First of all it runs in Windows completely rock solid. I have ran stress utilities for over 24 hours, and the system is completely stable.
My problem is that it is very unstable before windows loads. For example, if I simply leave it in the BIOS setup for 5 minutes the computer will just power off. It is also quite hot underneath. This occurs also if I boot from DOS (or other e.g. XP recovery disk) boot disk to run some utilities - the system will run for 5 minutes or so, and then just power off. The time that I get before it powers off decreases if I immediately switch it on again, suggesting an overheating issue. I did not have this problem when I first got the laptop 3 years ago.
This problem is really annoying as I want to run some low-level utilities to repartition my hard disk and also possibly reinstall windows, but this problem is preventing that.
Any ideas? Perhaps some strange software that I installed? ACPI config? Memory issue? BIOS issue? Computer is hot in several areas under where the CPU / TV tuner / graphics / memory are located .
My system spec:
- Pentium M 760 2GHz
- Ati X700 256MB graphics
- 2GB crucial RAM (2 x 1 GB DDR2 533 CL4) (upgraded from 1GB over a year ago and fully tested to be working)
- Newest BIOS from Acer installed
From system information:
OS NameMicrosoft Windows XP Home Edition
Version5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 Build 2600
OS ManufacturerMicrosoft Corporation................................
Just reformatted my aspire 9500. however, unlike before the reformat, that function buttons seem to have their onscreem display, for example 'fn' + up arrow would display a green bar on the bottom of the screen. Does anybody perhaps know how to get these back?
View 5 Replies View Relatedlast year i formated my acer 9500 laptop and got a normal home win xp. A couple of days ago i got a hold of my original acer system cds and i decided to restore my system back.
Everything went well until the install finished; I was in windows and the first time i restarted the laptop it didnt boot back in win xp. When its about to start booting windows it stops and all i get is a black screen and a flickering white small line on the top line. I tried reinstalling the original system again and the same thing happends; after the first restart it doesnt want to boot xp.
I started reading forums and found out that if i press alt+f10 it might fix the problem.
It worked, if i press alt f10 before it reaches the black screen it loads into xp. This is the only way i can load it. As i read i got the feeling i might have messed up my MBR.
Im not sure how this all works but i have a hunch that my laptop doenst know where my xp is when its supposed to load it and by pressing alt f10 it somehow temporarly fixes that.
Is there any way to permanently fix this ? Some pple said that if i ran a normal non-acer win xp cd and ran some sort of MBR fix it might solve my problems. Im getting a cd from a friend in a couple of days . Is there any other way i can fix my notebook before then ?
Its not a big deal if i have to press alt f10 everytime i restart but its annoying and i have a hunch ill run into trouble later on.
I have a problem with the audio. I reinstal the O.S. because my laptop was working slow, and because the sound did not work properly. Everything affter instalation works fine, just the audio doen't work properly, it sounds...hesitating
I thought the problem was the cpu temperatures... 60º-65º idle, and just open a few windows it reachs at 75º-80º, and stay in this temps.
Notebook Hardware Control, lets make undervolting. So I make some test... and just when the cpu loads at 100% the audio works properly, clean and perfect. If cpu loads under 80% the audio sounds... but defective, not clean...
I got the dell xps 1340 and was wondering, will these drivers be good for me:

I have a 9500 GE (Hybrid SLI)...
If so how should I install them ?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI downloaded the newest driver for the nvidia 8600..Which is like a year old now..Sometimes I would get the old blue screen crash and dump when viewing certain dvds..So I checked nvidia's website and got this driver and now I can't even watch dvds in the windows media player 11..I like to use it and other players work like the built in Quickplay..
I thought it was the codec but I am not sure what to do..I have tried a couple things installing codec packages and what nOT..Downloaded the new Divx 7 package and it gave me back avi and some files will now play..But some are s till a green blank...Also the dvd playback won't even do that or play sound..It kinda starts and everything freezes and its just black..The WMP locks up and becomes un responsive...Have shut it down and start over..I was thinking of going back to the old nvidia driver that I had but now sure how to do this..
I have an acer laptop e1-571 with windows 8. the mb failed ordered a new one installed it. on boot now i get no bootable device. The bios shows the hard drive and its the first in the boot order. If i hit f12 after powering on to access boot options the 3rd choice is efi device windows boot manager. If i select that it boots normally and runs fine. is their a way to boot the machine without having to hit f12 every time and selecting efi device to boot to windows? i tried updating the bios as well.Â

Recently I developed this simple application that lets you easily configure CineDash and other buttons functions on Acer laptops. This application, “Acer CineDash Config”, is mainly for mine purposes.
I tested it on my Acer 6935G and Windows 7 64bit version. It probably should work on other models and systems to.
Some of the features that Acer CineDash Config supports are:
•32bit and 64bit systems
•Configuring applications to run and captions for buttons:oArcade DeluxeoEmpowering tech.oInternetoE-Mail•Making and restoring registry backup
•Enabling media keys to work with other programs, like winamp, and restoring original key mapping file
Here's screenshot of it:
I have an Acer 6930ZG with a fresh install of windows 7 RC 32bit. I can play Call Of Duty 4, Counter Strike, Flatout 2 etc. with no problems! But when I try to open MapleStory a blue screen appears, and begin to make a physcial memory dump? . MapleStory is a 2D-game, and Call Of Duty requires much more.
I made a little research, and I found out that alot of people have the same problem, and they said it was caused by a conflict with a program or hardware drivers. I have tried to delete my NVIDIA driver, and install it again. No luck.
And yes, I have also tried to run MapleStory in compatibily mode
As I said: It's only in MapleStory I experience the problem, and I don't think it's ram-failure, since I have seen the same problem on a different computer, and I can play Call of Duty 4.
Here is the system log:

