View 10 Replies View RelatedBefore anyone tells me to use the search function. I did. Except the results it brought up kept giving me 404 errors, and not being well versed in tech lingo, I have no idea what they are.
All I'm asking is people's opinion on what the perceived best antivirus program there is out there that works on both operating systems.
how to remove this piece of crap from my MBP. how to do it?

View 10 Replies View Relatedto the os x having adopted the uni mbp some 4 months ago. i have some songs on my hard disk which i wanted to send to my walkman phone. My memory card was full, so i selected a bunch of songs and sent them to trash. However, the free space left did not change. it's still the same amount. I can't transfer my songs to it. It says memory full.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhat is the best free image editor. Something equivalent to Paint on Windows. I am very surprised OS X doesn't come with a basic image editor because it comes with almost everything else. If it does come with an image point me in the right direction because I can't seem to find it.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI ordered a Macbook Pro (and no, I don't really care that the 17" came out now, it'd have been too hulking for me to carry around anyway) the day after Christmas and received it last Wednesday, the 31st of December 2008.
I see that Apple just released iLife '09. To be honest, I'd feel kinda ripped of if I had to pay for a new version so soon... do you think there would be any way for me to get an upgrade to iLife '09 for free?
What do people use? on pc, i use avast and i know some people use AVG. so any good anti virus program. i know that i wont need it most of the time as macs dont get viruses but still...
View 10 Replies View RelatedWill the 3rd gen Ipod touch be release before the end of free ipod touch deal (w/ mbp purchase) on September 8th? Or will it be released shortly after?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just want to have some programs like Windows Live Mail and MSN Messenger on my mac since they are WAY easier to use on windows (Especially the brand new 2009 versions!!!!)
So a couple question for you guys:
-How do I install Windows 7 Beta on my MacBook? (Which Virtualization Software is the best? VMware vs Parallels seem to be famous)
-How long will Windows 7 Beta last before its closed? (usually a couple months between closing and release)
-How much battery power will this setup suck up?
-Anybody already doing this?
I bought Macbook and Ipod touch last week and I did claimed online so Do I still need to Mail in UPC? I bought macbook and ipod touch at Apple retail store.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI purchased the 13" macbook and got the ipod touch cause I'm a student.
How do I get my rebate for my ipod touch? I did that online form thing and it still says it'll be processed in 30 days.
Am I supposed to be mailing anything in? UPC codes?
I am thinking of buying one of the new macbook pro's when they come out soon, hopefully. But, I have one questions. I play WoW and COD4 on my windows desktop. When I switch to mac, can I download the mac version of these games for free and play? Or do I have to buy the mac retail versions?
View 10 Replies View Relatedmy 4 month old MBP keeps kicking out errors saying that my startup disk is almost full even though I have something like 40GB free. Windows partition works perfectly fine in boot camp. I've run Disk Utility's verify disk and permissions options with no errors and I was able to repair disk permissions just fine. The bootup hardware diagnostic tool with the OS X disk runs fine too. Onyx runs its cleanup functions fine, but I still get the error every now and again.
Obviously I have performed a backup and will likely make a trip to the Apple Store but has anyone encountered something like this? All signs point to software issues, but I'm still a little worried.
Im just woundering, whats the best antivirus for acer aspire 6920g, Im a "gamer" lol, so I dont stuff thats laggy but i like stuff that keeps me protected, so give me a list of a couple of antiviruses
Plus i have an option, i get my ca thru my isp for free, so what should i use my mcafee or ca 2008?
i ordered webroot because of the recommendations but i'm not so sure if it'll run smoothly with the E6400
i'll never go back to mcafee, slows my system down like no other.
which ones are you guys using?
should i have 2 antivirus software on my laptop and switch them around every other day?
i'm thinking about getting norton internet security and using that as my frontline and webroot as my second.
I have purchased E540 and I have purchased Norton Internet security but the system does not load the installation when I insert the disc. I have tried the run command as well as other options like choosing the file from the disk in the windows explorer but still my system can not load the setup!
