View 10 Replies View RelatedI would just like to share my recent experience with Acer support and was wondering if others have the same experience.
When I bought my Acer 8930 with Vista installed I was very happy. Started to install and change everything to my liking. I played the HD disk that came with it and all was ok. 2 Days later the same disk would not play anymore. Ok no problem I had other things to do.
I was also transferring files between the Acer (Intel wifi card build in) and was getting speeds of 2.1MB/s. My IMac on the same network was showing 4-6MB/s. So, I installed a netrgear USB 300 adapter on the Acer (using an external drive, because the Acer drive was still not working) and I got indeed the speeds of 4-6MB/s.
So I contacted Acer support. Their reply: " please contact the manufacturer of the network card...." Oh wow, can you imagine if the light of your car does not work. Do you bring your car to the dealer or to Philips?
A few days later I installed Windows 7 64bit after installing all I contacted Acer again. This time about the drive. Their reply:" Please reinstall Vista, in order to do a better analysis, because the laptop was sold with Vista and not Windows 7."
Both replies are absolute Bull**** (excuse my French). I gave them my opinion and will wait until Monday to get a reply. If it is still a reply in the same trend as previous I will ship the laptop back with the friendly request to repair it.
Is this normal for a company such as Acer?
I just joined the family with my 1410. This looks terrible. Is this what I have to look forward to for customer support?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI keep hearing 4 gig support, but Sis soft Sandra tells me my 1410 supports 8 gigs of memory.
I dont know if anyone has commented on this, and just dont have time to comb through the pages on the two 1410/1810 threads.
1: i have vista 32bit os with 4gbram, does it support 4gbram fully if not how much does it support up to? or should i install vista 64bit os to get the full potential of 4gb ram?
2: Is there any window xp drivers for Acer 8930G ive only found few drives on [url]. i still need Geforce Drives etc.
Acer Extensa notebooks usually come with SATA drives. However, my impression is that models with Intel Core 2 Duo CPU's have built-in SATA/AHCI support in Vista, while AMD Athlon 64 X2 models do not:
- Device Manager shows the drive and controller as IDE/ATA, not SATA, even when the drive is SATA;
- there is no option in BIOS (even latest version) for switching from ATA compatibility to SATA/AHCI
It looks like AMD does not support SATA/AHCI, while AMD does not.
Does my laptop, E1-570-3321 not support a headset splitter? Because I'm unable to use a splitter because it's a combined jack, it plays sound, but doesn't detect audio.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSetFSB now supports the PLL ICS954310BGLF.
Now CPUCool also supported this PLL, but the software was a bit buggy and refused to work in Vista x64.
But SetFSB works like a charm.
So, basically, the Acer Aspire 3680; Aspire 5570/Z; Aspire 5580; Travelmate 2480, and a couple of more notebooks can be overclocked easily. Also, notebooks that have this PLL, can be OCed.
Weird, I was able to go upto 200MHz with a Celeron M 420 and DDR2-800 RAM, but I can't go above 170MHz for some reason now, with the T5200 and generic Hynix DDR2-667.
Anyway, I still got a 25% OC. Will get Corsair/Crucial DDR2-800, and try and achieve a 50% OC. Temps are under control atm.

The maximum resolution available on my new Aspire V5-573PG-7400 is 1366x768. It was advertised to support full HD resolution of 1920x1080. How can I fix this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was playing around with some settings of the software that came with my EM770W 3G module of my 1810TZ.
Now I am able to submit USSD codes and to abuse my 1810TZ as a phone
Acer_Mobile_Partner.png
This could be simply accomplished by editing some configuration files. So notepad.exe is the "hacking tool" of choice
Make sure, you back up these files before editing them. Also, some files are write protected, so you need to change this before the modification. It is recommended to re-apply the write protected flag when you're done.
Enable USSD support
Step 1:
Navigate to C:Program Files (x86)Acer 3G Connection Managerconfig
Edit file: PluginsConfig.xml

PHP Code:

I'm thinking of buying an Acer Aspire AS5535-5452, but now I'm having second thoughts because I just checked their support offerings -- am I correct that they don't have telephone support? I agree that most phone support is not very good, but I've been helped before by other laptop makers when I had quick, relatively simple questions.
How can Acer not offer phone support and be competitive. People expect phone support for computers.
That aside, what do you think of the Acer Aspire AS5535-5452 for $450 ??

I have bought a new Acer Aspire V5 573G without a system software. Now I want to install Windows 7 home premium 64bit on it but it doesn't work. First of all: Is it generally possible to do this? I tried to install it in the recovery mode but there was an error (something with the GPT Partition) so I switched the Mode to UEFI. I have read in other message boards that I have to switch to UEFI csm (compatibility support mode) but I can't find it.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been looking at the new timeline series notebooks for a while and got really excited when newegg put up this model for $799! Anyways, I plan on getting an external drive and was just wondering if the SU9400 with Intel GMA 4500MHD could support playing a bluray disk on an external drive? From what I'm gathering through the numerous posts about these models, it appears that the SU9400 should playback 1080P off various websites but I couldn't find any info about a bluray player.
If so any suggestions on a compact inexpensive external bluray drive?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently bought an OEM Vista Home Premium 64-bit and installed is yesterday. I chatted to a Dell tech support guy today and he essentially said that I wasted my money on the 64-bit OS as Dell laptops do not support 64-bit Operating systems. He said this was due to the fact that my processor (see above) was a 32bit processor. I however came accross this intel site;[url] whci i believe to be my processor that states it is a 64-bit processor.
Another thing; in the dell tech support application, my total memory is shown as 4GB, whilst my available memory is shown to be 2.6GB. Does this mean that all 4GB is not being recognised/utilised? Or does it simply mean that 1.4GB of RAM is currently being used, with 2.6GB left for when I need it?

Thanks to this forum I was soon able to deduce that my GPU was suffering from the well known GPU over-heating issue.

Anyone know the status on Sony's support for virtualization? What models support it
View 10 Replies View RelatedIt is known that due to marketing strategies Sony decided to limit the maximum memory supported by Z690 (aka Z3) down to 6GB, despite the fact that there are reports about Z1, Z2 and Z4 installed 8GB successfully without a problem.
The working way is the stupid (and possibly risky) way:
1. Important: Clear all passwords in BIOS! (including main, user and HDD passwords) otherwise you may have to flash back to your current version to access BIOS settings.....
Would anyone care to share their expierences with Sony when dealing with a faulty product?

I have been VERY happy with the tech support that I have received form HP. I had some problems with the speaker on my DV7t-2000, and the HP tech support has been very helpful. They originally told me (after a phone conversation/attempted fix) that they would be sending me a box to send the computer in for a fix. I just got off the phone with them, and they told me that they will be sending a new version with updated specifications, mainly a 2.26ghz quad core processor (up from a 2.4ghz dual core), and 500gb worth of hard drive space (up from 320gb). They will also be giving me a fingerprint scanner and a more powerful wireless card.
All in all, I have to say that they have been FANTASTIC. I have heard horror stories about HP, but they seem to be just fine.
Do the Studio XPS machines get the customer support that the standard XPS machines do? That is, the American customer/tech support rather than the outsourced one?
