I tried winflash to update my bios but it killed my motherboard, what did I do wrong.
I now have another 7720G with bios version 1.40.
How do I update the bios without killing my motherboard again.
Obviously I am reluctant to do it, but I would really like to have the machine running properly.
I just install Windows 8 in my laptop. But display did not came. so I attached my 32 inch Lcd TV with laptop and trying to update BIOS from A09 to A11. suddenly it hanged up. I restart my computer. but now its black screen. nothing else.what to do?

problem number 1) i just installed windows 7 rtm home premium 32bit and the scroll control on synaptics isnt working, is there any newer driver for synaptics touchpad?
problem number 2) i noticed that from the time i updated bios to 1.45 if i work the cpu in the highest level or even in the middle!, the temperature rises from 70 degrees (on startup!) to 90-100 degrees in 1-2 minutes....i cant work anymore....
yesterday i had to upgrade from vista to windows 7 and i had the laptop directly under the aircondition with the cover open, upside down for 2 hours! the two times i tried to upgrade without doing that the laptop after the first boot (so it uses full of power) after 30-40 seconds shuts down!)
to avoid shutting down itself i did lots of things, i set the cpu speed to the lower option and i work there all the time with a lot of patience of course...........
the things i did to check if all work fine:
tried to clean the fan...ok...nothing changed, fan has no dust and working properly
changed thermal paste with artic silver 5 on cpu and graphics card...ok...nothing changed, maybe earned 10 seconds before its shutting down.... put previous
bios....ok...nothing changed i didnt undervoltaged yet the cpu because i want to see what is the fault with the machine...
I'm sorta afraid to update my BIOS since i'm planning on getting a Core 2 duo sometime. Acer Aspire 5135, and im trying to update to 1.33....what are the risks exactly? Or am i being paranoid...
View 6 Replies View Relatedim trying to update my BIOS on my 8930G from 1.10 to 1.13 (or maybe even 1.14). Im only doing this as id like to enable VT but the only info i can find is related to 1.13.
Now ive downloaded the BIOS package from Acer and have tried to run the Insyde flash utility (x64 on Win7) but it wont install. After a few seconds it comes up with;
'BIOS not for your notebook'
In the Insyde application window i can can see the following info;
Current BIOS ID - 8930 & Version V1.13
New BIOS ID - KM2/TT2 & Version V1.14

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have Acer Aspire 5315 and was running Bios v1.33. It has been running warm for sometime and thought an updated BIOS would help.
I tried the ACER site but didn't see any BIOS updates listed for XP. I have XP Pro on it now.
I followed a different link and found BIOS 1.45 so i Flashed it using WinFlash.
After it completed it shut down, i waited a couple of min. and powered back up, when i did i saw the BSOD for about 2 seconds and then goes to selective startup (Normal, Safe, Safe w/networking etc...)
I have not tried safe mode yet but in normal it just goes back to that screen again.
I saw the thread on using the FN+ESC mode but not sure if i really need to do that.
what I should do to restore it back to 1.33? I have to check my external HD but i think i still have that 1.33 version saved that i used when i did it the first time.
I upgraded to 4 gb and the Bios was only showing 3gb/Vista 4gb.
I updated the BIOS via bootable DOS Fdd after reading things here and knowning that it was not possible via x64 Vista.
Update finished and notebook shutdown, not restart.
Now it will not turn on.
No lights with power adapter or battery.
I have tried the "crisis" disk method. holding fn+esc.
Tried power in and holding Insert.
I've tried with and with out battery/power adapter.
Opened and bridged the clear-cmos for 30 seconds.
Reseated RAM and CPU.
Tried all of this with 1gb, 2gb 3gb and 4gb.
but alas she is still in a coma.......
I have tried Acer support for help but they want it sent to them, I want to avoid this if I can.
Can a failed BIOS really kill a notebook?
I have tried the 1.35, the 1.32, 1.31, and 1.29 bios for the 5620 and all of them keep coming up as 'open flash.sys fail'.

