other option...
I bought 2- 2 mb RAM memory for my 9410 to upgrade to 4 MB of ram. My computer only recognizes 2 MB, When I put in the 2nd board it will not start up?

I've been trying to restore my system back to factory defaults for a while now. I've tried pressing ALT + F10 at startup, but it just beeps loudly and brings me to a command screen, saying:

I've tried several 'fixes' but have had no luck, I would really appreciate somebody helping me, as it would save me in technician costs.
I've been using my netbook at my local library for 3 years. Acouple weeks ago, all of a sudden it lost contact with the library's wifi connection. The librarian tried everything he knew, no results. I later borrowed a laptop from the library, looked up fixes, tried them, but they didn't work.
Here's what happened: Got a padlock with a window saying failed to connect to a Windows service. The dependency service/group failed to start. A troubleshoot resulted in a yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it, saying network proxy settings can't be detected, though it also says detected.
Trying the fix on Acer support--checking to see if TCP/IP is working right--resulted in an error message, TCP/IP improperly installed.
Trying rewriting the registry keys didn't work.
Ditto the remove/reinstall network driver adapter.
Finally it said if this doesn't work, there's likely a hardware problem.
I have an Aspire E-17. I shut of the curser and or touchpad by mistake. How do I turn it back on?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer Aspire v3-551g-8454 laptop. Lately it has been shutting itself off after anywhere from 5 to 24 hours of it being turned on. In the past I could simply turn it back on and resume from there. Now, when I try to turn it back on, the power button just flashes a few times and the laptop doesn't turn on. The laptop doesn't feel overly hot anywhere on it's surface.

I have a acer aspire 7750 G with windows 8.1
When I take the laptop out of a sleep mode it goes immediately back into sleep mode. I do get the screen to enter my password but it's only there for like 2 seconds.
The second time I take it out, it works fine. Just a bit annoying that I have to do it twice pretty much 95 % of the time.
Aspire 7720-6604 Monitor Cracked. Is it easy to replace or should I send to shop? Where can I purchase a replacement and is there a special software to set it up again?

It flexes in to empty space due to there being no rear support. Can anybody confirm if there should be a top support fitted if no webcam is there.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought an Extenza 4420 a few weeks ago, and the screen cracked after only a week. I did not drop it or step on it or abuse it. Acer told me a replacement screen would cost $450 plus shipping costs. This doesn't seem right. The customer service at the store where I bought it, and also when I called Acer's customer service line offered no help at all.
My question is if there is anything I can do about it other than replacing the screen at my cost?
In trying to access the ram chips for upgrade I am trying to get the cover off. It is an unusually large sheet of plastic with four screws. Yes, I have loosened the screws but in trying to pull off the cover it is bending to the point of almost breaking and I don't want to force it. It is the 15.4 size gemstone.
View 4 Replies View RelatedFor a few months now when I switch my Acer Aspire 5535 on for about 5 mins it sounds like the fan is rubbing against the bottom cover. It does go away when it warms up but its not very good when I have to use it on the train or in the library!
Is there anything i can do? Can i take the cover off and have a look without damaging anything? The laptop runs fine otherwise.
