Dell :: E6400 Display : New Window Is Flying Off The Screen?
Nov 19, 2009I just undocked (where I have two monitors) and am now using Outlook with a LinkedIn addon feature on my laptop. For some reason,
when I open the LinkedIn app, the screen that opens is nowhere to be found. Its in mytaskbar but when I open and close it, its flying off to the right as if there were a second display still attached.
I checked the display settings and I am on one monitor.
Any idea how I can get that window to display on this screen?

Battery has been dead a long time. My display drivers and BIOS have recently been updated from HP website. After a power failure and a restart, the display looks weird. It was shifted about an inch downwards with a black border at the top, over which the mouse will not go, and the taskbar is not visible as is off the bottom of the screen.
When I go to Screen Resolution from Windows by right clicking on desktop resolution is set as 1024x768, when I click on Advanced Settings, Monitor tab, Monitor is set as Generic Non-PnP Monitor (1024x768 60Hz). When I change to 1024x600 it looks blurry and stretched vertically, but the screen is still shifted downwards with black border on top.
When I enter Intel Graphics Settings I can do the same changes as in the Windows dialog box (640x480, 800x600,1024x600,1024x768).
In the Aspect Ratio Options when I select Fullscreen (No-Border) the Black border is fixed but the screen still appears streched vertically but the screen is cut off at the bottom with no Taskbar visible. Re-installed graphics driver as well as a few Monitor Type Drivers from windows, nothing changes. When I turn the notebook on, the HP Quickweb screen also appears as a 1024x600 stretched vertically with no black border at top but going off the display at the bottom.
It appears that Windows and Hp Quickweb see the display as 1024x768 60Hz after the power failure. Before that, I had installed some Windows Updates but nothing related to Display drivers. I only had a System Restore point from earlier that day (very low free hard drive space?) but that didnt do anything.
Guessing it's a registry/driver problem since no pixels are bad and the black border on top is fixed in Aspect Ratio Options when I select Fullscreen (No-Border).
Dell :: I9300 Display Issue Bottom Half Turns To Lines
Sep 26, 2007Yesterday I set my laptop on my desk and the bottom portion of the screen turned into a colored mess.
I don't exactly know how to explain it so I've placed thumbnails below to better show you what is happening. The screen remained like this until I picked it up and placed it down again, then it went back to normal. However, now every time I pick it up it does the same thing and won't return to normal unless I set it down a certain way. Has anyone had this problem before, or can anyone help me solve this issue?
I am currently running an Inspiron 9300 with a 1.60 GHz M Processor, ATI Radeon X300 128 MB, 2GB of Ram, and XP Pro.My specific screen is the 17 inch LCD WUGA.
Dell Inspiron 5520 :: 8 Beeps But Display Started Showing White Lines At Top And Bottom
Nov 28, 2014I have a 1 year old dell inspiron 5520 and about a month or two back, the display started showing white lines at the top and bottom. One day, it stopped working and we gave it to this tech guy. He replaced the motherboard and battery(The laptop worked but was noticeably slower). The white lines still existed and the screen started jumping up and down. Changing the refresh rate worked temporarily. And then my mother gave it to the tech guy again. She got suspicious of him and asked him to return it. And he did but now, the laptop display won't boot and there's the 8 beeps. I connected the laptop to our properly working PC monitor to see if it was the laptop's display's fault. But, it still gives 8 beeps and the monitor shows a blank black screen.

The only thing I don't understand is, I got that wireless remote but I thought there is a pocket on the side of the laptop that I can put the remote in there?
Well, after wiping windows I began the steps to put on Linux. Now I've never had a laptop so I'm not sure if this is a common thing or a problem,
but on the bottom of my LCD screen it seems that the screen is secured too tight to the casing. It gives off a whitish blur at the bottom of the screen only in black displays.
Acer :: Fitting A Wifi Antenna
Jun 11, 2009I'm upgrading my friends TM2200, and installing a Wifi card and antenna. The antenna needs to go inside the laptop cover (as you probably know), but there's a foil sheet inside behind the LCD screen.
Can anyone tell me if I just stick the antenna pads onto the foil, or do I need to remove small sections of the foil and stick them to the plastic?
It's a Tyco antenna I'm fitting.
HP/Compaq :: Fitting Desktop On TV With HDMI
Apr 5, 2009I had nvidias latest driver, but it made my DV9774 fan run erratic most times. It came on for a second and off for 30 seconds, just while I was browsing the net. It was odd. It also ran full speed for a few minutes after boot, when it was clap cold.
So I went back to the older driver for now and the fan is fine.
The issue is, with nvidias latest driver that I removed there was a handy feature in the nvidia GeForce control panel in Display Properties that had big arrows on screen on my TV and sliders to resize the desktop so you can see the taskbars and start button, and nothing went off the edge.
Now with the older driver package that feature is gone....of course now when watching stuff via HDMI on my widecreen HDTV stuff goes off the edges and can't click on anything at the bottom, etc.
Is there an app or even anything from nvidia I can get to do the same thing, without installing the latest driver that caused my fan to do what it liked? If it was the driver at fault, it might have been anything in that whole latest pack I got from nvidia before, that made the fan act up.

