am i able to get a refund of my hp envy in the us? I just got it 3 days and i am very un happy because purplish webcam quality, after full charge my battery and i restart it can boot into window. what policy Hp have in us. Currently im in uk and i bought it from us.
I am planning to buy a HP Compaq 8510p. It is an unused opened open box item. The computer has never left the box, I was wondering if I bought the laptop right now the standard 3-year warranty period would begin now.
I'm looking into buying a mini 2140 and was just curious about the risk and warrant of bad pixels on the more business class models of netbooks.
I know the screen resolutions are smaller, so there's less risk of getting a faulty pixel, but I'm curious to my options if I purchase one and there's even a single dead or bright one on there. Am I able to exchange it? Is the policy different for business class models? Are bad pixels less common in these netbook screens (roughly 1024X600)?
Even more general, are bad pixels much less possible in these days of manufacturing? My last few displays were perfect and knowing my luck, the laptop I really want will have a bad one.
so i had a e1705 that went bad so i got a new xps 1730 as replacement. so it has been acting up where it will shutoff while working for no reason and from what i have read most xps problems become nightmares so if for wot eva reason dell can not fix my 1730 what will dell replace it with?
It seems as if they only refund products that are within the 21 days after the order. But my laptop, specifically the studio 1558, had to be delayed, and I received it after the 21 days. Now I've had this laptop for 5 days and there was at least one random shutdown a day, which seems to be a very common problem to many people with this particular laptop.
Is there a way to refund this laptop?
Or are there exceptions?
They did in fact asked me whether I still wanted to resume the order the laptop, as they were waiting for a piece of hardware about 2-3 weeks after i placed the order; however, this seems like a coincidence or an extremely poor business tactic, as they probably have known about this flaw.
I just got the M1730 last week, but I found a few detects such as lighting problems on my screen when it is pitch black.
The bottom and top parts have light leaking ( I'm guessing thats what you call it ). Also when I move my laptop, i see two circles appearing on my screen (Same effect as if you touched the screen)..
They disappear after like 5 seconds, but it gets annoying seeing them whenever you move your laptop.
So i called Dell today to try and get a replacement for my broken XPS and was told that although my laptop would probably have qualified for a replacement, it has been too long since the last repair for it to qualify.
The rep said that in order for a replacement to be issued the laptop must break within only 1 month of the repair. So after about 1.5 hours on the phone i am getting a guy to come fix it within the next couple of days.
I still want a replacement as this laptop no longer fits with my needs and i know it will break down eventually again anyways whether it be in a month or in a year.
I really want the Envy 14. but I really need a laptop. but I REALLY want the Envy 14...
how is HP with their return policy? Have any of you ever had any bad experiences with returning a laptop to them?
if you haven't guessed, I'm thinking of ordering a laptop now (probably the dm4t) to use for the next month, returning it, and ordering the 14 when it is released.
I am trying to get some basic information on return policies from some different places that sell HP notebooks.
Since I live over three hours driving distance one way from any major electronics store that may carry the HP Envy 15 (such as Best Buy) I am left with the only alternative to see about purchasing a computer online. I'm not completely sure, however, that it will completely fit my needs exactly. So I am trying to find out where I might be able to order an Envy 15 but also have some reassurance that if I do wish to return it for a refund I can do so within a reasonable time.
Sometimes it's hard to tell what places have for their refund policy, especially online. Again, I'd have to be sure that the place offers return for refund and not just return for replacement.
I keep reading in this thread about Dell's no questions asked 21 day return policy. Dell.com is stating returns will have a 15% restocking fee in addition to shipping charges.
I'm assuming this does not apply if there is a problem with the system. However, if it's under warranty, won't they just send a tech out instead of accepting the return?
Has anyone completed a return with the last month or so? If so, can you let us know how it went?
I know here is for laptop, but I like to ask some question? I have purchased a Dell Monitor on UK Dell website, and I was going to cancel the order but it was too late to cancel because It has been shipped,
so I have went to Dell return policy online and it said after recieve the product, must contact customer service in 7 days for arrange return collection and refund will be given after the Item is been receive by Dell
1. The bought system is on the name of a Dell employee. So is it possible 4 me 2 return it?
2. Does Dell give 100% money back in this case?
The reason why I want 2 return it is that the employee thru which the system was ordered messed up the upgrades and also cheated me. When I received the system, there were three missing upgrades out of the eight upgrades ordered:
1. I had ordered a Topo Black Colour. I got Jet Black.
2. I had ordered 7200 rpm drive. I got the 5400 one.
3. I had ordered 5300 Wifi Card. I got the 5100 one .....
I have a xps m1710 the graphics card has failed and has been replaced last week. This failed after 2 days!
Dell have repalced fans x2 CPU Heatsink and nv7950gtx already.
they now need to change graphics card again, LCD and Base plastics.
have requested replacment system like others and this has been refused i have appealed this all the way to CEO office and they state the new policy is no replacement systems, no refunds and i have to wait.
I just bought an AS1410 SOLO last month and yesterday it would not boot up at all. Called Acer tech support and they said send in for the warranty work on the notebook.
The thing is I have to pay for the shipping and to send in their defective product. Is it Acer policy? If it is then it sucks. I have a ThinkPad T43p and when I needed to send it in for warranty work, Lenovo sent me a prepaid box and all I have to do is drop the box off at any UPS store. I forgot to mention that the tech support personnel, their attitude are like I don't give a damn about your problem, you're already bought our product and you need our support now. So give it another thought before you buy any Acer product.