View 1 Replies View RelatedI upgraded to windows 8 from Windows Vista Home Basic. My problem is that on the windows action centre, I get the report that my antivirus and firewall are off and I can't switch them on. I am using Norton 360. Is there a way to solve this? In my Norton, the are both ON. How can I solve these issues, I'm not feeling safe when I go online.
View 6 Replies View RelatedJust under 3 years ago I bought an Inspiron 6400 and it came with a free upgrade to a 3 year warranty, I'm so glad about that now.
This week the screen on my Inspiron stopped working so dell is now replacing it with a XPS M1530, A very nice upgrade
Right now they're giving a free upgrade to the Blu-Ray rom drive, which is normally $125!
View 3 Replies View Relatedwhen I got my E6400 from DELL outlet, it does not come with Windows Discs, so I did a request on line for the product .....
View 10 Replies View RelatedI am considering the Dell Vostro 1520 as a laptop but I am confused about the windows upgrade option (I would get Vista Home Premium to be able to get it as a start). Here's a link to the page:
http://www.dell.com/us/en/business/n...20&s=bsd&cs=04
I was under the initial impression that any dell laptop sold in the few months before Win 7 released would be eligible for the free upgrade.
But when I look in the lineup there's one that says "Windows 7 ready" for an extra $140?? Is that the only one that gets the free upgrade? It's not really free then and why not just buy it separately?
I just made my weekly call to Mentor Media and this is the first time someone spent enough time to tell me something potentially encouraging about my Windows 7 upgrade. She indicated that this week they finally (her word) have given them some information when things would ship. She said my order would ship within 3-5 business days – maybe before – and encouraged me to call back Friday for an update. She said that e-mails typically go out 24-48 hours after it has actually shipped, and to not necessarily expect the web site status to change. Somehow I sensed she maybe knew something concrete this time instead of just having to say that they didn’t know.
I’m cautiously optimistic.
I already bought a new upgrade license for Windows 7 and was about ready to install it on my Acer, but hearing this am going to hold off a bit longer in hopes that I can save it to use on my older Vista desktop. Hope I’m not hung out to dry again being suckered into waiting just a bit longer …
Has anyone that has received their upgrade kit found that it does a BIOS upgrade? The BIOS on my Acer M1202 is SLIC 2.0 compliant and presumably won’t allow any OEM activation key to work on it until it’s 2.1 compliant. Just curious how they are doing this.
I bought the FW460J/T with $50 mail in rebate, and I also get a free upgrade to Windows 7 from Sony. I have a few questions regarding the Windows 7 upgrade:
1. Do I have to mail in the UPC bar code? If yes, it might be impossible because I have to send the UPC bar code along with the $50 mail in rebate.
2. Should I buy the full version of Windows 7 for a fresh clean install even though I get a free copy of the upgrade version of Windows 7?
Has anyone had any luck getting dell to upgrade anything because of shipping delay? Or offer discounts?
Specifically, I am thinking about trying to convince them to upgrade my warranty. I ordered a studio 17. the basic warranty is 1 year limited warranty with 1 year return to depot service. This is included in the base price. When I placed my order i upgraded (for $198 CND) to the 2 year limited warranty, with 2 year return to depot service, lojack+ accidental damage service.
I have been given the usual order delayed bullcrap like most of you. But is it possible to use this to get them to upgrade it to the 2 year NBD onsite service, lojack, and accidental? ($80 value over my original 2 year return to depot)
I am going to give it a shot this week when I can manage to find the time to sit on hold for a few hours. I will let you know what comes of it.
Anyone try anything similar? share your results
Does anyone else have a problem registering for the free upgrade to windows 7. Whenever I try to validate my service tag it says I should wait 10 days because my order might not be in the system. I order my E6400 early mid July. And it also says my system isn't eligible when it is.
I've chatted with a Dell person online and he was no help. He just gave me a number to call. I called that number and I had to talk to a lady with an Indian accent that didn't understand what I was saying. And I got transfer a couple times until some guy gave me a number to call, but I couldn't because they were closed or something. Now I call that number and they give me another number to call. Everyone keeps saying "I am not trained to handle this issue."
DVD decrypter not working on some recent DVDs
Whats a good free alternative?
