Finally we have stereo mix!
I have a Dell Inspiron 1720 T9300 with a Sigmatel sound device.
I am missing the option to record "what you hear" or "stereo mix".
OS = Vista & XP (dual boot).
here's the problems:
1. The damn CPU whining? I know everyone has it. Dell said last time I called that they're working on some way to fix it. The new A09 Bios didn't seem to do anything for me, or anyone else apparently according to dell's support forum. What's up with that?
2. My laptop wobbles on the top right and bottom left corners. it only wobbles if I use my 6cell batt, and it doesn't wobble w/ the 9 Cell. So does that mean the 6cell's rubber feet thing on the top right corner isn't high enough? Can dell fix that?
3. The "increase volume" media button thing isn't as responsive as the other ones. i have to press really hard to get it to respond. all the other ones i just tap it lightly, and it works.
Here's some questions that I know Dell has no clue what to do with:
4. I'm currently using Vista Ultimate on this only because I couldn't get my bluetooth driver and my sigmatel audio driver to work properly on XP. since dell hasn't released a xp bluetooth driver, i used WIDCOMM 5.1 stack, and the bluetooth headset and stereo headset drivers would disable the sigmatel drivers. really annoying. cmd51229 says he's gotten it to work:..........................
I have a e1705, when I got it I had Windows Meadia Center but since then Ive had to format and Im using Windows XP Pro SP3 now and since I put this on,
I had the original drivers from Dell working with the Service Tag lookup on their website.
I had to format again, and this time around, with the same copy of Windows, those drivers, and every other copy of the drivers I can find wont work

Not sure why Sony is not releasing the latest driver in their support site.
and Vista is telling me its only 10 gb! Its a NIB western digital 320 gb 5400 rpm ATA (WDC WD3200BEVS-VATO). When I go to BIOS it shows its a WD 320 but of course it wont let you monkey with anything.
Thru Vista's disc management thingie and thru explorer it only shows that its a 10 gb drive. I've already formatted it twice thru vista but to no avail.
I got on eBay to my new E4200 and noticed I am missing some piece in there where the Bluetooth would plug in. Anyone else run across this?

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy Studio originally had a Toshiba, 5400 rpm 250 gb drive in it.
I bought a Western Digital 7200 rpm 360 gb drive to add to my laptop.
I also got the carrier assembly from Dell and I installed the Western Digital into the Studio 17 in drive bay 1 , and put the Toshiba into Drive bay 2.
I had made an image of my C drive with Vista on it, and after installing the new hard drive I put the image onto the Western Digital drive, and all seemed to be well, I booted up and get into Vista, but now I see the C:
local hard drive shows exactly what I had before, and Vista is showing my new drive as Drive F: but it also has all my files on it exactly as the original C image that I made .....
Well, i took my D520 apart to give it a clean... And then it hit me to add a dust filter on the fan so it does not get dusty.
I had a OEM speaker out of my Taurus, and that has this very thin cloth like material covering the speaker for what ever reason
might just look nicer then seeing the speaker) I cut a little square out, and then placed it under the fan. The fan holds the filter nicely, and it does not take away from the cooling
I have a Studio 17 and added a Dell 370 bluetooth card so I can use my bluetooth mouse and it works fine.
I saw a pair of Motorola Bluetooth stereo headphones, and I'm wondering if these would allow me to listen to my mp3's using Winamp, or if I go into a voice chat room if I can use the bluetooth headphones ?
I would like to try them for listening to my mp3's and I think the Dell 370 is A2DP compatible but not sure about that either, I cant find that on the Dell spec sheet. The headphones are Motorola S805 stereo bluetooth phones.
If it does work, does it have as good sound as a wired headset would ?
As everybody probably knows Vista doesn't support/have Stereo Mix, so in order to get it to work I followed a guide from somewhere (could of been here) that linked to other Sigmatel drivers and then installed them in XP compatibility mode,
however, having done that i've now totally lost the use of the inbuilt mic...has anyone else had this problem? Is there a way of fixing this or am I limited to having one or the other
I have an m1530 which I upgraded to 64 bit Windows 7. The default audio driver from windows update didn't allow me to use the microphone, so I used the Vista 64 Sigmatel driver from the dell site.
Because of a slight audio popping issue (many other people have discussed this) I updated to the IDT drivers for the m1645 as Black Russian recommended. Then I searched even further and found this list on laptopvideo2go:
http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/top...l-idt-drivers/
I installed the newest one there (6255) and it seems to work pretty just as well as the other ones did
After installing the latest audio drivers for Windows 7 (thanks to BlackRussian) it looks like Stereo Mix support has arrived - see attached screenshot.
I've done a quick test and it will pick up audio from multiple programs
Hopefully the drivers will work in Vista too
SetFSB now supports the PLL ICS954310BGLF.
Now CPUCool also supported this PLL, but the software was a bit buggy and refused to work in Vista x64.
But SetFSB works like a charm.
So, basically, the Acer Aspire 3680; Aspire 5570/Z; Aspire 5580; Travelmate 2480, and a couple of more notebooks can be overclocked easily. Also, notebooks that have this PLL, can be OCed.
Weird, I was able to go upto 200MHz with a Celeron M 420 and DDR2-800 RAM, but I can't go above 170MHz for some reason now, with the T5200 and generic Hynix DDR2-667.
Anyway, I still got a 25% OC. Will get Corsair/Crucial DDR2-800, and try and achieve a 50% OC. Temps are under control atm.

