View 2 RepliesI just bought an Acer computer, and am to the point where I am about to return it for a MAC because I cant turn off the tap to click feature. I have tried going through the control panel and messing with the mouse settings. I have tried to install the elantech driver as well as the synaptics driver. I can't get the drivers to actually work. I have contacted Microsoft and they are basically like "we don't know so go ask Acer."

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am unable to find a way to disable tap to click on touchpad for Aspire v3-572. I don't see a tab for changing this setting in Mouse settings from Control Panel or anywhere else. I tried reinstalling the Synaptics driver from Acer Recovery Management but still no luck. This is not acceptable. Am I the only one having this problem?
View 4 Replies View Relatedi have a ACER Travelmate 2482WXMi, i have done a fresh install of windows XP home, i have done a full format of the hard drive, but i have issues the touchpad will not work only in safe mode. I have installed most of the drivers through safe mode, but the mouse will only work when i connect an external mouse when it's in normal mode.
Also i do get some bad sectors on the hard drive, and it takes over 2mins to shut down the comp. I havent installed programs yet, except PC Wizard 2008. Also the laptop is not the base model with 512MB ram i have added a 1gb stick and it works fine. I am thinking maybe its the hard drive. If
Have had my xps 16 for a few weeks. my power adapter is making some strange sounds. It's kind of like a really light fizzy/crackling sound. The best way to describe is that it sounds like a soda/carbonated beverage. Not all the time, just sometimes. I thought it was just random, but I was using it earlier, and noticed it made the sound when I was doing some task on the computer, i.e. scrolling down on the touchpad, or opening a folder, etc....????
Anybody experienced this? It's the 90W adapter, and I was going to call Dell and get the 130w anyway, but does anybody have any thoughts?
i know the 1535 is a little old, but starting just a couple or days ago whenever i play music or anything using the sound card theres this popping, laggy kind of noise.
ive tried using speakers, earphones and the built in speakers and it persists. this lead me to suspect the sound card itself.
Ive reinstalled the IDT drivers, and tried uninstalling it and using vista's default drivers too, and the problem persists. my warranty passed a few months ago and anyway im not in the same region as where i brought the computer.
i know there might not be much i can do without taking the computer compeltely apart but i would appreciate a few ideas. i have taken the back panel off and cleaned the dust.
I've got the model with the 4670 graphics & other than a few Vista gripes & this little problem I'm very happy with it.
The 'strange sounds' are similar to explorer mouse clicks & occur randomly, even if doing nothing & with sound themes turned off. I couldn't capture the sound from the line out (there was just a little crackle), but here's a recording from the built in mic: [url] What makes it impossible to ignore is that things wont respond as usual when the sound occurs. Eg. If you're navigating a menu it'll not display until the sound has gone.
Aiming to hit two birds with one stone I installed XP x64. Unsurprisingly there were no strange sounds after installation as I haven't yet got a sound card driver installed. The weird thing is that the very instant I installed the ATI graphics driver it started with the exact same sounds... Even tho Windows doesn't yet recognise the sound card.
my inspiron E-1505 that I haven't used in a couple months won't boot. It has power and is charging the battery. The battery is okay. I get lights on the unit when I push start but nothing past that. If the cmos battery was dead would it start anyway? I took the HD out and put it back in. I get nothing on the screen and no sounds at all. The led's on the MB all flash during start.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI turn on my laptop and there is no picture, the power light comes on, but no picture, it is black screen and then it is beeping continuously. This is all it will do. The battery started not keeping a charge for very long lately, but I am not sure this is what is causing the black screen and beeping. I have tried to remove it for a while and put it back in to no avail.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI went to turn on my Studio 1555 this morning about an hour ago, and nothing happened. The power light came on, as did the keyboard backlights, but nothing else. The display stayed off and unlit, and the thing started spewing beeps at me. First a series of three loud beeps: one long beep and two shorter ones (beeeeeep beep beep), a slight pause, and then a series of 6 softer short beeps. Dell's website and service manual have been no help, and I can't seem to find these beep codes anywhere. Also, I ran out of warranty months ago.
I've tried removing the memory sticks, swapping them, relocating them, tried different sticks and different slots, removed the WLAN and Bluetooth cards, and removed the hard drive.
I purchased Dell Inspiron N5110 last December, last one year i didn't got any problem with the laptop ,but once warranty got expired i got the problem like monitor display got damaged( which as rectified) ,
After that from past couple of days I am getting like 3 beep sounds from my laptop while start of my laptop and when shutdown of my laptop, why am getting three BEEP sounds from my laptop..
Whenever i turn on my laptop(DELL ispiron N5110), my system gives 5 continuous beeps thrice, i don't know the reason and what kind of failure it may be indicating. Few days back it was showing blank screen for a short duration when i turned it on.

