Dell :: When Do Systems Get Added To The Outlet?
May 2, 2009I'd like to get a SXPS 16 from the outlet and was wondering if there is a certain timeline they use for adding systems?

View 5 Repliesand Vista is telling me its only 10 gb! Its a NIB western digital 320 gb 5400 rpm ATA (WDC WD3200BEVS-VATO). When I go to BIOS it shows its a WD 320 but of course it wont let you monkey with anything.
Thru Vista's disc management thingie and thru explorer it only shows that its a 10 gb drive. I've already formatted it twice thru vista but to no avail.
I got on eBay to my new E4200 and noticed I am missing some piece in there where the Bluetooth would plug in. Anyone else run across this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Studio originally had a Toshiba, 5400 rpm 250 gb drive in it.
I bought a Western Digital 7200 rpm 360 gb drive to add to my laptop.
I also got the carrier assembly from Dell and I installed the Western Digital into the Studio 17 in drive bay 1 , and put the Toshiba into Drive bay 2.
I had made an image of my C drive with Vista on it, and after installing the new hard drive I put the image onto the Western Digital drive, and all seemed to be well, I booted up and get into Vista, but now I see the C:
local hard drive shows exactly what I had before, and Vista is showing my new drive as Drive F: but it also has all my files on it exactly as the original C image that I made .....
Well, i took my D520 apart to give it a clean... And then it hit me to add a dust filter on the fan so it does not get dusty.
I had a OEM speaker out of my Taurus, and that has this very thin cloth like material covering the speaker for what ever reason
might just look nicer then seeing the speaker) I cut a little square out, and then placed it under the fan. The fan holds the filter nicely, and it does not take away from the cooling
A nice xmas gift in the form of a driver from Dell

Finally we have stereo mix!
A problem cropping up more and more of late is a BSOD when the machine is coming out of sleep mode, or when the hood is lifted after sleep mode.
The cause of this has been determined to be a Microsoft update patch.
See this thread on the Dell Forums about people having the problem and it's resolution:

SetFSB now supports the PLL ICS954310BGLF.
Now CPUCool also supported this PLL, but the software was a bit buggy and refused to work in Vista x64.
But SetFSB works like a charm.
So, basically, the Acer Aspire 3680; Aspire 5570/Z; Aspire 5580; Travelmate 2480, and a couple of more notebooks can be overclocked easily. Also, notebooks that have this PLL, can be OCed.
Weird, I was able to go upto 200MHz with a Celeron M 420 and DDR2-800 RAM, but I can't go above 170MHz for some reason now, with the T5200 and generic Hynix DDR2-667.
Anyway, I still got a 25% OC. Will get Corsair/Crucial DDR2-800, and try and achieve a 50% OC. Temps are under control atm.

My brother recently got the xps 1730m with vista home premium 32. Can he use the same CD key in the 32bit to install vista 64bit?
Dell wants 40 bucks for the Vista 64 DVD and I don't want to pay them.
I'm looking at purchasing another Dell laptop, but more basic than my current Latitude E6500. I had a Inspiron 15 perfectly configured, except for the operating system.
Apparently, Windows 7 Home Premium is the only available choice for an operating system (with or without a Belkin easy transfer cable). I was first shopping through SMB.
When I called them, they said I'd need to purchase through Home & Home Office to get Ultimate. However, after checking there, I see it's not listed as an option through them, either.
I went back an checked on Latitudes, thinking that it should be offered there, as Latitudes are more of a business-class model. At least through SMB, apparently Ultimate isn't offered on the E5400 or the E5500 - only the E6400 and E6500?
I have a xps m1710 the graphics card has failed and has been replaced last week. This failed after 2 days!
Dell have repalced fans x2 CPU Heatsink and nv7950gtx already.
they now need to change graphics card again, LCD and Base plastics.
have requested replacment system like others and this has been refused i have appealed this all the way to CEO office and they state the new policy is no replacement systems, no refunds and i have to wait.
It's about time, those who have been waiting for Windows 7 to ship pre-installed, well the wait is over.

