Acer :: SetFSB Added Support For ICS954310 And Couple More
Oct 18, 2008
SetFSB now supports the PLL ICS954310BGLF.
Now CPUCool also supported this PLL, but the software was a bit buggy and refused to work in Vista x64.
But SetFSB works like a charm.
So, basically, the Acer Aspire 3680; Aspire 5570/Z; Aspire 5580; Travelmate 2480, and a couple of more notebooks can be overclocked easily. Also, notebooks that have this PLL, can be OCed.
Weird, I was able to go upto 200MHz with a Celeron M 420 and DDR2-800 RAM, but I can't go above 170MHz for some reason now, with the T5200 and generic Hynix DDR2-667.
Anyway, I still got a 25% OC. Will get Corsair/Crucial DDR2-800, and try and achieve a 50% OC. Temps are under control atm.
I have an aspire 5251-1513 with win7 home premium 64bit OS. It came with 2 gig and I'm trying to add a 4 gig memory stick. Win 7 recognizes it now has 5 gig, but won't use the 4 gig. I've tried find a place in bios to make a memory change but can't locate any place to do that. I've tried use the new 4GB stick by its sleep but the laptop won't boot up then. How to get win7 to use this memory?
when I hit the power button, the fans kick on and a couple lights turn on, but nothing happens- the screen remains blank. I don't even see the acer splash screen like usual. Also, I'm pretty sure that the hard drive isn't spinning as well.
I know the lcd isn't dead as I tried hooking it up to an external monitor, but that didn't work.
and Vista is telling me its only 10 gb! Its a NIB western digital 320 gb 5400 rpm ATA (WDC WD3200BEVS-VATO). When I go to BIOS it shows its a WD 320 but of course it wont let you monkey with anything.
Thru Vista's disc management thingie and thru explorer it only shows that its a 10 gb drive. I've already formatted it twice thru vista but to no avail.
My Studio originally had a Toshiba, 5400 rpm 250 gb drive in it.
I bought a Western Digital 7200 rpm 360 gb drive to add to my laptop. I also got the carrier assembly from Dell and I installed the Western Digital into the Studio 17 in drive bay 1 , and put the Toshiba into Drive bay 2.
I had made an image of my C drive with Vista on it, and after installing the new hard drive I put the image onto the Western Digital drive, and all seemed to be well, I booted up and get into Vista, but now I see the C:
local hard drive shows exactly what I had before, and Vista is showing my new drive as Drive F: but it also has all my files on it exactly as the original C image that I made .....
Well, i took my D520 apart to give it a clean... And then it hit me to add a dust filter on the fan so it does not get dusty.
I had a OEM speaker out of my Taurus, and that has this very thin cloth like material covering the speaker for what ever reason
might just look nicer then seeing the speaker) I cut a little square out, and then placed it under the fan. The fan holds the filter nicely, and it does not take away from the cooling
I've had my m1530 for ~ 6 months now. I love the build quality of this laptop and the general versatility. Plenty of power, good battery life, and beautiful screen. I have two issues that have been my biggest complaints…
1)Touchpad jumping – I’ve had this since day #1. It happens randomly and at inconvenient times.
I read about a lot of other people having similar problems when I got my laptop and tried other drivers with no real difference.
2)Keyboard – Almost as random as the touchpad problem is an issue with the keyboard. Occasionally the keyboard will require VERY HARD pressure for the laptop to recognize my keystrokes. A reboot will typically take care of this but it is very annoying when it occurs .....
I got my m1330 used with 1 light of battery health lit. I've been using it fairly for a month. One time I noticed I got only about 1 hour on battery power.
I don't know... i'm having serious problems with this notebook. It was very slow because got really hot until I upgraded it to A15 where it somehow works... What should be done for me to request a replacement?....
I cant figure this out, I have a M1710 with the 7950GTX, tried both the vanilla 169.09 and the M4 version.
My gun is constantly flickering, to the point I cant take it. Rapidly flashing between a couple different colors. It also happens to my teammates (singler player only, havent tried MP yet).
Iv'e Tried every Graphic options 1 by 1 and I cant get it to go away...
I have an XPS L701x that will automatically go into sleep mode after only a couple of minutes of using the system, and won't "wake up" unless I remove the battery and reboot it. I've checked my power settings and they show "Never" on going into sleep mode.
