Everything works great with the adapter except for one thing. Once I wake the Macbook up from sleep, the TV doesn't detect it and stays "asleep". I would have to unplug and replug the wire. I've also notice that sometimes my TV would be full screen, sometimes it would have a black bar on the left and right side.

Obviously HDMI carries audio as well as video - but will my MacBook output both audio and video through the mini display port?
At university, there are projectors which are used when doing a demo or presenting our software. I wanted to know if the mini display port to vga converter works flawlessly with projectors.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI bought a miniDisplay Port to HDMI and 3 HDMI Cables and a HDMI splitter from seller mambate on eBay. Surprisingly it was all really good quality, the audio works well, I wish I had a surround sound system to test it on but I use optical audio for HT. So my Hanns G 28 Monitor is really the only thing I could test it on, and it works.
The Splitter comes wit a remote too which I thought was cool.

Funny side note, the MBP quicktime plays better 1080p vids on the HannsG dont know why. either way plex is the best program for videos.
I have a 13.3" MBP and a HP LP3065 monitor. At times, I would like to use the monitor for more real estate. I know there is the Apple mini display port to dual-link dvi adapter. Are there any other options that I will be able to use my monitor at 2560x1600 resolution with the MBP?
The reviews for the apple adapter suck and basically all of them have flickering issues. I would hate to buy it, return it, and waste my time on something I know that has a great chance of failure.
I also have Logitech Z-5500 speakers that I would like to use with my Macbook. Would a toslink to mini-toslink cable work?
As an experiment I just installed WIN8 on my HP210 Mini. It seems to work just fine, except for the apps. WIN warns me that they cannot run because they require a resolution of 1060*768 wheras the original driver for the HP210 only supports up to 1060*600.
Question: is there a way to cope with this problem and get the apps working?

But the higher resolution display just shows (Coming Soon) when I click on the Specs for the Mini 2140....

Photodon LCD protector sheets were highly rated, and since Photodon is in my home state of Michigan I ordered from them. I went with a larger than normal custom cut for my HP dv4z's Infinity display, figuring (correctly) that I'd want the film to be a little larger than the LCD panel since there's no bezel. I got the width right, 310mm, but I guessed low on the height. 194mm should be about right. Being mechanically disinclined I did a poor job applying the film but it still looks good. Some pics:

Battery has been dead a long time. My display drivers and BIOS have recently been updated from HP website. After a power failure and a restart, the display looks weird. It was shifted about an inch downwards with a black border at the top, over which the mouse will not go, and the taskbar is not visible as is off the bottom of the screen.
When I go to Screen Resolution from Windows by right clicking on desktop resolution is set as 1024x768, when I click on Advanced Settings, Monitor tab, Monitor is set as Generic Non-PnP Monitor (1024x768 60Hz). When I change to 1024x600 it looks blurry and stretched vertically, but the screen is still shifted downwards with black border on top.
When I enter Intel Graphics Settings I can do the same changes as in the Windows dialog box (640x480, 800x600,1024x600,1024x768).
In the Aspect Ratio Options when I select Fullscreen (No-Border) the Black border is fixed but the screen still appears streched vertically but the screen is cut off at the bottom with no Taskbar visible. Re-installed graphics driver as well as a few Monitor Type Drivers from windows, nothing changes. When I turn the notebook on, the HP Quickweb screen also appears as a 1024x600 stretched vertically with no black border at top but going off the display at the bottom.
It appears that Windows and Hp Quickweb see the display as 1024x768 60Hz after the power failure. Before that, I had installed some Windows Updates but nothing related to Display drivers. I only had a System Restore point from earlier that day (very low free hard drive space?) but that didnt do anything.
Guessing it's a registry/driver problem since no pixels are bad and the black border on top is fixed in Aspect Ratio Options when I select Fullscreen (No-Border).
Does the Helix's Mini Displayport support audio output?
Since this is not mentioned specifically on the Lenovo Specs Sheet, was wondering if any Helix owners have successfully connected the MDP to HDMI with clear audio?
I just ordered the basic Mac Mini tonight. Picked up 4GB of ram from newegg and a 500gb HDD. Shopping for a LCD now.
Is the GPU good enough to power a 26'' monitor? I'd be willing to go to 24'' at the lowest.
I saw this over on MacRumors and am more interested in them lettting OS X send sound out of the mini display port than the actual HDMI on the Mac Mini. If what I have read over the last few months is true, OS X is the only thing stopping sound from going out of the mini display port (granted you are using a monoprice HDMI adaptor already).

