View 10 RepliesI have a small grey blob about 3 pixel by 3 and its annoying me.
when i turn the laptop off or to screen, i cant see it but when its on its always there.

i cant remember how long its been there but now i notice it, its annoying me
I have a SR290 which i purchase via sonystyle on 11/26/08, so after like 4 months i just realized that i have a dead pixel on my bottom right corner,
is there anything i can do? Does my limited 1 year warranty covers this?
I received my Vaio Z21WN/B last week and it is a spectacular laptop. However I was pretty miffed when I found there was a glowing pixel in the middle of the screen.
Upon inspection on a black background I have managed to single out over SEVEN of these pixels, all of them seem white apart from one which is red.
Now the pixels are very hard to see, some more difficult than others and you do have to look for them to find them but it's like anything of this nature, once you know they're there you just go looking for them and they gradually become more annoying each time
I bought the laptop from an eBay seller and really it wasn't his fault for selling this as it was as the unit was sealed and he would not of known this until it was opened. It'd be pretty bad of me to ask for my money back when he was a private seller.
Do you reckon I'm within my right to phone Sony and ask for a replacement screen or should I not bother?
any users on here who have dead pixels on their laptop screen and just put up with them? Is this a widespread problem with most people worldwide or is it just the select minority people such as myself that are bothered about it?
Anyone hear of a rogue black hole? Goes around the galaxies suckin up crap anywhere, ya well I have a rogue dead pixel. I've had it for a long time, just above the vista start button, but a few weeks ago it moved a centimeter down and it lasted for about a week or so and now i noticed it move like a half cm to the left.
View 6 Replies View Relatedhave beautiful LG screen in My XPS M1530 but recently i started to notice few black dots in the screen , i thought it might be dead pixel but they look completely different from all the pics i have seen in the internet .
It looks more like a dust particle then a Dead Pixel . and its very annoying
But I want to make sure before i call dell.
here are few pictures ( one in the middle and many in the side of the screen )

I Tried for Better Pictures but this what i got any other means guys and if those are Dust Particles , how to remove them i have tried to clean them from outside its not going
I'm looking into buying a mini 2140 and was just curious about the risk and warrant of bad pixels on the more business class models of netbooks.
I know the screen resolutions are smaller, so there's less risk of getting a faulty pixel, but I'm curious to my options if I purchase one and there's even a single dead or bright one on there. Am I able to exchange it? Is the policy different for business class models? Are bad pixels less common in these netbook screens (roughly 1024X600)?
Even more general, are bad pixels much less possible in these days of manufacturing? My last few displays were perfect and knowing my luck, the laptop I really want will have a bad one.
My laptop just got its screen replaced due to dust and I sent in my DV5T to them to fix it. They told me it was going to be a brand new screen. They fix it and send it back to me. I open the box and notice that my keyboard is improperly installed and later that hour, I noticed that I got a dead pixel.
So I call my HP case manager and tell him what is going on and it is B.S that HP won't fix my laptops screen. They are going to fix the keyboard but as for the screen he said that there is a formula that they follow to determine if they can fix my screen. I am pissed because I know that HP ain't going to give me any break because of the fomula but it is the fact that once I open my laptop I notice that I have a dead pixel. Can they really do that? Like fix my laptop and claim that it is a new screen but has a dead pixel?
I need to know what else I can do if they can't fix my laptop because the pixel is so obvious since I have the 1680x1050 res.
I just recently received my first lenovo laptop, the T440s. The overall built quality is excellent and performance is great. However, I realized there is a dead pixel on the screen. I am stilI within the 21 days return limit. I am wondering if I am able to get an exchange for one without such defect and not subject to the restocking fee?l

View 5 Replies View RelatedThe unibody macbook is a bit cheaper and I don't really need firewire, however I've heard that the screen has been improved quite a bit. Could someone elaborate how? Not in like specs and numbers but more in like real life examples. Is it brighter? Do the colors pop out more? etc, etc.