i am using the newest realtek hd drivers at this time.
Recently I've started to hear some odd sounds coming from my DV2. I've been hearing pops, clicks, clacks, something that sounds something is constantly being turned on and off, and a very faint sound that sounds almost like a fan, but is coming from more near the middle or right side of the laptop than where the fan is.
Just wondering how bad these sounds are, or if they're natural laptop sounds that for some reason I just never heard.
I had been having some monitor distortion issues on my Dell XPS m1210 so yesterday I downloaded the nVidia GeForce Go 7400 from the Dell support website. Now I have even bigger issues. Upon restarting, I was left with a black screen and am not able to do anything. I don't even get a Dell screen to try launching the F8 or F12 tools at startup. The hard drive light is on and the notebook sounds ok but the screen is blank.
I tried to get to the diagnostic tools by using the CD and no luck that route either. I also read that I could try reinstalling Vista. Is that my only other option at this point?
I have an Inspiron 3437 when I turn on my laptop, the screen is black and I hear 3 beep sounds. What does it mean?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy computer will (most of the time when a browser is open, it seems to happen most frequently when I'm watching a video) begin making clicking and beeping sounds. I'm able to switch tabs and sound will play from the videos for about 20 seconds. After that the screen will freeze (I won't be able to switch tabs or close anything). I usually try to open task manager, but even that isn't an option. After waiting for my computer to shake itself out of this state, I hard shut down and then reboot. The computer has only "shaken" out of this state 2-3 times in 30 total occurrences.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an HDX18 with IDT HD Sound (Vista Ultimate 64-bit). I've noticed an annoying popping sound with most applications. For instance, when using Trillian instant messenger, when I receive a message the speakers make a distinct pop at the start of the "ding" and at the end. The sound itself is clear, but always initiates and concludes with some kind of pop or click.
This is the same for all Windows sounds (which I've now disabled because of the audio annoyance). I tried disabling the Dolby effects through the IDT control panel, but that made things worse!
why can't i hear notification sound from the normal msn for mac not the new beta one? i checked in the settings of msn and notification sounds are enabled?
View 6 Replies View RelatedFor a few months now when I switch my Acer Aspire 5535 on for about 5 mins it sounds like the fan is rubbing against the bottom cover. It does go away when it warms up but its not very good when I have to use it on the train or in the library!
Is there anything i can do? Can i take the cover off and have a look without damaging anything? The laptop runs fine otherwise.
I get an almost constant high-pitched noise coming from what sounds like the left side of the Envy15. The sound is probably in the 16khz range, probably goes undetected by a lot people but I always pick up on it. I've noticed the sound is interupted when I scroll a webpage so I thought it was crappy power regulation for the display or something. However, when same effect is there when using an external monitor and the laptop lid closed.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have had my 2008 unibody macbook for sometime now. 3 weeks ago there was a clunking sound in the fan constantly. picture a Ford Model T sound like " dugdugdugdugdug" or something i cant explain the sound. suddenly today it got a ton worse. now sounds like a lawnmower. Here is a video of someones macbook that sounds EXACTLY like mine.

My MacBook has recently been making crackling sounds (very static-ky), especially when I use YM or play the Funk sound in the Sound Preferences. Generally, the crackling sound occurs when I get an alert or any short bursts of sound that quickly plays. After that, the crackling goes away until the next abrupt alert plays.
Also, when I play the Funk sound in quick succession, the systemwide sound altogether fails. I know it's not a speaker thing since the same scenario occurs even when I use headphones.
Could it be a software or logicboard thing?
I have an Inspiron 15R N5110. For the most part, my laptop has been an amazing machine, but not today. Now when I try and boot up my computer all I get is a blank screen and 7 quick beeping sounds.
View 4 Replies View Relatedmy computer produces this crackling noise and everything begins to slow down. it doesnt happens everytime but most of the time. like when im watching a video, the crackling noise would come and the video would slow down and the sound would go into a low slow motion sound ..
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I start-up or resume from sleep my AAO often makes an extremely loud noise like the fan is trying to run but is having trouble. It almost sounds like it is revving up. It will do it two or three times then stop. It usually doesn't do it during normal use--only when I'm trying to start-up or resume.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have had my HP HDX16 for almost a year, probably 10 months. I can still send it in for repairs because the warranty is still in place.
Recently the fan has started to make some funny noise and it sounds more like a grinding sound that is subtle but still noticable. I was thinking of sending it in for repair, but when I sent my computer in last time they formatted everything just to replace the screen when I told them not to, so I really would just see if I can repair the issue myself and save myself the trouble of having to reinstall and download everything again.
How easy will it be to take off the bottom to get to the fan? I already blew air into and that made it go from loud to subtle, but it seems like it might be grinding against something or hitting something. Sometime if I tap on the area to the top left of the power button it will stop it for a couple of minutes.
I have received my new Yoga 2 13 a few days ago, after i used it 2 times it began making beep sounds every 2-3 minutes, without any reason I could see. There is no low battery, nor am i using too many keys at once (happens when I am not typing, for example in tablet mode, too). It happens when the Yoga is plugged in, too.
I don't think it can be overheating, since it happens when the only programm i use is Acrobat Reader for example.
