I have a xps m1710 the graphics card has failed and has been replaced last week. This failed after 2 days!
Dell have repalced fans x2 CPU Heatsink and nv7950gtx already.
they now need to change graphics card again, LCD and Base plastics.
have requested replacment system like others and this has been refused i have appealed this all the way to CEO office and they state the new policy is no replacement systems, no refunds and i have to wait.
so i had a e1705 that went bad so i got a new xps 1730 as replacement. so it has been acting up where it will shutoff while working for no reason and from what i have read most xps problems become nightmares so if for wot eva reason dell can not fix my 1730 what will dell replace it with?
So i called Dell today to try and get a replacement for my broken XPS and was told that although my laptop would probably have qualified for a replacement, it has been too long since the last repair for it to qualify.
The rep said that in order for a replacement to be issued the laptop must break within only 1 month of the repair. So after about 1.5 hours on the phone i am getting a guy to come fix it within the next couple of days.
I still want a replacement as this laptop no longer fits with my needs and i know it will break down eventually again anyways whether it be in a month or in a year.
Under what conditions will Dell Canada replace a brand new Studio XPS 1640 laptop? I'm currently having my motherboard replaced and they put in the wrong 1, so I'm getting it replaced AGAIN.
I'm looking at purchasing another Dell laptop, but more basic than my current Latitude E6500. I had a Inspiron 15 perfectly configured, except for the operating system.
Apparently, Windows 7 Home Premium is the only available choice for an operating system (with or without a Belkin easy transfer cable). I was first shopping through SMB.
When I called them, they said I'd need to purchase through Home & Home Office to get Ultimate. However, after checking there, I see it's not listed as an option through them, either.
I went back an checked on Latitudes, thinking that it should be offered there, as Latitudes are more of a business-class model. At least through SMB, apparently Ultimate isn't offered on the E5400 or the E5500 - only the E6400 and E6500?
Can I use the reinstall CD that came with Precision M6400 to install on other systems ? Non- M6400, and perhaps non-dell ? Can I use the same CD to install on multiple systems ?
I recieved my Dell Studio XPS 16 about a month ago, i have to say i really love it, even 64-bit Vista, but it still lacked that "sense of home" that XP used to bring me, and some of my programs i used did not work in 64-bit Vista,
therefore i decided to try to duel boot 32-bit XP, little did i know what challenges i had to overcome...
The main problem with doing this, is the drivers!!! I had to track them down and mod one... but here, i am simply going to list them for you and give you a nice and easy to follow guide (along with a link or 2 to other guides that you may need)
REQUIREMENTS - Dell Studio XPS 16, although other systems with some of the hardware may work if you find the drivers i do not list for your system - XP Install CD - Blank CD (unless you know how to boot off a usb drive or something similar) - nLite http://www.nliteos.com/download.html
Okay so your first decision is simple, do you want to keep vista, or dump it completely? If you dump it completely this makes your life i bit more simple, but in my case i decided to keep it.
STEP 1 - Partitioning Partitioning is simply splitting your hardrive in to 2 or more peices, basically creating "virtual hardrives". The simplest way to do this is to use vista's disk management, now since this would take awhile, i'm just going to give a link to a page that shows 3 different ways to partition, once you're done come back here because if you follow that whole tutorial, you'll find it wont work
http://apcmag.com/how_to_dual_boot_v...ide.htm?page=2 STEP 2 - Integrating Drivers Your hardrive is a SATA drive which back in the XP days, weren't really around, therefore there were no built in drivers in your disk. Your wireless card was always not around back then, so we need to integrate that aswell so you can follow the rest of the tutorial once you have XP installed (or at least so you can download the other drivers) .....
I would like to have the full Dell-branded Windows OS DVD but I am not sure if Dell has discontinued this. Do they still ship these out? If not, do they charge for it or can I just get it for free?
Dell's reverted back to making users burn DVD's that contain an image of the Recovery Partition, at least on new Windows 7 consumer systems (Inspiron, Studio, Studio XPS) This is a step backwards, but oh well.
I'll be updating the system recovery guide to reflect these changes over the next day or so.
It seems as if they only refund products that are within the 21 days after the order. But my laptop, specifically the studio 1558, had to be delayed, and I received it after the 21 days. Now I've had this laptop for 5 days and there was at least one random shutdown a day, which seems to be a very common problem to many people with this particular laptop.
Is there a way to refund this laptop?
Or are there exceptions?
They did in fact asked me whether I still wanted to resume the order the laptop, as they were waiting for a piece of hardware about 2-3 weeks after i placed the order; however, this seems like a coincidence or an extremely poor business tactic, as they probably have known about this flaw.
I just got the M1730 last week, but I found a few detects such as lighting problems on my screen when it is pitch black.
The bottom and top parts have light leaking ( I'm guessing thats what you call it ). Also when I move my laptop, i see two circles appearing on my screen (Same effect as if you touched the screen)..
