For a few months now when I switch my Acer Aspire 5535 on for about 5 mins it sounds like the fan is rubbing against the bottom cover. It does go away when it warms up but its not very good when I have to use it on the train or in the library!
Is there anything i can do? Can i take the cover off and have a look without damaging anything? The laptop runs fine otherwise.

View 4 Replies View Relatedi have a Acer 7720G laptop, if those who dont know the laptop, its not exactly that low powered so i dont think it should be suffering because its weak, its a dual core 2 duo cpu, i have 4gb ram in it and a 256mb video card.
when i am playing music generaly i will be browsing websites and as i am browsing, i find a lot when i am scrolling the music really starts stuttering a lot and then eventualy goes ok, am not sure why when i am viewing websites, and it seems like it can be any site.
i am using the newest realtek hd drivers at this time.
I bought my Acer Aspire 5738G laptop last november and this month I experienced for the first time my laptop shutting down by itself while playing cs-source.
The laptop is quite hot and upon searching the net found out that it's most likely due to overheating.
My question is about the ventilation at the bottom of 5738G.
Is it supposedly closed? No holes/slots? Cause I think it's the cause of overheating.
The system doesn't have a way to take-in air
It's like it was designed to be a bottom vent for air intake but then forgot to make holes in it.
I also searched for it's manual and confirmed that it is a ventilation slot.
It even says there "do not cover or obstruct the opening of the fan".
(I've got a screen shot attached. I'm talking about part 6. That part of my laptop doesn't have holes/slots but clearly there should be according to the manual.
In trying to access the ram chips for upgrade I am trying to get the cover off. It is an unusually large sheet of plastic with four screws. Yes, I have loosened the screws but in trying to pull off the cover it is bending to the point of almost breaking and I don't want to force it. It is the 15.4 size gemstone.

I have an eMachines EM250 (mechanically identical to the AO D250) and I can not for the life of me figure out what the small card slot on the bottom of the computer is. I know the memory slot and the HDD slot but the third slot is a mystery. I think it is a mini-PCI slot for a solid state memory module but I'd like to find a definitive answer before I go any further.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a 5920 that is just out of warranty and want to upgrade the 160 gig HD with a 500 gig WD. The 5920 is a wonderful machine and working fine. Looked like a five minute job to remove the ram/HD cover by removing the 7 screws visible on my rear cover. But, it wouldn't come off, felt like more screws were possibly under the MS Vista label on the cover. A web search resulted in a downloaded manual for the 5920 that said "remove 9 screws". No screws shown under the label. Looking around some more, I see 2 small "indents", for lack of a better word, that could hide the 2 missing screws. Were these 2 "indents" effectively "tamper-proof" plugs? Looking at this site, I see that others were removing 9 screws but it was also noted that the cover had to be "carefully" pried off after that. No mention of plugs. From a photo someone posted, it looks like the "indents" I see are at about the same location as 2 of the HD mounting screws. So, maybe ACER changed the design so that these two screws don't come off with the back cover anymore. Maybe the 2 "indents" I see are not "plugs" but simply undrilled holes so I only need to remove 7, not 9 screws and then do the prying. Questions: Does anyone know if these two "indents" are tamper-proof plugs or just undrilled holes? Then, I would like to know more about this "prying". What is being pried upon? A picture would be good. The back cover pictures I've seen here and in the repair manual do not show what must be pried upon.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI wanted to open my box to check the ease (or not) of a memory upgrade but had a helluva sweaty time trying to get the compartment cover off.
After undoing the 4 screws and getting it open a bit, it still seemed VERY firmly held in the vicinity of the fan vent area.
The plastic cover is pretty thin and I was terrified of breaking it, so tried a little prying, a bit of heaving, some levering, tugging, jabbing, swearing, praying etc. I even had the computer overturned and was looking for a way through the keyboard where I was convinced that a bolt must be holding the memory cover down.
Anyway it DID finally come loose but it was a bit scary, so I've made a couple of scans and added some notes on the lugs which were holding it in place in the hope that it might prove useful to others in the same predicament.
One scan is of the actual lid and the other is of what's inside, in case you get to feel like pushing a screwdriver in there - (don't).
I've found a source for the replacement part through EXTENSIVE research- and found an online user manual. I am not used to building/opening laptops, so I don't know whether
I'll need special tools to replace the broken back cover; are there any other parts I may need (such as hinges, antenna WiFi).
Is this even a job I should take on or is it pretty easy?
The LCD is fine- it's JUST the plastic cover I need to replace.
I picked up a 9600m GT on ebay and need help removing the bottom cover. The full bottom panel needs to be removed as it is trapping the copper pipes from the heatsink. Can anyone direct me to a guide on how this is done on a 7720g?

