I recently was given a broken Acer C110 on the condition that I could keep it if I could fix it.
The issue is this:
After X time (anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes) of use, the screen will suddenly lock up and display the last rendered frame, but artifacted with a series of pinkish and green rectangles arranged in a few columns on the screen. Very odd. Immediately before this happens, the (a) fan will spin up for a half a second or so.
I had replaced the memory, in case it was a bad RAM sector. No change. I figured I would do some research before spending more on new parts, but couldn't find any info on this particular problem anywhere online.
Acer travel mate 4060 * upgraded to 2 GB ram and windows 7 Home premiun 32 bit has just been recovered from a crash.
I am sending this message from the same computer. My built in speakers are not functioning . However when I connect an external speaker with a USB connection, its working perfectly well. I can watch videos and play music. I checked and it appears that there is no sound device installed.
i have a problem with my TM8006, it first died, and after i reinstalled everything several times i keep getting blue screen errors, don't know why, it might be the harddrive, but i'm not sure. If it is the harddrive can i change it by my self?
I have an Acer Travelmate 6292 and the screen turns black when I open it up all hte way. Â If I go to close it and it is about 6 inches open, the screen comes back on. Â Im guessing a wire or plug is not working right.
I'm writing on behalf of a friend who has an Acer Travelmate 4500 series laptop...4502LMi to be precise. XP sp3
Okay here's the deal:
press power > black screen with safe mode options appears > select Start Windows Normally >Then black Windows XP logo startup screen appears > then screen appears saying checking disk for consistency, volume Serial Number is 2629-16F0 > after check disk completes then Acer screen appears > Then screen saying " To begin, click your username" > then click username and then desktop appears > 5 seconds later blue screen appears saying :
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer
Beginning dump of physical memory Physical memory dump complete. Contact your system administrator or tech support group.
Then computer restarts and the blue screen appears again.... then restarts and then Black safe mode screen appears again.... then windows logo screen then restarts etc. etc. etc.
When trying to boot in safe mode screen says: multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)WINDOWSSystem32 ..but freezes. doesn’t boot.......
Laptop still under warranty. I recently had a motherboard and HDD replacement. I wanted to install Windows myself, but the BIOS was set to UEFI, and I couldn't seem to boot off of a USB drive. So I switched it to Legacy, booted from the pendrive, and installed Windows just fine.  For whatever reason, I went back to try and change the setting to UEFI. Now the laptop switches on, but refuses to boot. I get a black screen, with no logo or any prompt whatsoever to access the BIOS.Â
I read a bit and seems I need to remove the BIOS battery, let the memory clear itself to reset BIOS settings to default, and try again? If it matters, I re-installed Windows 7 64-bit.

I Just Brought New Lenovo z580 Win 7  , 6Gb Ram , 1 TB ... The problem start after 1 week , the screen random crash like the image attached .. i tried to uninstall and install the graphics card nvida and intel but nothing happen the problem that its random .. almost it happened with google chrome ,, not with high graphics games ...
So, as soon as BIOS page passed, Windows logo appears and the circle below circling. Â After 10 seconds it crashes and restarts automatically. Â New machine. BIOS has been reset to default multiple times.
I know a few people are experiencing this, not sure if it's the same with the E series, but the entire M4400 will fully lock up and die, requiring a hardboot. As in, a super-freeze: lights, keyboard, mouse, applications, display, everything. No chance to remove the freeze besides doing a hardboot. I've left it on for hours after the freeze, and still no luck.
This is a ridiculous problem. Imagine typing pages of documents, presentations, creating image files, working on CAD files and then it freezes completely. No ctrl+alt+del to save you here, no "quick-save".
Why is this happening? I've had 3-4 lockups every 10 minutes at a time. Using Dell memory, and default Dell hardware.
Weird situation: It has -never- locked up while watching episodes of fresh prince of bel-air on freshprincetv.com, and has -never- locked up while playing half-life 2 for four hours straight...this is worse than a defective GPU. More like a defective motherboard here...
My computer is randomly freezing. What happens is I'm doing something I normally do like check Facebook or some other normal website and it just randomly freezes. I have no clue to what is causing this, and it never blue screens. What happens is:
All open windows are "minimized" (on the dock they show as open)My desktop goes black and has no items on itThe mouse goes to the center of the screenThe mouse and keyboard freeze upand above the battery icon there's random letters that always read "sRpIg"Here's a picture of it. My outer camera doesn't work on my phone so it looks weird.
I bought one of these because of its rep, its long battery life and its weight. But there's a huge problem. Whenever I have four or five Internet windows open OR I have on internet window open and try to open a word doc, the computer freezes - really freezes, not even control alt delete works. When it restarts it does so from the safety mode. I've brought it to Staples, I've contacted Acer and Microsoft. They each sound surprised and Acer blames Vista and Vista blames Acer and Staples says I'm out of luck.
Having an issue with my Envy. As soon as I got the machine I installed a SSD and clean copy of Win7. Drivers were downloaded from the thread in this forum section. The computer seems completely fine, temps are well within normal range (68c load CPU 74c load GPU). Besides the crashes, I have not experienced any other sort of instability with this machine.
The issue is an annoying hard lockup-my games will completely lock up and go into an infinite sound loop. The only remedy is a hard reset-I can not access the task manager or any other Windows functions. This happens at seemingly random, whether it be 5 minutes into a match or 2 hours in. The crash is not being triggered by heat-my system stays very cool, even during gaming.
The crashes seem to happen in any 3D game (but not furmark, for some reason)-at first I thought it was an issue with Bad Company 2, but after having time to muck around, I've realized that it is happening in all my games (including Just Cause 2, Team Fortress 2, GTAIV, Trackmania, Battlefield 2, etc).
