I have a new MacBook Pro 13" 2.66GHz.
I have seen adaptors that allow me to output via HDMI.
Obviously HDMI carries audio as well as video - but will my MacBook output both audio and video through the mini display port?
I bought a miniDisplay Port to HDMI and 3 HDMI Cables and a HDMI splitter from seller mambate on eBay. Surprisingly it was all really good quality, the audio works well, I wish I had a surround sound system to test it on but I use optical audio for HT. So my Hanns G 28 Monitor is really the only thing I could test it on, and it works.
The Splitter comes wit a remote too which I thought was cool.

Funny side note, the MBP quicktime plays better 1080p vids on the HannsG dont know why. either way plex is the best program for videos.
At university, there are projectors which are used when doing a demo or presenting our software. I wanted to know if the mini display port to vga converter works flawlessly with projectors.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a 13.3" MBP and a HP LP3065 monitor. At times, I would like to use the monitor for more real estate. I know there is the Apple mini display port to dual-link dvi adapter. Are there any other options that I will be able to use my monitor at 2560x1600 resolution with the MBP?
The reviews for the apple adapter suck and basically all of them have flickering issues. I would hate to buy it, return it, and waste my time on something I know that has a great chance of failure.
I also have Logitech Z-5500 speakers that I would like to use with my Macbook. Would a toslink to mini-toslink cable work?

I noticed that the macbook unibody does not have firewire port.
So if I need to use firewire device, then I have to get the USB to firewire adapter for it.
I just want to get this right, if I use the adapter then that means I will get tranfer rate of general USB 2.0 speed which is 480Mb/s. Is that right?
If it is, then I'm gonna miss the higher transfer rate of firewire on old macbooks

I just got a new macbook pro last monday and one of the usb ports doesnt work... I bought it at an apple store about 45 minutes from where I live... and I have set up an appointment with the genius bar (this is the only option they gave me). Do you think they will just replace it and give me another one (new)? I am a CS student taking summer classes and it is required for me to have a laptop. The laptop is only 10 days old... and I still have all of the original cd's, case, etc...

View 10 Replies View RelatedEverything works great with the adapter except for one thing. Once I wake the Macbook up from sleep, the TV doesn't detect it and stays "asleep". I would have to unplug and replug the wire. I've also notice that sometimes my TV would be full screen, sometimes it would have a black bar on the left and right side.

I am looking into getting a 13 inch Macbook, but I will not buy it if the screen quality is bad because I have to watch a lot of high quality video.
I watch movies off my laptop on my 50" Plasma. On my old PC I would hook it up and press FN & F6 (i believe) and it would swap the screen from my laptop to my Plasma then I would close the screen of my laptop and the movie would continue to play.
Now on the Mac I found out I can mirror the display which is what I want, but when I play a video I want my laptop screen/display to turn off so that it doesnt annoy me when im watching a movie in a dark room. Right now it goes all black but is still clearly on. I do have the top right corner set to turn off my display but when I do that while the movie is playing my secondary display (TV) turns off as well. I would perfer to be able to close the lid and not have it sleep/close the video but it seems on a Mac this is not possible due to the power settings.

how to make my screen get better colours as it seems pale. i tried the program and it works quite well. i changed the setting in the non expert thing from 1.8 standard to 2.2 television and its got a lot better colours. if you use the expert setting,im sure you can get even better colours but i find it hard. try this and im sure it will help you, post any expert calibrations if you can with screen shots. il try to make one now. to get to it, apple logo > system pref > display > color > calibrate....
View 4 Replies View RelatedThese questions go out to the owners of the new 17" unibody Macbook Pro. Before I may my final purchase...I was hoping you could help clarify a few things as I have yet to see any reviews for this particular laptop in full depth... especially here on notebookreview.
1) Does the laptop get pretty warm? The palm rest? The bottom of the laptop when putting it on my lap?
2) The edge-to-edge display, do you notice any dusts getting in it? Is there an issue with dust going inside at all? I have an HP dv5t with that infinity display and I have to say, I have 2-3 dust specs inside the dang thing.
3) When you close the laptop, do the keyboards leave marks on the screen? What if I use that keyboard protector that Apple has on their website?
4) Any issues with grease building up on the black keyboard?
i reformatted my 13" pro and after some updates i notice that my screen had a more of a yellowish tint to it. before i guessed it might of had a blueish tint to it? i cant seem to figure it out why might i have a yellowish tint now verse the other tint i had. i have played with color options under the color and there was no way that is was that blueish color. i think ill format again and see if it fixes it. if you have any input please let me know. right now it is on
View 8 Replies View RelatedI should like to connect my old hp2710p to TV via HDMI. So I connect the displayport of the docking with an hdmi adpater but it doesn't work.
If I connect my hp2760p, everything goes.
The 2710p has w7 32bit, last version o BIOS and drivers.
I left my 15" (late 2008) MacBook Pro in sleep for a few days, and when I opened it again today there are red dots flickering across shades of black on my external monitor, with both the 9600M and the 9400M. Since so many people leave their MacBook Pro on all of the time (I don't usually), I'm assuming that I haven't damaged anything. My MacBook Pro didn't seem hot, either. After restarting my MBP (and installing the new updates), the flickering red dots are still there.
Do you think that this will go away if I leave the system off for a day or that the logic board/video card is permanently damaged? I really, really don't trust that the Genius Bar could do a repair without damaging my MBP, and I really never take it anywhere so I wouldn't have a way to bring my MBP in that I would be happy with without spending money on a case. What are the chances that I could get a replacement MacBook Pro or a $2500 credit? I figure that a Mac Pro or an iMac would suit me better, anyway, since I don't travel with my MacBook Pro. My MBP is in pristine condition (you literally wouldn't be able to tell between mine and a brand new MBP) partly because I always have it hooked up to an external keyboard, mouse, and monitor, and because I prefer it that way, it helps resale as well. I wouldn't want to be dissatisfied with a repair for a $2500 system, which I could already see happening, so I'd really just like a replacement system if this problem doesn't go away...
Yoga S1 output audio through the mini HDMI port? I see it listed as a possible output in "sound", but it just says "not connected". Not sure if it is my TV, my laptop, or the HDMI to mini HDMI cable I'm using.

I figured it wouldn't be a big deal to find one after the fact, but now that I'm looking the only DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter Dell has to order is $59.99 !! Any ideas one where to get one closer to $15?

I've got a E6400, E4300 and E4200 that I'm using with a E Port replicator.
I'm connecting it to a dell ultrasharp U2410 monitor via display port.
Several times a day, the monitor will go blank and say there is no signal, then 10 seconds later turn back on.
Several more times a day the monitor will go into standby and say there is no signal, the only way to get it back on is to open up the laptop and press FN F8 several times to switch the outputs, and sometimes that will work, other times it won't. in that case I have to either reboot the computer, or go into the intel graphics settings, tell it to use single monitor, and use the dell digital u2410.
I've called dell support, they are useless. I've updated the video drivers, I've reloaded the computer, I've tried 3 computers (but on the same dock since I only have one docking station).
I've got a co-worker that just got an E6400 and E-Port Plus docking station with 130W power supply.
The machine is running 32-bit Windows XP with an nVidia Quadro NVS 160m and she has two Dell 2001FP monitors connected to the DVI ports on the docking station.
I can't seem to get dual displays on the external monitors. With the laptop closed and docked, the machine only recognizes one of the monitors that is plugged in to the dock.
The e4200 has 1 powered usb port and an esata/usb combo port only right? Also I heard it takes a second battery and has display port out?
Dell's site didn't explain that well and I'd like to know from someone who has one.

I am planning to get 2x 23inch monitors 1920x1200. So now here is the situation. I want to connect both of these to my sony vaio z. I have found solutions such as the Matrox DualHead2Go box and what not.. But i was wondering if i can get the sony z docking station and use that for dual output. Unlike some other threads that i've read my situation would be to plug the hdmi on the laptop to monitor1 and the dvi from the docking station to monitor 2.

When I plug my M4400 into my TV via DisplayPort->HMDI, the video and audio play fine on the tv.. However the video and audio also continue to play on the laptop. The video is no big deal-
I can lower the lid, or point it in a different direction. But the doubling of the audio through the laptop speakers is a serious pain .....
So I've just got a e6400 for e-port plus.
Is it possible to have two external monitors AND the laptop display all running at the same time? If so how?
Even better would be this: I have two external monitors - both vga with no DVI (oh well). Can I get this working?
