When I start-up or resume from sleep my AAO often makes an extremely loud noise like the fan is trying to run but is having trouble. It almost sounds like it is revving up. It will do it two or three times then stop. It usually doesn't do it during normal use--only when I'm trying to start-up or resume.

Have had my xps 16 for a few weeks. my power adapter is making some strange sounds. It's kind of like a really light fizzy/crackling sound. The best way to describe is that it sounds like a soda/carbonated beverage. Not all the time, just sometimes. I thought it was just random, but I was using it earlier, and noticed it made the sound when I was doing some task on the computer, i.e. scrolling down on the touchpad, or opening a folder, etc....????
Anybody experienced this? It's the 90W adapter, and I was going to call Dell and get the 130w anyway, but does anybody have any thoughts?
My computer will (most of the time when a browser is open, it seems to happen most frequently when I'm watching a video) begin making clicking and beeping sounds. I'm able to switch tabs and sound will play from the videos for about 20 seconds. After that the screen will freeze (I won't be able to switch tabs or close anything). I usually try to open task manager, but even that isn't an option. After waiting for my computer to shake itself out of this state, I hard shut down and then reboot. The computer has only "shaken" out of this state 2-3 times in 30 total occurrences.

Recently installed antivirus on 01/01/2012 because I had some kind of worm/malware. Windows 7 is the OS. Cap lock light is on and "hp combo assistant" light is on constant no blinking. Don't know what to do.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAlright, so I bought an Inspiron 15 7000 series laptop in October and I have two main issues with it.
One is that the w key keeps falling off. The plastic hinge thing underneath is broken.
Second, I think the hard drive is failing. It's making weird beeping sounds, clicking, takes a long time to boot up, crashes occasionally and moves icons around on my desktop every time I start the damn thing up.
My question: what can I do about it? How do I go about getting this fixed? I love the laptop aside from those problems. Is it covered under warranty? Do I go back to the store I bought it from, or do I just work it out with Dell?
my computer produces this crackling noise and everything begins to slow down. it doesnt happens everytime but most of the time. like when im watching a video, the crackling noise would come and the video would slow down and the sound would go into a low slow motion sound ..

anyway when watching videos on youtube with people playing games on the same laptop i found out that my laptop is slower than the ones other poeple have? i already tried to clean it with those air bottles but my laptop is still slower than the ones on youtube is there anyway to make my laptop faste without overclocking it because i dont wanna loose my warranty. another question i have is because of changing hardware i read some hreads about changing cpus most people recommended a core 2 duo t9300 but would it be a bis increase in my cause? when looking on alternate i saw that they have a t9600 for the same price so i wondered whether i could use that one as welll even though it has a fsb of 1066 instead of my 800 that im using right now another one i saw was the p8600 (its said penryn-3m i dont know what that means) but it also has a fsb of 1066
another thing is changing the graphic card first i have a question where i can buy graphic cards for laptops and then i read in a thread that the highest i can get is a 9650m gs because i only have a mxm II slot in my pc but on notebookcheck.com it says that the 9650 needs a mxm III slot. and the i have a question whether i could could use one of the new graphic cards from the geforce gtx 2000 serie

I've had this aspire 7720-6381 for about a week and a half now. I've been very satisfied, and have even been content with the mediocre laptop speakers it contains. I wasn't expecting much in that realm anyways.
The problem I have is that periodically the speakers will make an annoying clicking noise. It's pretty sucky. Even worse, after a time all sound will screw up and a deathly fuzzy roaring sound is all that is heard.
i recently bought the notebook, after a month it was fine nothing went wrong, then in the pass couple weeks i've notice that a "crackling" sound comes on when i play music, this also happens when my headphones are plugged in. Strangely enough the crackling sound only
happens when my charger is unplug, when i put the charger in, the crackling sound stops. Is there a way to fix this?
I have an Aspire 4520 laptop with Visa SP1 which will only start after the second attempt. The first try, it will get to where the little green lines run across then they stop halfway. I have to power off and start it again. It usually (but not always) takes me to a screen asking me to either Repair or Start windows normally. If I choose to repair, it does it's thing then says that the repair was unsuccessful so I've been choosing to 'Start windows normally' and its starts up ok.
View 5 Replies View RelatedA few weeks ago I spilled green tea (no milk or sugar) on the desk around my Acer Aspire 5920 laptop. The tea went into the back left quarter of the machine, mainly through the ventilation holes and the ports on the left side. I removed the battery, drained the liquid, and let the machine dry out thoroughly. Since then the machine has worked fine. However, it occasionally makes strange noises, especially on start up. It's a fizzing/popping noise, in short bursts, like static. It sounds as if it's coming from the loudspeaker.
does anyone know the machine well enough to diagnose the fault? Only the components in the back left quarter of the machine got wet. Could there still be water in there? Is the noise a sign of a serious problem? What can I do to fix it? As I said, the spill happened several weeks ago, and, apart from the noise, the machine works fine.
The problem is, that my Aspire's screen keeps flickering and making weird waves and stuff. It basically makes text unreadable, and I almost can't see anything. To turn it somewhat normal, I turn down the light, but it's not working much. The text sometimes turns into different colors, Blue, green and red.