Can I use the reinstall CD that came with Precision M6400 to install on other systems ? Non- M6400, and perhaps non-dell ?
Can I use the same CD to install on multiple systems ?
I bough Dell Vostro 1510 licensed. Recently i have formatted and Dell logo in the Systems Properties disappear.
Someone know how to show Dell logo in the Systems Properties?? please help..
Note: to go to systems properties by right click on My Computer > Properties
I have an aspire 5251-1513 with win7 home premium 64bit OS. It came with 2 gig and I'm trying to add a 4 gig memory stick. Win 7 recognizes it now has 5 gig, but won't use the 4 gig. I've tried find a place in bios to make a memory change but can't locate any place to do that. I've tried use the new 4GB stick by its sleep but the laptop won't boot up then. How to get win7 to use this memory?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recieved my Dell Studio XPS 16 about a month ago, i have to say i really love it, even 64-bit Vista, but it still lacked that "sense of home" that XP used to bring me, and some of my programs i used did not work in 64-bit Vista,
therefore i decided to try to duel boot 32-bit XP, little did i know what challenges i had to overcome...
The main problem with doing this, is the drivers!!! I had to track them down and mod one... but here, i am simply going to list them for you and give you a nice and easy to follow guide (along with a link or 2 to other guides that you may need)
REQUIREMENTS
- Dell Studio XPS 16, although other systems with some of the hardware may work if you find the drivers i do not list for your system
- XP Install CD
- Blank CD (unless you know how to boot off a usb drive or something similar)
- nLite http://www.nliteos.com/download.html
Okay so your first decision is simple, do you want to keep vista, or dump it completely? If you dump it completely this makes your life i bit more simple, but in my case i decided to keep it.
STEP 1
- Partitioning
Partitioning is simply splitting your hardrive in to 2 or more peices, basically creating "virtual hardrives". The simplest way to do this is to use vista's disk management, now since this would take awhile, i'm just going to give a link to a page that shows 3 different ways to partition, once you're done come back here because if you follow that whole tutorial, you'll find it wont work
http://apcmag.com/how_to_dual_boot_v...ide.htm?page=2
STEP 2
- Integrating Drivers
Your hardrive is a SATA drive which back in the XP days, weren't really around, therefore there were no built in drivers in your disk. Your wireless card was always not around back then, so we need to integrate that aswell so you can follow the rest of the tutorial once you have XP installed (or at least so you can download the other drivers) .....
I would like to have the full Dell-branded Windows OS DVD but I am not sure if Dell has discontinued this. Do they still ship these out? If not, do they charge for it or can I just get it for free?
View 9 Replies View RelatedDell's reverted back to making users burn DVD's that contain an image of the Recovery Partition, at least on new Windows 7 consumer systems (Inspiron, Studio, Studio XPS) This is a step backwards, but oh well.
I'll be updating the system recovery guide to reflect these changes over the next day or so.
I was looking at buying the Logitech z5500 speakers which are 5.1 surround sound and I was planning to use them with my soon to arrive 15 inch macbook pro. My only concern is whether the macbook pro actually supports 5.1 or do i need to buy some kind of an external sound card? in which case I will look for different speakers.
View 10 Replies View RelatedMy friend and I both own Y510p laptops, but for some reason his battery will last an entire game of use and (very) light gaming, e.g. Binding of Isaac. However, mine only lasts about three hours on the Power Saver setting. I've even removed my SLI GPU to test it and un-overclocked my CPU/GPU.

View 1 Replies View Relatedwww.dell.com/outlet has 1st generation Studio XPS 16's on the outlet as I write this.
There are now 24 SXPS16's on the Outlet. Max price is $2469, minimum is $859
Highest price is $1,499, lowest is $879.
All come with the HD 3670 graphics. Some with Blu Ray + RGB 1080p screen
The 15% off outlet coupons are gone now, right? I just found a good SXPS 1640 8gb ram system..
View 10 Replies View RelatedPardon me if this is in the wrong section. But I was going to buy a refurbished Dell Latitude, but when I try clicking on check inventory button, it says sorry page not found.
Is anyone else having this problem? I know the home section works, only the business section doesn't
Are the products sold through the Dell Outlet as good as ordering brand new? I am interested in a Studio 15 laptop, but a new one is beyond my budget.
A previously ordered new can be bought in the outlet for as little as about $650 or so. What am I losing by buying from the outlet rather than new?
I'm curious to hear what experiences you all have had with laptops from Dell Outlet (looking at Latitude D630). Was it a scratch-and-dent, refurbished, previously ordered new, etc.?
I would upgrade to 3-year Pro Support and Warranty and buy additional accessories (docking station, router, etc.).
Is it worth the risk? Will they take it back no questions asked or do I have to pay 15% restocking fee? (Dell was ambiguous about this).
i saw this searching the outlet
http://outlet.us.dell.com/ARBOnlineS...X2F&POPUP=true
was under 4400 after rebate i think its a great deal fully loaded
i'm considering buying an e6400 from the outlet and i've been trying for days to find a configuration that i'm happy with. i've noticed that the hardest to get "right" are the screen and battery which is where this question comes in.
when i get an outlet "scratch/dent" or "cert refurb" are the batteries the original ones or are they new? i ask because if they're the old ones, there isn't too much of a point in getting a 9 cell over 6 cell because the batteries have probably lost a bit of capacity already.
I just purchased this system for $605 (ex tax) in the outlet for my aunt, who is barely computer literate. She'll use it for email and skype. She needs Ultimate for foreign language support.

I was planning on using a coupon at the dell outlet to get a better deal, but today while looking for the perfect system for me I saw this:
ABOVE PRICES INCLUDE ANY APPLICABLE DISCOUNTS. All systems refurbished. Supplies limited to stock on hand. Offers subject to change, not combinable with all other offers. Taxes, shipping, handling and other fees apply. Purchase limit of 5 systems/customer/week. For Dell Outlet U.S. purchases only. Dell reserves right to cancel orders arising from pricing or other errors.
Does this mean I can't use a coupon code?