I can't think of any reason why this is happening-I have a relatively clean Windows installation (need to save space on SSD) and up to date drivers. The only program I run in the background is NOD32, which has not given me any issues in the past with my other machines (I have tried disabling NOD32, to no avail).
My best guess is that it is video driver related. I have tried the Catalyst 10.4 driver from HPs website, as well as the 10.x ALL 8.74 beta driver-the 8.74 driver unlocks more resolution options and fixes BC2 load times, but both drivers are susceptible to the crash.
I am running a Dell D630 with Windows XP, 2 gig memory.Recently, I began having an issue where the screen would lock. Unable to move the cursor,, type or anything. This would occur with various pgms, Word, excel, even with just the desktop.Cycling power would allow me to resume for some time, then it would occur again. It doesn’t seem to be load related as it can occur with little going on.I ran checkit and it showed a memory allocation failure. I have read that this may be a false failure with checkit. I’m not sure.
I replaced the RAM (2gig) and the problem still occurs.I have windows allocating virtual memory..I then tried to do a restore, thinking some update got loaded and is causing the problem, but restore fails when I run it.I am thinking possibly a bad sector on the HD, but have not found anything to check this out.
My 5050 crashes XP every few minutes, maybe half hour sometimes with an 0x07 blue screen.
I have temporarily taken to booting ubuntu (llinux OS) off a USB pen drive and it works fine, however, i might well see the HDD and DVD drive in Ubuntu but its not long before they dissapear from the visibilty of the OS. Of course this would be a crash in XP but not under these circumstances.
I can hear that the hdd is running and the cd drive will open so its not a power issue or temps.
I think the mobo ide controller is falling over or connections associated with it.
I cannot identify the ide controller (if it is a seperate component to the mobo itself) or investigate problem further without some knowledge & ideas from experianced members here.
Even trying to take this notebook apart seemed difficult & I gave up after a few screws were out. Anyone got a strip down guide/service manual and more importantly some ideas on my fault.
At first I was thinking of maybe a dry joint on the HDD connection but that was before I ran Linux OS and discovered I was actually losing visibility of both IDE hardwares. Not just the HDD, and not losing power either.
I just got my Aspire V touch, so I don't understand why the Acer applications keep crashing when I try to open them. All of my other apps open fine without crashing. (Acer apps i.e.: Acer Recovery, Acer Quick Access, etc.) Why only Acer apps are crashing? I'm trying to make my recovery files. Â Also, what is AOP Framework? It always crashes when my laptop is waken up from it's sleep. Can I uninstall it?
I purchased my Acer Aspire 7726-9829 in August 2013 and haven't had any problems at all until a week and a half ago. When running games, it appears my computer is heating up and experiencing a hard crash. (This only happens when running games. Browsing the web or watching movies doesn't cause the problem.)  At first I thought it might be the power settings, so I picked up a new power supply and set my computer to 'high performance'. (Which fixed minor clipping issues. The graphics now run perfectly for about five to ten minutes before the computer crashes.)Â
Everytime windows updates my Acer AO722, windows will not start. This started after I did a factory restore. When shutting down windows updates my system and then windows 7 will not start up after a restart.
ive just re-installed vista home premium on my acer travelmate 5320 but now the led for the wireless is reversed, so when the wifi is on the led is off and vice versa does anyone have any ideas whatsoever as i am at a loss with this one.
I have just been given a TravelMate 530 2.2 cpu Lappy
Fine for all I need but I would love to upgrade the memory. I see it says it can only go up to 1 gig and that it has 256 as standard.
I see there is a slot under a cover on the back, but only 1 slot (Unless I'm not looking properly)
Can I just stick a 1 gig unit in this slot and all will be fine or is there some unusual method to upgrading the memory. Hope it's nothing like the old Dells
=i bought a new travelmate 5730 it came wth basic Linux.....so i formatted it nd installed windows XP 2......then i installed all drivers.......n stufff
actually i want that "empowering techoonology"......how to get it?
i installed everything frm the given CD......bt wen i press the button "E"

I want to upgrade the HDD of my TravelMate 2490 notebook but I can't find anything on ebay. Can I used other model's HDD as a replacement? What are the other models that are compatible with TravelMate 2490?
I was given an Acer TravelMate 2300 by someone who has a new one. It came with no guarantees and no recovery CD. It had working verison of XP Pro on it through SP2. I applied SP3 and several updates. It worked good until... I noticed that the C drive was formatted FAT32. So I thought it a good idea to move it to NTFS. Without checking, I fired in "convert c: /fs:ntfs". It rebooted and after a brief look at the Windows XP splash, it goes straight to a stop code x0000024 BSOD. There was nothing on the drive except for the OS so I was felt OK withjust reinstalling from my media.
I dragged out my copy of XP pro slipstreamed with SP2. Booted from CD, went through XP's native setup and detected an "unknown" partition where C used to be. I must've really slammed it. I chose to install to the unknown partition and XP offered to format it NTFS. I chose the thorough format option but it goes only to 24% and stops. The display still shows the progress bar, blue background etc. at 24%.
Since I don't have much experience with laptops, let me ask, is it possible that this laptop/drive ONLY formats to FAT or FAT32 and won't take an NTFS volume? If it will, are there any ideas out there how to apply and NTFS format so I can get this cute little laptop back to a usable state?
i got myself a new Acer Travelbook 5320, i get a win xp image, i burn it to a disc, i put it in, setup loads, i hit enter and he says the setup hasn't found a HD? it says it comes with feakin 160gb of HD memo!
The problem: Every time I restart, the network card is disabled by default. On very few occasions, the network card disables itself when surfing the internet.
I tried: Disabling other network cards Going to Device Manager, NIC, Untick "Allow the computer to turn off..." Scan for malware/viruses using AVG 8.0