If I plug into an external display it works fine. In graphics properties, the display isnt even listed (only the external display shows up).
I have got a new tablet and before I could download any spyware etc a virus has got me ! Its called Ransomware Ukash and i`m completely locked out. it`s windows 8.....

I tried both reset and refresh options both not working. I dont have a recovery disc. I created one in another laptop(Toshiba)running Windows 8. Now I want to boot from the recovery media but it is not doing it. View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a new E1-572G laptop. Long story short, I installed Win 7 on it, and after that, Ubuntu 14.10. I had issues with bootloader, but after fiddling around with legacy/UEFI booting, secure boot, and things like that, I almost successfully configured the laptop. When I selected the ubuntu uefi bootmgr in the bios, in secure boot mode, I rebooted the laptop for what I thought the last time, but then it did not go past the Acer logo. Only combination that works is ctrl+alt+delete. If I remove the hdd, then the acer logo flashes for half a second, and a black screen appears, with a static console cursor at the left upper corner.
I searched a lot in the topic, wanted to reset the bios, but there is no jumper for this, nor can I remove the bios battery. I wanted to reflash the bios, but I could not find proper instructions on this.

For about a week it's been taking an increasing number of minutes before the the LED turns blue; today it was over ten. What is the likely problem? If accumulated dust how can I remove it? I picked up a dell D620 notebook second hand. I did a fresh install of the OS, installed and updated all drivers. I noticed there was some pixels that were going crazy.
There would be a line across the start bar, and a block of miscolored pixels on the bootup screen. If I booted into safe mode, they would not be there. Also, when the notebook is hooked to an external display, they will show on the laptop, but not on the external LCD
I have an Inspiron 14R N4110 (bought 6 months ago) and recently the touchpad has been going crazy everytime I am using the mouse. It flicks back and forth between abling and disabling the touchpad, so much that I am unable to use the mouse because it continually engages and disengages. Some times it can happen 30 times in 1 minute. I went into the mouse properties and disabled the touchpad altogether but it still keeps doing it. I have run the diagnostic from the Dell site and downloaded all the required drivers, but nothing is working.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi have a Acer 7720G laptop, if those who dont know the laptop, its not exactly that low powered so i dont think it should be suffering because its weak, its a dual core 2 duo cpu, i have 4gb ram in it and a 256mb video card.
when i am playing music generaly i will be browsing websites and as i am browsing, i find a lot when i am scrolling the music really starts stuttering a lot and then eventualy goes ok, am not sure why when i am viewing websites, and it seems like it can be any site.
i am using the newest realtek hd drivers at this time.
Brand new laptop idles at 55° C, but at least the fans are quiet. Casual web browsing, listening to music, and/or downloading files and cpu temp rises to mid 70° C and the fan starts humming pretty noticeably. If I try to do any gaming, PC hits 85°+ C, fans go crazy, and the laptop starts beeping. I really like this laptop, but I need it to be able to handle my day to day activities.
View 9 Replies View RelatedFor a few months now when I switch my Acer Aspire 5535 on for about 5 mins it sounds like the fan is rubbing against the bottom cover. It does go away when it warms up but its not very good when I have to use it on the train or in the library!
Is there anything i can do? Can i take the cover off and have a look without damaging anything? The laptop runs fine otherwise.
i cant really describe it, but the "tuba" on my 6920G makes some really nasty noises when i turn the volume up...
im not sure if this is normal or not, if the tubas just not able to handle the loud bass or something... could someone try it out and see if theirs makes weird noises as well?

my 5290g broke yesterday morning. after switching on, checking my emails and viewing some forums I decided to give old Silent Hunter 4 a go and then IT happened. Screen went pitch black, I could hear game's background music for few seconds and then all froze. After reset instead of ACER start screen I got white screen with some vertical stripes. I can hear HDD working, after a while I can see colours of my logging screen but everything is still a mess: after putting my password in screen is divided to 2 parts - one with my wallpaper colours and one black with single dots of different colours.
First suspicion was of course graphic card, but after opening the laptop I couldn't smell anything. So maybe it's LCD screen itself. I'm trying to borrow LCD monitor and check if the video-out socket is working to eliminate the graphic card.
My question is:
1. Did anybody had same experience with 5290g?
2. Can you recommend any decent online shop selling MMX graphic cards or LCD screens - UK only pls.
3. Any tips to improve cooling in this type of Acer?