Just bought an 8940G from Newegg and received it yesterday.
I started it up, just enough to run the recovery tools and burn the recovery DVD's. After that, I blew it away and installed Ubuntu (9.10)
My intention is/was to run Windows 7 in a VM off of Ubuntu, but I'm a bit concerned about my ability to do the reinstallation off of the recovery DVD's in the VM. I'll be running VMware 7 Workstation.
-) Has anyone ever done a native OS installation from the recovery DVD's?
-) Will the Win7 OS install from the recovery DVD's barf if being installed in a VM?
I'm guessing that the install would be OEM locked, so it technically won't "see" my laptop hardware in the VM environment.
I have an acer 8930G with a Q9000 processor, 500gb hd etc. Running visa home premium at the moment (32 bit) and looking to change.
I have created factory restore dvds in case I need to revert anyway.
But I do not want to spend ages installing windows 7 if there are no acer drivers etc for it.
Has anyone who has this laptop installed windows 7 and is it working?
I have been given an official 64 bit version of windows 7 (some guy I know is on some training course or something) but I cant find out info about it.
Obviously I need the dash thing to work for volume control, I use the fingerprint reader a lot too, I also have a tv card with my laptop (Havent managed to find channels yet though!!). Basically I want to see if everything works? IE do the vista drivers work?
Just got Windows 7, and have installed 64-bit to my Acer Aspire 6930G. I'm having some issues getting the graphics and sound "just so".
Have tried a number of drivers from the Acer website, but I cannot get the Tuba bass thing to play, and the sound is currently pretty bad.
Also working out what Nvidia drivers are the best to use is proving unusually difficult. Windows 7 automatically downloaded some when I first booted, 186.52, are these good to use? They are not available from Nvidia, just 186.51. With either of these drivers I don't seem to have full control over how to scale images, I'm forced to use my display's scaler.
I don't have any of the Acer empowering softwate installed, I tried checking out the Acer website, but I'm having difficulty working out exactly what would be best to use with Windows 7 (or if I should use it any at all.)
Windows 7 seemed to intall drivers for most items, so I don't know what I need to install manually. I no longer have any "Acer Crystal Eye Webcam" software, for example, and cannot find this for download either?
im tired of vista on my wifes acer. I have a copy of 7 ultimate that im going to put on there.....if it works..... any info? anyone go to 7 on the 5315?
View 7 Replies View Relatedi'm considering reinstalling windows 7 home premium on my laptop and i'm wondering if i can use a regular windows 7 home premimum disk instead of the "restore/backup" discs that came with my acer laptop. Reason for doing this is because i do not want all the bloatware from the original backup discs. is this doable?

I got an Acer 5535 laptop that comes with Vista, and none of the official acer websites have windows XP drivers. To make the switch myself I changed the SATA setting AHCI to IDE (otherwise XP won't work), installed XP and used the drivers from: [url]
Drivers and everything worked fine but when i went to install World of Warcraft it said my laptop doesnt meet the minimum requirements, I then right clicked My Computer -> properties, and noticed it says I have 1Ghz speed and 1.75 RAM when it should be 2GHZ and 2GB RAM.
So far i noticed no decrease in speed but would this ruin my laptop this way, and why has the numbers of my computer speed changed? I'll switch back to Vista if it means keeping my laptop running fine, but i prefer XP if possible.
I owned a acer 6920g and i just installed windows 7 ultimate 64bit. I was just wondering how to get all the drivers to install? Do i install vista 64bit driver or 6930g model driver?
I dont know where to get the drivers. I want my 6920g to work like it use to be.
My 3810TZ should be here tomorrow and I plan on not using the pre-installed vista OS but rather moving right to 64bit Windows 7. I believe I have read a few posts where people have installed Windows 7 with no problems (with drivers or otherwise) but I just wanted to start this thread to get a better feel for how many people are running it and how common problems are (esp with regards to installation or drivers).
are you running windows7 on your timeline? What has your experience been?
I own an Acer Aspire 6920G. I'm thinking about changing my OS from Windows Vista, to Windows 7. Is there anything I should know, like driver and software problems? Anything I should be ready to fix if I decide to install Windows 7 On this laptop?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI own Acer 6930G laptop and have recently upgraded to Windows 7 (x64). Now I`m having problems with integrated "Tuba" subwoofer. When playing media that has some sort of sound (audio / video files), after some time the subwoofer starts to make nasty sounds as if something was stuck in it. After I restart the program everything goes to normal for like 1-10 minutes.
Tried both versions (5888 and 5901) of Realtek sound drivers from Acer website and still no good. I`m pretty sure that it`s driver problem since I hadn`t such problems when using Windows XP.
I would like to install Windows XP on the second hard drive of my 6930G.
And I was wondering I could use a XP OEM disc that I got from HP about 5 years ago for an NC 8000 notebook? Also do all those OEM XP discs on eBay work with any compuer? Or do I need a speciific brand of computer?
I had bought an Acer laptop with Vista Home Premium 32 bit in the period before the launch of Windows 7, and applied for the free Windows 7 upgrade kit.
Acer sends an upgrade disc that is of the same type as your Vista OS.
So I got an upgrade disc for Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit, as well as a product key on the COA.
What I want to ask is whether it is possible for me to install Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit through a clean install by finding a friend with the normal retail Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade DVDs, using the 64 bit DVD and then entering the product key that came with my Acer 32 bit Windows 7 HP upgrade disc.
Has any one here received their windows upgrade 7 from Acer yet? Please can you tell me if the 64bit version is included or is it 32bit only?
