I have an Aspire 4520 laptop with Visa SP1 which will only start after the second attempt. The first try, it will get to where the little green lines run across then they stop halfway. I have to power off and start it again. It usually (but not always) takes me to a screen asking me to either Repair or Start windows normally. If I choose to repair, it does it's thing then says that the repair was unsuccessful so I've been choosing to 'Start windows normally' and its starts up ok.
Im using Acer Aspire 4520. Now my laptop have dead because im update the BIOS firmware on windows vista platform. On 8% progress its 'hang' now i'm can using my laptop.
the many solution i have try on this forum. not done.
FYI on my procedure
1- Run the Phoenix Crisis Disk -> Format the floppy procedure. 2- Open the Acer BIOS from website -> I get the Z03_3626.wph file then rename to bios.wph 3- Copy the bios.wph to Floppy drive 4- Insert the USB floppy to my laptop then remove the battery, hold the FN + ESC button, plug in power then press power button 5- I hear the floppy drive reading on 3minutes then after 3minutes the floopy drive stop and i release the holding FN + ESC button 6- waiting about 20 minutes nothing happen.
so what i want to do...? i think this is right procedure because it reading the floopy drive long about 3minutes. If i try burn the CD procedure nothing happen (can read), then try rename to .fd it not read.
Well, when my notebook finally start, on desktop it show an error message:

I dont know why my laptop was lost 800MB of RAM, after I upgraded 4GB (2x2GB). Both, Windows XP and BIOS, have recognized 3262KB of RAM. After that I attempted to check with each of RAM, Windows XP and BIOS recognised 2GB. The problem is both RAM equipped at the same time.
I tried to update AMD processor but I found that the software,ver 1.3.2, is older than the current BIOS, 1.36. So it didnot affect.
When I start-up or resume from sleep my AAO often makes an extremely loud noise like the fan is trying to run but is having trouble. It almost sounds like it is revving up. It will do it two or three times then stop. It usually doesn't do it during normal use--only when I'm trying to start-up or resume.
I have got a new tablet and before I could download any spyware etc a virus has got me ! Its called Ransomware Ukash and i`m completely locked out. it`s windows 8.....
My Acer Aspire V3 laptop (with Windows 8) stopped working and I tried to reset it but it fails after around 50% operation. I tried both reset and refresh options both not working. I dont have a recovery disc. I created one in another laptop(Toshiba)running Windows 8. Now I want to boot from the recovery media but it is not doing it. I tried to press F2 key on the start to get the bios screen but it is not showing and showing the Automatic repair screen with Advanced options.
I have a new E1-572G laptop. Long story short, I installed Win 7 on it, and after that, Ubuntu 14.10. I had issues with bootloader, but after fiddling around with legacy/UEFI booting, secure boot, and things like that, I almost successfully configured the laptop. When I selected the ubuntu uefi bootmgr in the bios, in secure boot mode, I rebooted the laptop for what I thought the last time, but then it did not go past the Acer logo. Only combination that works is ctrl+alt+delete. If I remove the hdd, then the acer logo flashes for half a second, and a black screen appears, with a static console cursor at the left upper corner. Â I searched a lot in the topic, wanted to reset the bios, but there is no jumper for this, nor can I remove the bios battery. I wanted to reflash the bios, but I could not find proper instructions on this.
when i turn on my Acer Aspire 3000 i put in my password then it makes me choose a windows xp as i have a dual boot but even if i choose either one it give me the message: "windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt <Windows root>system32hall.dll
I have an Acer 5741g. I booted it up a few days ago and discovered the screen was not displaying properly. I could see part of what should be displayed but the rest looked as if someone had wiped a wet rag over a painting.
Until recently my Aspire M3802 desktop started immediately when the start button was pressed. For about a week it's been taking an increasing number of minutes before the the LED turns blue; today it was over ten. What is the likely problem? If accumulated dust how can I remove it? I have a problem with the audio. I reinstal the O.S. because my laptop was working slow, and because the sound did not work properly. Everything affter instalation works fine, just the audio doen't work properly, it sounds...hesitating
I thought the problem was the cpu temperatures... 60º-65º idle, and just open a few windows it reachs at 75º-80º, and stay in this temps.
Notebook Hardware Control, lets make undervolting. So I make some test... and just when the cpu loads at 100% the audio works properly, clean and perfect. If cpu loads under 80% the audio sounds... but defective, not clean...
Built in mic on my Aspire 5738ZG don't work properly when I use Skype. I'm on windows xp, 32 bit. I installed Audio Realtek drivers from Acer officialy web site but sound of mic is still very low. Other people said that they hear me very bad when we talk on Skype for example. What I can do?