Heres my problem.
I have an acer laptop, with a faulty DVD RW.
I need to remove it, but the screw on the bottom, which needs to be removed in order to take out the cd drive, has been damaged by me trying to unscrew it, and it will not turn, so the head is damaged and i cannot use a screw driver to turn it.
i just want to know how to take the bottom off of my xps so i can clean it but it wont come off i took out all the screws and it still wont come apart

1. Throttling Issue (No real fix so far)
2. Random freezing (Speculations about driver fix)
3. Brightness control stops working randomly (remove batery to fix)
4. Sub-buffer rattles (nobody knows why)
5. Stereo leaks between left and right (no fix)
6. System runs extremely hot (1645 a little bit less than 1640)
All-in-all nice looking and feature complete laptop with a lot of issues.
I know people have stated that they are liking there new laptop. My question is more of a what would you do type deal. How does the 1730 perform in vista with wow and world in conflict etc? are u guys having any studdering issues? Reason I'm asking is that im getting ready to pull the trigger on this or a alienware 9750. I have never used vista, my desktop is running xp.

I recently purchased a new dv7t-3000. I replaced the internal hard drive with an Intel X-25M 160GB SSD and re-installed Windows 7.
I'm writing because I'm hearing an annoying noise coming from the subwoofer. It sounds like induced RF noise. I hear the noise regardless of whether the speakers are muted or not. I've also disabled or muted all the audio recording devices, but no change.
It basically sounds like radio frequency noise, probably induced from some other component in the laptop whose leads run close to or over the speaker wire for the subwoofer.
I slipped up a few times and caused hairline scratches on the underside plate of my 13" MBP when I installed my Momentus XT (which I am now returning and getting X25-M). My heart dropped when I heard these screeching noises, but it doesn't look too bad and hopefully eliminates the OCD I tend to have with electronics.

I've been hearing pops, clicks, clacks, something that sounds something is constantly being turned on and off, and a very faint sound that sounds almost like a fan, but is coming from more near the middle or right side of the laptop than where the fan is.
Just wondering how bad these sounds are, or if they're natural laptop sounds that for some reason I just never heard.
my M1330 casing has bent up so that it can't stand solid. I think it feels less when it's hot and more when it's cold... I have 2 years of NBD remaining, and that was not my fault...
can I request a repair or return? what is more one of the hinges (right) is very loose. Can i do something with this issue?
I ask this because it's semi-common on enthusiast cars with weak points: Would anyone be interested in making a custom, aluminum bottom panel for the XPS 16 with air holes and screw holes pre-drilled?
I imagine it would maintain/add rigidity while providing greater heat dissipation (especially with an aluminum cooler underneath) and provide greater air flow around the hot under-touchpad side.
I ask because I imagine this would be a fairly simple thing to create, since it's a single sheet of aluminum with hole drilled at precise areas, vs. some of the more exotic individually-made parts I've seen.
I received my M6400 with 1920 x 1200 RGB LED Display, I just noticed that at the Left Bottom corner there is an Orange type color shadow, just on top of the Start buttom in the taskbar, is this normal ? do I have to ask Dell for a replacement ?, do I need to do any color adjustment configuration ?

Synaptics have released several driver versions since the 16.3.7.0 driver, up to 16.3.8.8, fixing many issues including a BSOD, whereas so far for the L521x we have just had A03 and A04 variants of the same driver (16.3.7.0), neither of which solve this problem.
I have an HDX18 with IDT HD Sound (Vista Ultimate 64-bit). I've noticed an annoying popping sound with most applications. For instance, when using Trillian instant messenger, when I receive a message the speakers make a distinct pop at the start of the "ding" and at the end. The sound itself is clear, but always initiates and concludes with some kind of pop or click.
This is the same for all Windows sounds (which I've now disabled because of the audio annoyance). I tried disabling the Dolby effects through the IDT control panel, but that made things worse!
why can't i hear notification sound from the normal msn for mac not the new beta one? i checked in the settings of msn and notification sounds are enabled?