2 days before (on Vista) I was able to use the front audio panel. I was able to use headset with microphone.
Now I can only use headphones becasue W7 is not picking up anything, even though I have set it in Sigmatel control panel to be microphone.
i want to be able to play music on my webcam and found i need to use stereo mix to do this but i dont see any support for this with this audio driver.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have managed to install win 7 x64 on Inspiron 1420. The only problem so far are the audio drivers. My audio card is Sigmatel HD.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an aspire 5251-1513 with win7 home premium 64bit OS. It came with 2 gig and I'm trying to add a 4 gig memory stick. Win 7 recognizes it now has 5 gig, but won't use the 4 gig. I've tried find a place in bios to make a memory change but can't locate any place to do that. I've tried use the new 4GB stick by its sleep but the laptop won't boot up then. How to get win7 to use this memory?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI need those drivers and software. I was looking around but I can't find anything (maybe you had luck).
So If it is possible for someone who has already dealt with this to post links, it would be appreciated.

I finally got the hack for the STAC9228 drivers working. Should work with M1330 and M1530,
You can find the driver and a readme here:

My speakers went dead after a restart.
Running XP. Had this problem last year, but finally had them going again after install/uninstall of a multitude of drivers, including Sigmatel and LG and other versions.
Now they are dead again. Used the Dell diagnostics utility and the speakers are fine as well as the headphone sound.
But when I am in XP, I need to connect my headphones to have sound from both the headphones and the speakers, weird. Tried all kinds of Sigmatel drivers, but abandoned after 2 days .....
Is the MIC input jack only mono or it allows Stereo Line In too?

I've been Windows 7 now for quite a while and it's been great apart from the little brightness setting bug. There's also the issue of having no surround sound output via HDMI.
When I was running Vista using the stock audio/video drivers I've had no issues getting the HDMI (to my surround sound reciever via HDMI) to output surround sound, it just worked for whatever media I played.
Since switching to Windows 7, I've been unable to get any surround sound out at all, It's only outputting stereo. I've tried the various Realtek drivers and have had no luck, they don't even allow me to use HDMI sound output when the cable is connected!
Anyone else have this problem? or found a solution?
I'm running RC1 x86 on a Vaio Z (VGN-Z90S - original Jap. model). I've also tried it with earlier versions of 7 with no go, and I'm hesitant to try the RTM version. I kinda want to wait for another reformat until I get my key.
Anyone have surround on their Z through HDMI? (please let me know, what drivers/OS you're running.)
I need to record audio output, but there is no "Stereo Mix" in Sound>Recording. I understand that this is a common issue with some laptops. Aspire 4830T?