They disappear after like 5 seconds, but it gets annoying seeing them whenever you move your laptop.
I was looking at buying the Logitech z5500 speakers which are 5.1 surround sound and I was planning to use them with my soon to arrive 15 inch macbook pro. My only concern is whether the macbook pro actually supports 5.1 or do i need to buy some kind of an external sound card? in which case I will look for different speakers.
I keep reading in this thread about Dell's no questions asked 21 day return policy. Dell.com is stating returns will have a 15% restocking fee in addition to shipping charges.
I'm assuming this does not apply if there is a problem with the system. However, if it's under warranty, won't they just send a tech out instead of accepting the return?
Has anyone completed a return with the last month or so? If so, can you let us know how it went?
I know here is for laptop, but I like to ask some question? I have purchased a Dell Monitor on UK Dell website, and I was going to cancel the order but it was too late to cancel because It has been shipped,
so I have went to Dell return policy online and it said after recieve the product, must contact customer service in 7 days for arrange return collection and refund will be given after the Item is been receive by Dell
1. The bought system is on the name of a Dell employee. So is it possible 4 me 2 return it?
2. Does Dell give 100% money back in this case?
The reason why I want 2 return it is that the employee thru which the system was ordered messed up the upgrades and also cheated me. When I received the system, there were three missing upgrades out of the eight upgrades ordered:
1. I had ordered a Topo Black Colour. I got Jet Black.
2. I had ordered 7200 rpm drive. I got the 5400 one.
3. I had ordered 5300 Wifi Card. I got the 5100 one .....
I've order a Alienware MX17 r2 and return it within the 30 days return policy. First it's very heavy my wife can hardly lift it up never mind carry it around then I don’t really play games that much It had only one video card with the 920 processor the only think I liked it was the screen 17’ LED RGB So after reading some info regarding the Studio XPS 16-47 I returned the Mx17 and order the 1647 with RGB LED (not received as yet) the MX17 r2 cost me $3500.00 mean time I got refunded only $ 3150.00
Dell took 10% from me $ 350.00 I’m pretty P_OFF that it is a lot of money I’m not a rich man I’ve returned another laptop before within the 30 days and Dell give me a full refund. When I called customer care and complain I was told that the finance department would look into and it would take 3 business days before I should call back.
I’ll be calling on Monday or Tuesday and if Dell it’s not going to refund me the rest of my money I don’t know what I should do next if tell them to stop the order of my new Studio or what Even if I do that I’m out of $ 350.00 with no computer. I live in Canada and this is the dell site that I've read ...
My friend and I both own Y510p laptops, but for some reason his battery will last an entire game of use and (very) light gaming, e.g. Binding of Isaac. However, mine only lasts about three hours on the Power Saver setting. I've even removed my SLI GPU to test it and un-overclocked my CPU/GPU.
Y510p - i7 4700MQ (Overclocked to 3.6GHz), SLI GT755M, Corsair Vengeance 16GB 2133MHz, Samsung 850 Pro 256GB, MyDigitalSSD SuperBoot 128GB, Intel Wireless-AC 7260, Windows 7 Home Premium (SP1)
I am planning to buy a HP Compaq 8510p. It is an unused opened open box item. The computer has never left the box, I was wondering if I bought the laptop right now the standard 3-year warranty period would begin now.
I really want the Envy 14. but I really need a laptop. but I REALLY want the Envy 14...
how is HP with their return policy? Have any of you ever had any bad experiences with returning a laptop to them?
if you haven't guessed, I'm thinking of ordering a laptop now (probably the dm4t) to use for the next month, returning it, and ordering the 14 when it is released.
I am trying to get some basic information on return policies from some different places that sell HP notebooks.
Since I live over three hours driving distance one way from any major electronics store that may carry the HP Envy 15 (such as Best Buy) I am left with the only alternative to see about purchasing a computer online. I'm not completely sure, however, that it will completely fit my needs exactly. So I am trying to find out where I might be able to order an Envy 15 but also have some reassurance that if I do wish to return it for a refund I can do so within a reasonable time.
Sometimes it's hard to tell what places have for their refund policy, especially online. Again, I'd have to be sure that the place offers return for refund and not just return for replacement.
am i able to get a refund of my hp envy in the us? I just got it 3 days and i am very un happy because purplish webcam quality, after full charge my battery and i restart it can boot into window. what policy Hp have in us. Currently im in uk and i bought it from us.
I just bought an AS1410 SOLO last month and yesterday it would not boot up at all. Called Acer tech support and they said send in for the warranty work on the notebook.
The thing is I have to pay for the shipping and to send in their defective product. Is it Acer policy? If it is then it sucks. I have a ThinkPad T43p and when I needed to send it in for warranty work, Lenovo sent me a prepaid box and all I have to do is drop the box off at any UPS store. I forgot to mention that the tech support personnel, their attitude are like I don't give a damn about your problem, you're already bought our product and you need our support now. So give it another thought before you buy any Acer product.
