Apple :: Macbook - Wont Copy And Drag/paste The Files From The Usb
Jun 4, 2009
I just got my 1st macbook and was trying to burn win 7 iso file in my macbook.
1st problem, it wont let me copy and drag/paste the files from the usb, said that i do not have enough access/permission.....then the copying thingy hangs, will not close until i forcequit the finder. Then all the files in the usb flashdisk disappeared....could not be seen...cant eject it eitherhad to unplug it without ejecting .
I tried burning with my brother's old macbook (tiger) everything was a breeze, no prob except the dvd was not able to be read when i try to boot with bootcamp....
I have tried repairing permission with disk utility but that didnt work either.
I can cut/copy and paste url's and text from word, etc, but I am unable to cut/copy and paste files within file explorer windows. I have tried running malware bytes and virus programs. HP support has tried remote access to find the problem unsuccessfully. Is there any other option besides doing a factory reset or restore point?
I'm using (handbrake) software for conversions to iphone and the heat builds up and even with smc fan control set at 6000 rpms it hits 82 degrees and tops out, is there a notebook cooler for my unibody macbook pro 17", I could get to keep it cooler ?
should I worry about thermal paste drying up on this cpu inside this notebook ?
I got my E6400 + regular dock few weeks ago. I'm working with Windows 7 64bit. When the dock is connected and I'm transfer files from computer in my network to the E6400.. The fan start work at full power and it's very annoying
my ipod is about to die and i need to copy all the mp3's off of it without messing up the songs names (i know if you copy/paste it renames some songs to SF57KLY or something like that). so is there a reliable program out there you guys would recommend to me for getting my songs onto my lappy? by the way, i am using windows XP. i also dont mind buying a program if i know it will work, so it doesn't have to be free.
I can not drag & drop into google chrome app, even if I use a split screen. I use this for example for google drive.I did google a lot about this topic but I never really found an answer except maybe that I have to install another version, a desktop version of google chrome.
I just got this laptop for a month and the touchpad is making me frustrating. The cursor lags, the drag function sometimes not working, the primary and secondary buttons interchange (the settings are not changed), and the left or right-click does not work properly. I got downloading the drivers of the mouse to restoring the pc to its original settings. Currently, the bios is updated but it is still happening though the update made the touchpad to become more responsive than before.
I' ve been using a pc forever. Looking at a Macbook Pro 13" or smaller. How easy is it to transfer files from a pc to mac? I use ACT for contract tracking software and want to use it on the new MAC as well. I have word docs. I get files sent to me in word too.
When I go away for work travel, I need to have access to my PST files that I bring along. On my old T60, I used a cracked version of Outlook 2k. It was clunky, but did the job. Are there any Mac-based programs that will let me view my PST files and pull out any attachments or emails I may need?
I recently uninstalled VM fusion. Probably not correctly. Being used to a mac all i did was drag and drop the icon to the trash. Then i realized it still was somewhat on the computer. So i manually deleted it folder off the harddrive. However there are 4 files it cant delete because they are in use , and when i right click on a rar file it still says "extract with winrar - windows xp pro 2- vm ware fusion" It's getting annoying.
I am unable to boot into the OS, so I am going to format my drive and re install the OS. But, before I do that I have some files that I need to get off from my Music and Pictures folder. I have the latest OS X, so how can I get these off. I have an external hard drive so the only part left is getting to the files.
I have a 250Gb Maxtor Harddrive which is 2.5" and formatted as FAT32 (so I'm able to use it on my Mac and work PC), I have roughly 100Gb worth of research documents on there already which I constantly update every fortnight. Just recently I tried to copy some video files onto the harddrive but it doesn't seem to work?
A few problems, it wouldn't copy as the little box always said 'preparing to copy' but never did anything so I kept restarting my Macbook untill it finally would copy and now it has copied over but I don't see the files on the harddrive?
i need some recommendations on what to use to unzip/unrar files on my new mac. i heard the unarchiver is good but it wouldn't extract any of my password protected .rar's that i downloaded online. im using unrarx right now but i hate how it start extracting before prompting me for a password.
I've got my Vista computer and OS X computer on the same network. I set up Mac's file sharing via SMB. So I can see my entire Mac HD from my Vista computer now. I tried transferring some files to it, and it was incredible slow, around 170kbps. I know there's ways to transfer much faster than this, so maybe I'm doing something wrong.
The MacBook is wired to the router, while the Vista is wireless. At the moment I don't have an extra ethernet cable.
Double-clicking files in the Finder under Snow Leopard launches applications associated with the types of the files regardless of which applications used to create those files. I like it but I can see why those users who have been using Mac for 2 decades hate it. Other than that it forces one to adopt a new habit, I think it makes sense both conceptually and practically to ignore creator codes for most users.
is it possible to transfer pdf or powerpoint files from your computer to the ipad and then use the ipad to read them. By pdf files i mean like school syllabi, research papers, etc. As a student, I am looking for an alternate to using my laptop to read such material, and if the ipad fits these needs, I would like to purchase one.
I'm just curious if Mac OS X has anything similar to the Temp folder found in Windows?
Particularly during program installs, does the OS extra temp files somewhere in the HD?
Aside from the browser history and temporary files (which I can clear within the browser), are there anything else that I need to clear every now and then?
So I got the blinking folder with a question mark when the macbook tries to boot up. A quick google search said something about missing boot files and booting from a CD.
The macbook wasn't bought new from Apple and I don't have the install CD that came with it. Can I use the install CD from another macbook? If so, is there a stipulation as to which version of OS X install CD I can use?
I can't and don't remember what version of OS X I have on the computer that is having problems. Is there a way to find out?
I picked up a 320 GB HDD at walmart. It is USB which I know will work fine. What format does it have to be formatted in so I can copy the files from the mac running Leopard to a Windows machine running Vista?