I have found that mouse etc only works from usb3 slot not from other 2 slots, have tried reinstalling drivers for chipset and usb3 ... I can run a fan stand from other 2 but that is all.
I've been working on this issue on my own for about a week now. I'm not entirely sure how to start explaining, so I'll just do a rundown of the noticable issues. Â Hovering over the speaker icon gives me the text, "No speakers or headphones are plugged in." I use the internal speakers, and I always have my headphones plugged in. Audio playback troubleshooting doesnt give me anything (though at one point during my progress, it said that my audio device was disabled.)Â Â Device management has been confusing at best. I can't seem to get the Realtek W8.1 drivers to properly download, even after finding the Acer-support driver.
My acer aspire 6930 would crash and then have problems starting up sometimes the blue screen would show up and sometimes i would see lines on my screen and it freezes and also sometimes it just fades away. When i try to restart it the computer wont boot but all the lights are on.
I have an acer 5741 g laptop ..when i try to turn it on with or without battery , it makes a single tick noise in hard disk section and turns off...i tried using faulty laptop's hdd in another laptop but it is working fine..even in some instances after turning off, it automatically tries to turn on but goes through same tick noise and turns off.Â

I recently bought Acer aspire E15 model E5-572G-5577 which came with i5-4210m (2.6 to 3.2Ghz),8GB RAM,Nvidia GeForce 840M 2GB dedicated VRAM,1TB HDD and freeDOS. Since i recieved Win8.1 x64 for my Birthday i bought this laptop without windows and installed 8.1, as Acer claims that fully supports this OS.
Everything was ok in installation and i even installed HD4600 driver but when installed Nvidia driver although it looked ok and it was shown in device manager the graphic card wasn't show in my display (only HDGraphics) and in nvidia control panel i had only the 3D settings option but still it seems that 840M hasn't kicked in.
I assume its the driver so after many attempt with different drivers i still have the same issue. The laptop is brand new and in OEM 8.1 it seems to work but not for all of us that have a bought copy of Windows. I have wasted so much money on a Acer with 840M GPU that wont work.
I have a Probook 4520, and the operating system is Windows 7, I am having a problem getting connected to the internet, all other laptops are working in the household. I have connected it directly to the router with the ethernet cord but still no luck. Could it be my Network Card? The lap top was pretty warm on that side also prior to it stop working.Â
all of a sudden my acer 6920g stopped working.i put it on and a few flashes of light come on the screen and the computer stays idle.the only thing that did happen was that the laptop bag fell...but the laptop bag is quite cushioned so im assuming nothing major happened, also can some1 tell me the itw center in india. i dont hav my booklet with me
my 5290g broke yesterday morning. after switching on, checking my emails and viewing some forums I decided to give old Silent Hunter 4 a go and then IT happened. Screen went pitch black, I could hear game's background music for few seconds and then all froze. After reset instead of ACER start screen I got white screen with some vertical stripes. I can hear HDD working, after a while I can see colours of my logging screen but everything is still a mess: after putting my password in screen is divided to 2 parts - one with my wallpaper colours and one black with single dots of different colours.
First suspicion was of course graphic card, but after opening the laptop I couldn't smell anything. So maybe it's LCD screen itself. I'm trying to borrow LCD monitor and check if the video-out socket is working to eliminate the graphic card.
My question is:
1. Did anybody had same experience with 5290g?
2. Can you recommend any decent online shop selling MMX graphic cards or LCD screens - UK only pls.
3. Any tips to improve cooling in this type of Acer?
i have an acer 9303WSMi. i was watching a video on youtube, but the sound wasnt working properly. so i restarted my computer, and when it began to turn back on, the screen remained blank, and it made 1 long beep sound, followed by 2 short ones. i have looked this up and it apparently means that it has a problem with my graphics card. now i have 2 quesions. firstly, can my lapotop be fixed by me? secondly if not can it be fixed if i send it off to someone, and iof so roughly how long will it take for it to be fixed and returned to me?
I have an Acer Extena 5630z that came with 4 GB memory (2 times 2 GB modules) from the factory. However, the BIOS reports only 3 GB in any OS I try be it 64 or 32 bit. Why is this? The BIOS is version 1.19 and there are newer ones. Should I consider an update? Is this a memory remappin issue  This processor and chipset should support 36 bit address space in a 32 bit OS even.
IT IS BROKEN! Disc drive is non operational, and on top of that, the 'black' of the screen is about the color of my light grey/silver pants.
Best Buy is sending me a new one next day (so it will be here wednesday). This is Sony's last chance, and they will be getting a written complaint about quality control.
