Apple :: How To Play WMP In Firefox
Apr 10, 2009
I've installed Flip4Mac and I still can't listen to music that's using the WMP plugin on Firefox. I can't see the play, pause, etc. controls on the website. Sometimes, the music would play, but most of the time it won't. If it does play, I still can't see the controls for it.

Everytime I open iTunes and play music while browsing Firefox, iTunes ALWAYS skips & crackles when the webpages are loading. CPU usage is very low and memory usage is usually at 1.15GB of 2GB. I tried changing the priority of itunes.exe to "realtime" but the problem still persists...
Anybody have any solutions? All I ask of my Dell is for it to play music while browsing the internet and it seems like it can't even do that...

I got my first mac (mbp 13") and I love it, but I'm a firefox user. Everytime I do two finger scroll, the browser lags. Its pretty annoying.
Also when I'm typing fast, the browser can't display the text fast enough, and I'm not even a fast typer.

I am still exploring my different options on the various browsers on the Mac OS.
I am a Firefox convert for the most part, and I really do not use Safari.
I saw Camino is just for the Mac. How much better is the Camino over the Firefox browser?

how to get ALL my data from firefox to safari? (Passwords, History, Bookmarks, Cache...etc) I tried foxmarks but that doesn't bring all my data.
Usally when you start a new browser it ask you if you want to import any thing. But Safari 4 didn't. If I can't do this I will not switch, witch suck because I hear it's good.

I recently noticed that my firefox finds a reason to crash on its whim most often than it was during the pre snow leopard era. Any one knows the reason why it does or how I can pin point the problem it happens next time?

I downloaded Keyconfig since I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to move to the next or previous tabs. And it's not in the list.
So I want to add in a new shortcut but I need the code for next tab and previous tab.

This afternoon, I erased the hard disk of my Macbook Pro 13'' with the idea that I had carefully saved all data on my external hard disk. After OSX Leopard was installed, I attempted to restore my Firefox profile to only find out that I had copied the wrong data to my external hard disk. Namely, the Firefox cache data instead of the profile itself.
The Firefox cache data can be found in 'user name' -> library -> caches -> Firefox -> Profiles, whereas I apparently should have copied the profile that can be found in 'user name' -> library -> application support -> Firefox -> Profile.
Now it seems that I didn't format the system properly as there are several files in the trash bin that I deleted before I erased the hard disk - even though I did erase the disk through the Disk Utility.
Therefore, I want to know whether there is any possibility to retrieve the profile that I need in order to restore my bookmarks/configuration for Firefox.

This is the bane of my existence.
System 1: HP DV4
AMD Turion 2.1GHz proc
4GB DDR2 Ram
WD Scorp BLue 250GB HDD
A really good dedicated Graphics card, could play Civ 4 at fairly high settings, 1280x800 no problems.
Now I tried to play the ESiR rip of Saving Private Ryan, no juice.
I tried it in Win 7, nothing, I installed Win 7 RC1, still couldn't do it.
I'm talking a new installation, no software, just VLC.
NOW, the funny thing is my friend, on his Black Macbook (2.4GHz, 4GB ram, bad Intel Int GFX) can play blueray rips PERFECTLY, while doing a million other things.
SO I buy his laptop because he upgraded, install a fresh copy of OSX, and guess what? It still dosen't play (although the hardware is 1000x better than HP's) I don't understand why VLC uses ALL of my CPU, and when I close EVERYTHING, and restart finder 8 times because I can't close it, the thing still stutters. I can watch stuff, but it will freeze on a frame and stutter.
It's not just private ryan, I have Terminator 2, 3, 1, and a lot of other movies.
I've tried quicktime, Realplayer, Nice Player, VLC, WMP, ect.
My friend says it might be the MKV file container, because when he was playing them on his brand new uMBP, they went fine, but he couldn't skip through the video without it glitching (pause and unpause to shake off the 'blocks'). I've never really been able to skip through a video without it hanging or getting the 'blocks'. Even a 10mb AVI sometimes gives me issues. He said it was a bad rip because he couldn't freely 'scroll' through the video.
Could this be some hardware issue?
720P AVIs do seem fine, but everyone puts their stuff into MKV. I thought MKV was better than AVI.
If I convert these into H.264 or something, will that solve the problem?

what is the BEST, quality loseless, full potential way, to play flac, and many other audio files(all, if possible) on the ipod touch? ipod touch is simply amazing, with millions of apps. I do not want to get a cowon iaudio, or iriver to play flac files and paying the same for their players just because they got better EQ, audio quality, and many many supported formats. I love apple products, but their ipod mp3 player line just needs better and wider formats supported in my opinion.
I want the ipod touch to do the same, i am an audiophile so i expect alot from my gadgets and equipments. does the Zune HD support flac natively, if not, how do u play flac on the zune HD also,

i'm really loving the new 13" MBP especially the size and battery life. however, i'm also a pretty hardcore css gamer and the only thing holding me back from buying it is the possibility that it might not work perfectly on the 13". I would also love to save money from purchasing the 15" mbp w/ the dedicated gpu. so any of you out there try counter-strike source on your new 13" mbp at full settings? what's the fps?

I've noticed that:
1. There is no longer an A/V control panel under "Window" or wherever it formally was, and;
2. Two-fingered scrolling on the touchpad speeds up playback without changing pitch, but as soon as I lift my fingers, 1.0x playback resumes.
Looking to get through some videos at a faster rate. How can I make 1.5x stick? I know QT on Windows can do this easily.

It's a phrase that's so often repeated I was wondering whether anyone thought it had any validity?
So often do I hear and read people saying things like, "if you have real work to do, then you have to use windows", and how offices couldn't exist on mac's, and how you can't get any work done if you are using a mac and your collegues are using windows etc.....

i'm experiencing weird behaviour while using firefox, when scrolling using the mouse it stops for a sec every now and then, when right clicking the menu doesn't always show up and the most annoying when loading a webpage, it takes ages.. that is until i learned that if you move the mouse pointer after clicking on a link, its instant!
anyone else having weird problems like this?
also is there any program that controls the dolby sound room? I had one on my 6920
i've noticed that the hang is every 15-30 secs, when watching a youtube video it hangs every 15-30 secs, very weird

I just updated to Firefox 3.5 today and much to my dismay it has disabled the add-on for my fingerprint reader to log into things in Firefox on my XPS M1530.
Anyone have any idea on a workaround or an updated add-on?

I've been running Windows7 on my laptop for a good month now, or longer, and I've always had this issue with Firefox, it constantly crashes. I can't really reproduce it at will, but its often enough that in a one hour browsing session it can crash 2-3 times.
All drivers are up to date, Firefox is up to date...I run the same on my desktop and have never had an issue so it must be something specific.
