Apple :: MBP- Dual Monitor

Jun 18, 2009

I have my MBP setup with an external monitor and everything is fine except that when I'm using two programs, the toolbar (very top bar on the screen) doesn't move.

I know that I can go to display preferences and select which screen has the bar but what I'd like to do is have say Photoshop on one screen with its bar and InDesign on the other with its own bar. Is this not possible?

Apple :: Macbooks And Dual Monitor

Jul 21, 2009

I'm thinking of purchasing a new macbook with the mini display port and upon research I have gotten reall confused about cables that go into it.

The one I am looking at is the cheaper mini display to dvi-d, from what I have gathered it does not support a res higher than 1920x1200 and will not support a dvi to vga port, but what I am really worried about is will it support a dual monitor set up (one screen the laptop screen and a standard other screen that does not have a higher resolution.

So will I be fine with that port of do I have to buy the really expensive one to do so all these reviews have me really confused.

Apple :: MBP - Dual Monitor Running Bootcamp

I just went onto nvidia's website and downloaded the latest drivers and installed them. No difference. Anyone know how I can achieve this?

Lenovo ThinkPad W Series :: W540 - Dual Monitor Display Resolution With DVI-D Dual Link Cable

May 18, 2014

I have recently purchased a W540 and connected to my Dell u3011 30" monitor. I used the Dual Link DVI-D cable that came with the monitor and plugged it into my Ultra Dock. The maximum resolution i can get is 1920x1080? When i change over to a Display port cable i can achieve the full 2560 x 1600 resolution? Is there something i need to do in addition to achieve the full 2560x1600 resolution with the DVI-D dual link cable? I want to be able to connect 2 laptops to the one monitor and only have 1 display port input so i need to be able to use the DVI cable on the 2nd machine while still achieving 2560x1600 resolution.

Dell :: 630 W/ Dual Monitor

I am trying to run dual monitors on a d630 with Intel 965 video and the laptop, after reboot, will not hold its settings.

It always wants to revert back the VGA screen as primary and ignores the second DVI monitor.

I have tried undocking and removing the dock profile so it can re-establish it but no success.

Dell :: Dual Monitor Resolution

Jul 13, 2009

having trouble with my second monitor that I am trying to connect.

I am using a DVI to HDMI cable and inputting it into the second screen (It is an lcd tv).

Windows 7 allows me to change the resolution of both monitors seperately. i made my regular monitor the same 1920 x 1200, but no matter what resolution i make the second screen, the edges, top bottom left and right are all cut off, sort of like a cropped version of what i should be seeing .....

I just picked up a Z laptop. Got the docking station the VGP-PRZ1. The dock has a vga and DVI connector. When I connect two monitors to the dock the software will only allow me to turn one on. I get an error "this gpu only supports a single display"

Does that mean I can not use 2 external monitors?

HP/Compaq :: DV6000 Dual Monitor

Jun 10, 2009

I'm trying to set up dual monitors, and can't seem to get it to work.

I'm using a external LCD with a DVI->VGA converter plugged into the laptop. The LCD knows there's a signal as when I plug it in it just goes blank as opposed to the "no signal" screen.

However the laptop doesn't seem to detect it. When I go to graphics properties it says "Multiple Display, blah blah, please connect another display". And there's no tab for another monitor or anything.

Sony :: Will Z Drive 30" Monitor / Dual

Mar 25, 2009

I just ordered a Vaio Z590 and am deciding what monitor(s) to order to go with it.

Specifically, I was wondering if it would drive a 30" monitor (2560x1600). The 9300m graphics card specs appear to support it, but I've heard that the Z supports only up to 1920x1200. I'm getting the docking station too,

If not, I was thinking of dual 24", but I've read that no one has gotten the Z to work with multiple external monitors either; is this true? In another post someone recommended the Matrox Triplehead2Go, but that doesn't appear to support 2 external monitors at 1920x1200 resolution + the internal screen.

Lenovo X Series ThinkPad :: X230 New Dual Monitor (no VGA)

My first one is being used through the displayport direclty on my laptop (left side).

Is it not possible to get both monitors using a combination of these cables?  Would buying a converter (HDMI or displayport --> VGA) solve the problem?

Lenovo B / G Series :: B570 Display Fails After Dual Monitor Display

After running my B570 (1068) with an extended display, the unit went into hibernation. On wake-up the laptop screen is indecipherable garbage. Apple :: MBP Unibody -Dual Screen

Jan 27, 2010

I just want to be able to have two screens (1 monitor, the other my MBP screen) going at the same time and all that good stuff...

What I am looking for, if someone is willing, is for a specific list of hardware and software that I will need to do this (if possible). And in case it matters, no I do not have Windows installed via Boot Camp or anything like that.

The sites I have been looking at today are somewhat confusing even when it comes to what hardware to buy. I am in no way new to computers, so I have a general understanding of the components, but I just really need someone who has done this or knows how to do this, to basically just list everything I need.

Apple :: How I Dual Booted Mac Os X And Windows 7

Jan 20, 2009

all my uni friends were boasting about the new windows 7 beta. I Thought i would give it a try. Here's what i did and what you could do i you wanted to do the same as me:

- download windows 7 beta from the windows website. The iso file should be downloaded to your desktop. Leave it there.

- On your mac os x, go to applications -> utilities -> disk utility. select the iso file on the desktop and press burn, if a window appears, select the iso file in it.

- after it has burned, go to your bootcamp utility and create a partition for your windows. i chose 50gb for my windows.

- then, with the burned cd still in the dvd drive, select start installation.

- Your laptop will restart and it will boot diractly to your windows installer.

- select your language and press next. You should be presented with the select partition page........................

Also, I have Ubuntu saved on my external HD iso file. So will I need to actually burn it to disk?

I also read that you can use bootcamp to do this.

Apple :: What Are Mini Display Port To Dual-link Dvi Options

May 10, 2010

I have a 13.3" MBP and a HP LP3065 monitor. At times, I would like to use the monitor for more real estate. I know there is the Apple mini display port to dual-link dvi adapter. Are there any other options that I will be able to use my monitor at 2560x1600 resolution with the MBP?

The reviews for the apple adapter suck and basically all of them have flickering issues. I would hate to buy it, return it, and waste my time on something I know that has a great chance of failure.

I also have Logitech Z-5500 speakers that I would like to use with my Macbook. Would a toslink to mini-toslink cable work?

All working fine, but only when I'm using the power adapter. If I try and run from just the battery the laptop keeps going back to sleep. It 'wakes', but after a couple of seconds goes back to sleep.