I have a new Aspire 8935G with Vista 32 preinstalled.
Take audio drivers for example.
Acer update site reports Realtek audio driver version 6.0.1.5847 for my system.
If I switch to Seven 32, it reports 6.0.1.5915.
If I look for Aspire 8940G, Vista 32 (same audio hardware as mine), I see 6.0.1.5918, and, finally, 8940G Seven 32 has 6.0.1.5930.
They are all different from official Realteak drivers: they are at version 2.39 and lacks a control panel element (from Realtek...) that is present in the Acer divers, the one with the desk picture and the speakers around the room.
First question is: does Acer ever update drivers for different system or they just offer the drivers that were present in the retailed system?
Second: how comes the Realtek drivers lack the control panel component?
I've order a Alienware MX17 r2 and return it within the 30 days return policy. First it's very heavy my wife can hardly lift it up never mind carry it around then I don’t really play games that much It had only one video card with the 920 processor the only think I liked it was the screen 17’ LED RGB So after reading some info regarding the Studio XPS 16-47 I returned the Mx17 and order the 1647 with RGB LED (not received as yet) the MX17 r2 cost me $3500.00 mean time I got refunded only $ 3150.00
Dell took 10% from me $ 350.00 I’m pretty P_OFF that it is a lot of money I’m not a rich man I’ve returned another laptop before within the 30 days and Dell give me a full refund. When I called customer care and complain I was told that the finance department would look into and it would take 3 business days before I should call back.
I’ll be calling on Monday or Tuesday and if Dell it’s not going to refund me the rest of my money I don’t know what I should do next if tell them to stop the order of my new Studio or what Even if I do that I’m out of $ 350.00 with no computer. I live in Canada and this is the dell site that I've read ...
Under what conditions will Dell Canada replace a brand new Studio XPS 1640 laptop? I'm currently having my motherboard replaced and they put in the wrong 1, so I'm getting it replaced AGAIN.
Right before I used my recovery partition on the Envy 6 i bought less than a month ago, I tried setting group policy in order to take control of my Administrator account. I got an error message: "Group Policy is not a feature of this edition of Windows 8.1."  I have experienced security issues My Envy 6 (in my opinion, nothing to envy about it...) since I got it.    What happens, first and foremost, is that someone other than I hijacks my computer and starts using my machine as a distributed resource. When I look at the resource monitor, memory usage stays at a steady level around 30%; the Window for the disk (Disk 0, I presume) stays at about 100%, for many minutes after I start working. There is evidence that copies of the countless Apps are being pushed through that channel to someone unknown to me.  In other words, it is as if I were working in a large company where administrators are able to share my computers memory and storage (and also, copies of programs on my machine) with others.  Yesterday, the fourth time I used my security partition, (after I had looked in the Task Manager and seen more than 50 tasks scheduled to run only when the machine was idle and it was on AC power) I decided to see what would happen if I let the fully charged battery work.  What I saw was a machine freaking out. I saw a sequence of screen shots first four, then a flash of a task checklist, then a series what looked like screen shots again--this time fourteen of them. I watched this happen three different times. Then, the machine prompted me for a "Capital A Administrator" password, which I did not have.  I looked around at resources here and at Windows, and discovered that I could access boot options by turning on the machine and pressing the Escape key. I ran through the list of options there, and finally chose EFI, where I eventually dsicovered two different ways to boot to an unknown internet address. That's when decided another tip to Geek Squad was in order (I bought their service contact when i bought the machine, what the heck). This time there was pretty much incontrovertible evidence that something was wrong at the Internet security level.  I realized this is way to much information. I will simply once again ask the question: Is it possible that my brand new machine really does have an edition of Windows 8.1 that doesn't include the capability for group Policy management? Â
I have got Notebook Compaq Presario.. I cant connect to the internet using the wireless connection.. the reason is that i accidentally did some operations, and cannot switch on the light on the front panel of the notebook.. it does not work, i mean the light of the wireless connection button does not light.... I turned off something...
Does anyone have a good way to OC this laptop other than using ClockGen? I am basically wondering if there is a BIOS option. I know there are some OC guides out there, but this laptop is almost 3 years old, and as far as I can tell does not have an option in the BIOS. Also, my proc is the T2600, not the one is this review, but other than that exactly the same. I am looking to play around with this because it is old and I dont care too much if I fry it since my new hotness is on the way.
By the looks of the bottom of my laptop it seems it might be mxm compatible as there are lots of removable pieces... including one that looks alot like an mxm slot. I know that this laptop can be configured to come with the 9200m. This is a fairly brand new model but could someone tell me whether this thin is mxm compatible?
Ive just about had it with Vista on my laptop and want to try a new OS before I junk this thing. Is anyone running Win7 or Ubuntu on a HP DV5z AMD 64 bit laptop? The machine is about a year old and I have 4gb of RAM and the thing is a dog. Ive used Ubuntu in the past on Dell laptops and its a pain to get everything running wireless drivers, flash, etc. Win7 being a RC may or may not have everything up to speed on for my machine.
So, if you have Win7 or Ubuntu on a HP DV5z please give me a shout, good or bad.