I recently went on a plane trip back home and I am having major issues with wifi connection in my family's house.
They have AT&T router/modem (combo?) and no one else in the house has any issues connecting with it.
What happens is I can connect and browse for a couple minutes or so, but sporadically, the internet will just stop working (not the wifi, it still shows my connection exists). I just won't be able to browse or make use of the internet at all!
I wonder if I might have banged it up or something on the plane ride? Since other laptops in the household are not having wifi issues, I am lead to believe it is just me.
I have a problem with my Compaq Presario CQ61-325ED. It won't boot. What I see is a black/blank screen, with the numlock and capslock lights blinking twice every couple of seconds.  According to the blink codes, it seems the BIOS has been corrupted [URL] ....  Sadly, no adequate solution is given on that page.Win + B  or Fn + B at startup does nothing, pressing all the arrow keys gives me a continuous blinking pattern (edit: I can't seem to replicate this anymore...). I have also tried creating a bootable USB-stick with a BIOS update, but I don't think I have done it correctly, for it never gets activated (the light on the USB never turns on).
Also, removing/resetting the RAMs or just one of the RAMs does not work. Neither does removing/resetting the CMOS battery. How to successfully create a bootable USB-stick with BIOS update for CQ61-325ED?
I would just like to share my recent experience with Acer support and was wondering if others have the same experience.
When I bought my Acer 8930 with Vista installed I was very happy. Started to install and change everything to my liking. I played the HD disk that came with it and all was ok. 2 Days later the same disk would not play anymore. Ok no problem I had other things to do.
I was also transferring files between the Acer (Intel wifi card build in) and was getting speeds of 2.1MB/s. My IMac on the same network was showing 4-6MB/s. So, I installed a netrgear USB 300 adapter on the Acer (using an external drive, because the Acer drive was still not working) and I got indeed the speeds of 4-6MB/s.
So I contacted Acer support. Their reply: " please contact the manufacturer of the network card...." Oh wow, can you imagine if the light of your car does not work. Do you bring your car to the dealer or to Philips?
A few days later I installed Windows 7 64bit after installing all I contacted Acer again. This time about the drive. Their reply:" Please reinstall Vista, in order to do a better analysis, because the laptop was sold with Vista and not Windows 7."
Both replies are absolute Bull**** (excuse my French). I gave them my opinion and will wait until Monday to get a reply. If it is still a reply in the same trend as previous I will ship the laptop back with the friendly request to repair it.
1: i have vista 32bit os with 4gbram, does it support 4gbram fully if not how much does it support up to? or should i install vista 64bit os to get the full potential of 4gb ram?
2: Is there any window xp drivers for Acer 8930G ive only found few drives on [url]. i still need Geforce Drives etc.
Acer Extensa notebooks usually come with SATA drives. However, my impression is that models with Intel Core 2 Duo CPU's have built-in SATA/AHCI support in Vista, while AMD Athlon 64 X2 models do not:
- Device Manager shows the drive and controller as IDE/ATA, not SATA, even when the drive is SATA;
- there is no option in BIOS (even latest version) for switching from ATA compatibility to SATA/AHCI
It looks like AMD does not support SATA/AHCI, while AMD does not.
Does my laptop, E1-570-3321 not support a headset splitter? Because I'm unable to use a splitter because it's a combined jack, it plays sound, but doesn't detect audio.
The maximum resolution available on my new Aspire V5-573PG-7400 is 1366x768. It was advertised to support full HD resolution of 1920x1080. How can I fix this?
I was playing around with some settings of the software that came with my EM770W 3G module of my 1810TZ.
Now I am able to submit USSD codes and to abuse my 1810TZ as a phone

This could be simply accomplished by editing some configuration files. So notepad.exe is the "hacking tool" of choice
Make sure, you back up these files before editing them. Also, some files are write protected, so you need to change this before the modification. It is recommended to re-apply the write protected flag when you're done.
Enable USSD support
Step 1: Navigate to C:Program Files (x86)Acer 3G Connection Managerconfig Edit file: PluginsConfig.xml In section
PHP Code:
<common> <plugin> (lots of stuff) </plugin></common>