I have been having some performance issues with some of my games. I tried to fix it with no success. I figured I should update my BIOS, which I haven`t since I bought my laptop.
I downloaded the BIOS update (3238) from the Acer website. I clicked on the application and it brought me to WinPlash64. It automatically started the bios update, but it got stuck on “Flash New BIOS”. I had to shutdown my laptop since the BIOS did not update.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an Aspire 7720z. As Vista was having so many glitches, I set up a dual boot system with XP and Ubuntu 8.10 on two partitions on the same drive. Last week I upgraded Ubuntu to 9.10 but started having power problems. I read somewhere that a BIOS update would help so I flashed to v1.45. Everything is now going great with my Ubuntu OS. The problem lies in Windows. When I try to boot to XP the splash screen comes up for a couple of seconds and the the computer reboots. I used a test disk to check the drive and everything is fine. I then tried to repair the XP installation with the install disk but was told that it couldn't find an XP installation. So, for the umteenth time, I tried to re-install XP but was told that the installer couldn't locate any devices to install onto. Completely bewildering as my Ubuntu installation works perfectly.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI upgraded my RAM to 4gb and installed Vista x64 Home Premium. the system was only showing 3gb on start up so I updated BIOS to 3.50 via DOS as it can not be done inside Vista x64.
Bios update completed and notebook shutdown.
Now no power in notebook.
No lights on when connected via Power adapter or battery.
system will not turn on.
Downloaded and tried the crisis disk to reset the BIOS and still nothing.
how to flash the bios of a Acer Aspire 6530 without being in windows.
I download the bios update and opened to see how it worked and then accidently shut the zip file that it was in and it crashed, computer froze and now it wont work!
It load the boot screen and even windows but crashes after mup.sys and brings up an error screen about problems with computer and shuts down. I have tried reinstalling windows but when i get to the hard drive section the hard drive is not there although its there in the boot screen.
I have tried re installing the bios with the phoenix recovery tool but that didnt work.
Im guessing i need the Insydeflash tool and some special file name for the bios.
My Acer Aspire 5517 Laptop is running Windows 7 X 64 with an AMD Athlon TF-20 Processor at 1.6Ghz with 2GB of physical memory. Every once in a while, and lately quit frequently, my screen goes black, and it will not boot...I have attached an exterior Monitor to it, with no success, so I assume it is not the video portion. To get it to boot I turn it off and on until it re-boots. Sometimes it reboots quickly and at other times it takes several minutes...up to 20 or 30 sometimes. I have run a disc check to see if all the  sectors are good on the hard drive. It checks out okay..I thought if the BIOS was out of date, I would update it, to  see if that work....

A few days after receive it i dicided to made a bios update and updated to v0.3236. all went well but after reboot the media keys doesn't worked.
After that i tried to search for v0.3221 but can't find it on acer website so i update wit v0.3211 and media keys start working again.
Has this happenned to someone else?
Can anyone arrange me the bios v0.3221?

It has vista home premium preinstalled. Lately I installed Xp on it (Ive done it many times before because its faster) The only thing is that with Xp it shutsdown after some time, 'cuase of the heat. So I thought I'll update the BIOS. It went well but then IT shutsdown! I was afraid of this but it happened. Now my Lap won't boot, nothing comes up, not even a sound! The only thing that work is the dvd driver. The fan goes like it would boot but nothing. I tried to flash it via usb but didn't read the usb.
After i updated to the new vista BIOS 3c25. my ferrari 3400 cannot wake up from standby. the screen is blank...no Hard drive light blinks..looks like the system got hanged.i have to force the power button to power down the system and restart it again.There is no other issues other than this standby thingy..
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a two year old 5633WLMI (Nvidia graphics) Upgraded the RAM to 4gb only to find that 3gb was being shown in BIOS and Vista 32/64.
Downloaded the latest BIOS update from Acer, (v3.50) updated via Dos - Boot USB pen drive, haflway through updating it turned off, now DEAD, no power/lights/screen - tried silent/forced BIOS update but failed due to no power to board.
I contacted Acer, who were not that helpful to be honest, who told me to contact my local service centre (São Paulo, Brazil) again they were not to helpful. so I'm now sat here with an expensive paperweight.
Fairly sure the MBD has fried, so, How on earth do I get one to me to fit?
every site I've seen requires you to send the old to them but they won't ship to brazil or are incredibily expensive.
I attempted to update the BIOS in my Acer Aspire 5315 laptop to no avail, the winbios program froze straight away, while erasing the BIOS I think. So since then I havn't been able to start the laptop, no fans, but does blink a red LED beside the little light icon when left for longer than 10 seconds or so when you press the power button. I've tried the fn+esc method to boot it to flash the bios but nothing at all, tried it with USB and CD-ROM. I've tried removing all the hardware and starting it, I've also tried resetting the CMOS, still no luck.
I'm thinking that the red LED might be a little indicator of hope, or is it maybe the capacitor filling up

I've tried doing the FN+ESC and tried all the BIOS downloads in the Acer site but it still did not work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI own an Aspire V3-571G Notebook with ArchLinux dual-booting Win8.1. When I'm starting Arch I get this (Ivybridge-/Sandybridge -related) error:
"[drm:cpt_serr_int_handler] *ERROR* PCH transcoder A FIFO underrun"
After research I think a BIOS Update should fix the problem. But in the BIOS-section there is a confusing line:
"BIOS - UEFI for Windows 8 (Not for Upgrades)"
So, does that mean:
a) not for those who had Win8/8.1 pre-installed (like me) or
b) not for those who have run an inplace upgrade of Win7 to Win8/8.1 instead of a clean install.
I have an Aspire E5-571 without pre-installed OS. I don't care about Windows - I am using Linux (Ubuntu).
There are some problems reported by the Linux kernel at boot (UEFI mode) an I was hoping that a BIOS update may solve some of them (ACPI issues and unclaimed hardware). May be very well the Linux kernel but I can't exclude BIOS either.
On the Downloads page, under BIOS tab, there are four current BIOS versions with brief and strange description: versions 1.08, 1.09, 1.11 and 1.24
IF (and only if) I decide to update BIOS, which version should I use? What are the real differences between versions (Release Notes)? Except Windows 8 hacks, is there any real "improved system performance" on other OS? What is BIOS (5.2MB versions) vs. VBIOS (13MB update)?