View 10 Replies View RelatedBought a 13" MBP two weeks ago and I love it. I noticed a stuck red pixel, and tried a few methods to fix it. The flashing colours method didn't work, but then I tapped with a pencil and it disappeared for a couple of hours and came back. Then I massaged it and it's been gone for a few days. has anyone been successful in permanently getting rid of a stuck pixel? Do the stuck pixels usually come back, and if so, about how long does it last?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a pixel that is a little confused. It just does not know what colour to be. On my orange back ground it is black, I move over it with a grey window it turns green then kind goes back to normal to a lighter colour orange. Then goes back to black. even weirder if I move a window around below it, like far below it it goes away depending on where the window is.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe MBP I bought in Aug '07 2.4 GHz model seems to be having some screen issues... in particular ... pixel issues on the far left side of my screen... I'm attaching a pdf shot of the areas in question that i took with my camera ... there are quite a few patches of pixels that are remaining a shade of white and are not responding to any colour change in desktop wallpaper/ movies/ anything...
I'm terribly dissappointed with this... i've taken pains to ensure that the MBP is always padded when i take it out (and i can count the number of times i've taken it outside home with fingers on one hand) .... so... i'm sure i haven't bumped it anywhere...
I have the apple protection plan...
any advice on what my options might be at this point? would apple look into screen replacement options? I'm in India and there aren't any official apple stores out here either:| (the closest thing out here to an apple store is a premium reseller) ...
on a totally separate note .. my battery seems to be performing excruciatingly badly as well.. health is at 84% after 64 cycles ... and that's after i've done the battery calibration tests ......
I think it was time for my 8600M GT to die as well... I restarted my 2007 MBP and no display came up on my monitor (connected to MBP). So, I restarted and tried again...no display. I proceeded with unplugging my monitor and restarting to see if anything came up on my MBP display; it remained black. I tried resetting PRAM three times and still, no display came up. I have lost my display before, but not after this many attempts on trying to "revive" it.
I guess I need to take it in to have the graphics card replaced as well as the Superdrive as it is spitting all CDs and DVDs out (mind you, they worked perfectly on another MBP). I have a password at the log-in screen. That shouldn't be a problem for the guys repairing my MBP, will it?
My mac book pro 15" next gen has now only 16 colors no matter what i do like no matter how many times i reboot or shut down or reset my hardware i only now get 16 colors.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI am at my wits end with my e1705. I had a sudden meltdown about 2 weeks ago... screen went scrambled, BSOD,etc...
Performed diagnostic, memory on video card came back as bad. Replaced with new card (from Dell), reinstalled OS, completely reinstalled nVidea drivers from Dell (Used driver cleaner too)...
Everything went smooth for a couple hours after this was completed yesterday (full diagnostic showed no errors), but after booting up today, after about 5 or 10 minutes of use screen freezes and turns either solid cyan or black... a small pattern of thin lines appears also.
So, during the summer I work for my school. Last summer we got 2 MBP 15", and now both batteries are dead. By dead I mean won't even charge. They are literally dead. What can I do? We will probably end up buying new batteries, but what may be the cause of this?
View 10 Replies View RelatedIn the past, I used to have an hp pavalion laptop. I usually kept the screen at a little past half brightness and in 3 years, the screen no longer even turns on which means the backlight is dead. The same thing is true for my mother's 17 inch lcd monitor. Now I realize that this may just be bad luck, but I don't want to risk anything with my new macbook.
What's a "safe" level to leave the brightness at? And is the LED long lasting? Is it expensive to replace? I hate dim screens but I don't want this screen to die that fast, I want to make this last AT LEAST 8 years.

I don't notice any artifacts but I just notice huge FPS hits. I also think my fan isn't running anymore but I am not sure. Does anyone one know what I should do now? Its out of warranty already.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI try a lot of methods for fixing it..(software + tapping, massaging..) but it's there...
I'm noticed it a couple days after purchase.. A red dot is nearly center of the screen and especially to become visible on white background.. FullHD resolution is hide it because it's toooooo tiny.. But if you know it's there, damn.. it's there...
I'm think to change it.. But i'm worry about to another bigger issue on new unit.. Louder fan, uneven backlight lcd, build quality issues...etc.. I have a one change right.. It's not warranty procedure because one stuck pixel is not meet warranty conditions..
I've been travelling for the last 14 months and couldn't stand using my Asus EEE 901 as my only computer. So I got my beloved XPS M1330 send to me from sweden (where I'm from) a couple of weeks ago.
Everything worked fine when I got it, but quickly installed windows 7 on it (since win 7 wasn't released when I left home).
I did however notice that the CPU usage was always between 10-40%, even when I didn't do anything. It became better when I installed windows 7 but was still unusually high. That didn't really do anything because it was such pleasure using a real computer after a year with a 8,9" netbook as only computer.
[PPROBLEM START]
Approximately 1,5 week after I recived my computer, I was surfing the web as usual, when I suddenly noticed a spot in the middle of the screen. I tried to scroll to see if it was some dirt on the screen but it followed the scroll.
A couple of second later the screen got colored horizontal lines and after another couple of seconds the screen looked like this:
I got completely terrified, and the happiness i had for my "new" computer quickly turned into a horror movie.
I had to hold the power button to turn it off and after a couple of minutes I started it again. Bios loading looked fine but the screen froze at the Windows loading bars with some colored lines in the middle. Had to hold power to turn it off, and haven't dared to start it again since.
Is it my graphics card (8400 GS 128MB) that has died, or is it the motherboard which is causing the problem?
And are there any chances that I somehow can fix it?
I bought my XPS M1330 the 28th of December 2007 (2 years and 4,5 months ago), is it still covered by any warranty? Because it is obviously not a user caused problem.
Did anyone receive their Studio XPS 13 or 16 with any defects? I received my xps 16 with a screen defect (1080p 1900 x 1080 RGB LED screen) of 1 pixel wide vertical yellow line. Dell is arranging to pick it up and repair it. I am not happy about that as I expect to receive a functional machine.
I did some search and it seems this yellow (or other colour) vertical line issue with Dell laptop screen has been an ongoing issue from 2006 (or earlier than that)...
I have an old HP Compaq 6710b laptop and I'm trying to get Minecraft running. It ran on windows 7 a few months ago but now I upgraded to Windows 8 and I have the latest video driver on Windows Update because I can't find the video driver for Windows 8, how to get Minecraft running?
I have the bought version of the game.
I also got it running on Ubuntu.