Nov 16, 2009After using my new Vaio Z for a few hours i noticed a slightly greenish hue at the bottom of the screen(1600x900). It's mostly visible with white or very light background.
There are a few of those spots and i think it originates from uneven LED backlight. It's not instantly obvious, but after i've noticed it I find it somewhat distracting.

Here's an example of an icon that should look the same, but it looks distinctly different (and it's not the camera exposure -- what you see is more or less how it is). Should I return the machine and get another? Do you think Apple will even consider it an issue if I wanted to get it replaced? Do you guys have the same thing? I only noticed when I had a lot of the same icon scattered on my desktop and the same icon looks noticeably different. Of course, I am always the person to notice anything about electronics whereas other people would never have so much as a clue. even though the video files are what got me seeing that things are different, you can kind of see it with the folder icons as well.

Dec 3, 2014I have a M17x R3 laptop since a few years. A few weeks ago I sent it to the shop to have a SSD installed and have Win7 reinstalled (Windows Explorer kept crashing all the time and I wasnt able to format for some reason). When it got back from the shop, I realized a problem that was not there before.
There are 2 horizontal lines, one at the top and one at the bottom of my screen that keep flickering. They dont appear when I'm on the desktop or playing games, only when I have a program running (iTunes, Steam, DivX, etc) in fullscreen.
Here are my specs
Alienware M17X R3
Windows 7 64 bit
AMD Radeon HD 6870M (I also have Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000 in my display drivers. Just noticed that the version for both is 9.3.0)
6GB RAM
Dont know if it has anything to do with this, but when I got my laptop back I tried to install Cataclyst Control Center and it messed up my graphics bad, I could only run 640x480 and the only way to fix this was to uninstall CCC.

May 20, 2009Everything works great with the adapter except for one thing. Once I wake the Macbook up from sleep, the TV doesn't detect it and stays "asleep". Aug 3, 2012As an experiment I just installed WIN8 on my HP210 Mini. It seems to work just fine, except for the apps. WIN warns me that they cannot run because they require a resolution of 1060*768 wheras the original driver for the HP210 only supports up to 1060*600.

Apr 25, 2010I bought a miniDisplay Port to HDMI and 3 HDMI Cables and a HDMI splitter from seller mambate on eBay. Surprisingly it was all really good quality, the audio works well, I wish I had a surround sound system to test it on but I use optical audio for HT. So my Hanns G 28 Monitor is really the only thing I could test it on, and it works.
The Splitter comes wit a remote too which I thought was cool.

Funny side note, the MBP quicktime plays better 1080p vids on the HannsG dont know why. either way plex is the best program for videos.

May 10, 2010I have a 13.3" MBP and a HP LP3065 monitor. At times, I would like to use the monitor for more real estate. I know there is the Apple mini display port to dual-link dvi adapter. Are there any other options that I will be able to use my monitor at 2560x1600 resolution with the MBP?
The reviews for the apple adapter suck and basically all of them have flickering issues. I would hate to buy it, return it, and waste my time on something I know that has a great chance of failure.

Nov 3, 2014Currently whenever I startup my laptop the display flickers. If windows fully boots or I try to enter one of the startup menus the will flash briefly on the screen and then the display will return to and remain black.
I am able to run an HDMI cable to my TV and it seems to be running fine other than going black with the occasional distorted picture of windows booting.

Photodon LCD protector sheets were highly rated, and since Photodon is in my home state of Michigan I ordered from them. I went with a larger than normal custom cut for my HP dv4z's Infinity display, figuring (correctly) that I'd want the film to be a little larger than the LCD panel since there's no bezel. I got the width right, 310mm, but I guessed low on the height. 194mm should be about right. Being mechanically disinclined I did a poor job applying the film but it still looks good. Some pics:
