Yoga S1 output audio through the mini HDMI port? I see it listed as a possible output in "sound", but it just says "not connected". Not sure if it is my TV, my laptop, or the HDMI to mini HDMI cable I'm using.

Yesterday I bought a little 22" Vizio VW22L television to use as another monitor for my W530. I'm using this cable: [URL] to connect my computer to the TV. When I connected it at first it worked fine for about 45 minutes then I just got screen noise (short, multicolored vertical bars moving everywhere). Now whenever I try connecting it I get my computer's display on the TV for a couple minutes, then the screen noise again.
I was wondering what the issue is or could be. The cable seems to work fine. I tested it with a Magnavox television and a different Vizio TV. This TV's HDMI port also seems to work fine. I had my brother connect his Samsung Series 3 to it via HDMI and it ran perfectly well. The Lenovo update utility says all my drivers are up to date, as does Windows update.
My new Yoga 2 Pro has a secondary display connected through the micro HDMI port. This worked like a charm initially. But after upgrading to newest Windows 8.1 (this is done automatically) it no longer outputs anything to the micro HDMI port. Display and cable is fully functional. But even though the display is powered on, the computer fails to register it and apparently it cannot output anything. Seems like the micro HDMI port is non-existing.
After the windows upgrade I have tried to uninstall / reinstall the display driver. I have also upgraded the Intel drivers to Win 8.1 versions found on the Lenovo support site (including BIOS 76CN38, Intel HD 4400 display driver 15.33.18.64.3496 and chipset 9.4.0.1026). But nothing seems to work.
I have a ThinkPad X240 laptop with Windows 8.1 Enterprise x64 installed. Sound plays just fine from the laptop's speakers, and when I plug external speakers into the laptop's 3.5mm audio port they work just fine too. when the laptop is docked in my Ultra Dock 90W docking station and the external speakers cable is plugged into the dock's audio port, no sound is heard. If I'm playing music through the laptop's speakers, as soon as I plug a cable into the dock's audio port no sound is heard. I can still use the laptop's audio port to connect external speakers, but that defeats the object of having an audio port on the Ultra Dock.
The Ultra Dock has (I believe) the latest firmware installed (version 2.22.000) and I have the latest audio drivers installed: in Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers > Realtek High Definition Audio > Driver version is 6.0.1.7188 which is the latest available from Lenovo Support downloads. What do I need to do to get the Ultra Dock's audio port working? I mistakenly posted this message on the "X Series tablet ThinkPad Laptops" board.

If I plug into a TV the sound comes from the TV so cable is OK. The HDMI port is 1.2 which allows for a PCM 8 audio stream signal.
I have a receiver that allows for internal 7.1/5.1 Audio streams (all of the latest codecs can be decoded and processed) with HDMI output/input connections.
Will I be able to send a 5.1 PCM Audio stream to my AV Receiver and thereby utilizing the full range of audio?
I have an A/V receiver which supports HD sound up to DTS-HD MA and with my old laptop I was able to bitstream DTS audio from movies with an optical toslink cable. When I saw the Yoga 2 Pro laptop had a microHDMI port, I assumed that I would be able to get DTS audio and maybe DTS-HD and DD TrueHD audio from HD movies by bitstreaming it to my receiver. I've only tried it with VLC and where I was able to get the spdif pass through working for DTS audio before, this has not proved straightforward with this laptop. Trying passing the audio to their receiver to get HD audio? Is this generally not possible with laptops?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy U330P is running Windows 7 with the latest drivers for both the Intel HD video module and the Realtek audio chip. I would like to connect my machine to a TV via HDMI and have it both act both as the display as well as the audio playback device (i.e. TV speakers should blare, not the ones in my Ideapad).
The thing is, I don't have said TV yet and if what I want to do is not possible, I will not bother buying it. I already did look around in Control Panel -> Sound -> Playback in order to find out whether there's an option to set the HDMI port as a playback device but found nothing. I also have the playback devices menu display disconnected and deactivated devices, but the only thing showing is the built-in stereo speakers. The listings in my device manager don't suggest something like a "digital sound whatnot" either.
So in general whether the audio signal can be rerouted to the HDMI output connector on a U330P.
I have an issue when using the HDMI port.With the Yoga 3 in Laptop mode, when I plug in the HDMI port, the screen flips 180 degrees and then flips back when I unplug it.It also flips back correctly when I close the lid.Is there a setting that I need to change to prevent this from happening?

I'm planning on buying a new laptop soon and have been going through some of the threads regarding the HDMI port and I am a bit confused.
I would like to be able to take a 1080p/5.1 BD or .mkv on my laptop and connect it to my AV receiver via HDMI which then outputs 1080p/5.1 to my HDTV/speakers. I have no idea what minimum video card/sound card/processor is required for this.

My TV is Panasonic TH-L32B6. When I connect my laptop to TV it shows me awful picture quality and notification that “this is not optimal screen resolution for the primary display. The optimal res. Is 1280x720”. But with 1280x720 it’s still awful. It works fine just with 1024x768 res. I have no such a problem with my other TV LG 47LS570Y. How can i fix picture quality with higher resolution? I tried another OS like Ubuntu and a couple of hdmi cables…(see attachment)

I bought my lenovo G460 with nvidia M310 (with hdmi) this year and have not been able to get the hdmi port to work.
I have two lcd displays one in our lab and another one at home (LG 2361V-PF) which have hdmi connections in the back.
In the beginning I was able to get my notebook to work on the display in our office. However, now both displays (work+home) are not working.
I have tried to reinstall latest nvidia drivers as of 2010-11-02 (ver. 8.16.11.8990) from lenovo, completely restore Operating system and tried different hdmi cables.
I have even tried to use original drivers and also downgrade that to a lower version all with no luck.
I have even taken my LG LCD display to the LG After Service Warranty office and have found no issues wrong with the Monitor itself.
I am sure I have taken all the trouble-shooting methods into consideration so a simple question is... Is the hdmi port defective?
I am thinking of getting the Dell UltraSharp U2713HM external monitor and use it with my y510p Lenovo laptop. My question is: Is there any way to get the 2560x1440 resolution out of the monitor using only VGA or HDMI port of this laptop?

Are there any E6400 with nVidia quadro nvs160 users that have successfully gotten digital audio out through the displayport using a displayport --> HDMI cable?

The sound coming out of the speaker as well as the sound when I was using a headphone was just not right, barely any low frequency sound. In the beginning I can fix this by reinstalling the audio driver. Then after a week or so the same problem would occur again, and I had to reinstall the driver. After several times, reinstalling the audio driver cannot solve the problem anymore. Besides if I plug in the headphone after I muted the laptop, it should unmute automatically right? Well that does not happen and it's still muted.

It is labeled in Device Manager: 1-STD HDMI TV (AMD High Definition Audio)
The monitor and hdmi cable work fine with other computers. I have disabled/enabled the HDMI device, and also updated drivers (Windows says my drivers are up to date).