My MDP to Hdmi arrived today and works great on my Dell 24" however my Logitech Nano mouse would randomly become laggy like its losing signal causing the mouse pointer becomes jerky. Once I unplug the MDP the mouse works fine again.

View 10 Replies View RelatedTaking the Mini apart is very easy. Slide the putty knife, as others describe, into either side of the Mini, and just bend outward. That process takes under 30 seconds, and don't be afraid to make little scratches on the white plastic underneath. It WILL happen a little bit, but it's so minor that nobody will notice, and... well.... it's underneath! So who cares?
Here was my model Mini with 1GB, out of the box, with only 128MB Geforce 9400m available.
Taking it apart is VERY easy. Just remove the lid as described above, remove the 3 antennas from their clips (NOT from the motherboard). That takes about 5 seconds. Then unscrew the 4 screws in the corners of the system, taking special note of their original location! Then all you need to do is prop up the DVD drive and get your hand in there and remove the single DIMM. I was pleasantly surprised to see a 1GB DIMM in there already, not 2x 512MB, so for those wanting to upgrade to 2GB and not 4GB DDR3, you just need one stick of 1GB! Nice one, Apple! (I, of course, assume that ALL 1GB Minis come like this...)..........................
I'm trying to figure out the difference between the two other than the casing (one's metal and one's plastic). The 2140 uses a SATA connector vs a PATA connector. So for $25 extra(lowest config 2140 vs highest config 1000) you get a metal case and SATA connector?
Why would anyone buy the 1000? Am I missing something? Oh and the 2140 has a higher volatage adapter for 'fast charging'...what's left for the 1000?
For anyone waiting to buy a Mini 9 or Mini 12, the price of the Mini 9 is now $299 and the Mini 12 is $399.
I think this is going to make the Mini 12 a much better offering for those that might need a little bit more screen and hard drive.
any display oddities when using the 9600M on the 17-inch Crapbook Pro in spite of (or possibly, because of...?) the firmware update.
I get 'tearing' of the window contents quite often - e.g. when scrolling in Finder, but also similar display issues in other applications as well. It's pretty annoying. Before the probably inevitable call to Applecare I was wondering if there was anything I could do about it? I've seen it on both of the machines I use in the main, while I haven't seen it on the spare - although this is probably because I only power it on to keep the machine in sync.
Some graphic designer from IconFactory is complaining about the subpar display quality of the new 13" MBP.

I've been looking a getting a Dell Mini 9 or 12 and reading as much as I can. One thing that comes through over and over again is that the Mini 9 is just about built to be hacked and upgraded while the Mini 12 is not.
RAM upgrade
Mini 9 is easy bring to 2GB with inexpensive RAM
Mini 12 has1 GB RAM soldered to the motherboard and is not upgradeable.
Drives
Mini 9 uses SSD. SSD drive replaceable with even larger faster SSD drives.
Mini 12 has 4200 rpm hard drive.
I watch movies off my laptop on my 50" Plasma. On my old PC I would hook it up and press FN & F6 (i believe) and it would swap the screen from my laptop to my Plasma then I would close the screen of my laptop and the movie would continue to play.
Now on the Mac I found out I can mirror the display which is what I want, but when I play a video I want my laptop screen/display to turn off so that it doesnt annoy me when im watching a movie in a dark room. Right now it goes all black but is still clearly on. I do have the top right corner set to turn off my display but when I do that while the movie is playing my secondary display (TV) turns off as well. I would perfer to be able to close the lid and not have it sleep/close the video but it seems on a Mac this is not possible due to the power settings.
Im loving my new macbook pro 2.66!

I had a similar issue with my new 13 MBP. The screen appeared yellowish, almist unsaturated colors and lower in contrast. I had a 9C9E screen version. Compared to the white macbook and imac that I have, the screen was brilliant, but something off with the colors. So I made a genius bar appointment. The "genius" told me that LCD's are all different and there is variation amongst them (i believe that is acceptable to a degree).
Apple products however are highly QC'ed. So this guy tried to sell me a 129.99 dollar calibrator to fix my problem. I kindly took him to 2 floor model pieces, and compared them to my MBP. And mine was the only one different. I was promptly given a replacement MBP, no questions asked. Now I have a 9C9F version and it is PERFECT!. I can truly make out the increased contrast, increased gamut of colors compared to my older macs.
So if you guys have issues go to the apple store. Don't let a genius make a fool out of you by selling you some more hardware.
I did try to calibrate the screen before I took it in with Super Cal... just something seemed off.

Exact same problem as this fellow here. My 9C9E seems extremely orange/yellow warm, and the colors are definitely not as saturated as I was expecting when comparing to my calibrated 24" panel......
