Jan 17, 2009Has anyone actually purchased, installed and used the new '09 series? Pages and Keynote look like they might be worth the money, but what about iLife? Is there any compelling reason to purchase the new programs?

Jan 6, 2009I ordered a Macbook Pro (and no, I don't really care that the 17" came out now, it'd have been too hulking for me to carry around anyway) the day after Christmas and received it last Wednesday, the 31st of December 2008.
I see that Apple just released iLife '09. To be honest, I'd feel kinda ripped of if I had to pay for a new version so soon... do you think there would be any way for me to get an upgrade to iLife '09 for free?

This is what I have, and I imagine HP probably use the same drivers for most of its late model laptops on windows 7 for the touch activated media button i.e. the back lit strip above the keyboard just below the LED screen that let you activate WIFI, sound. playback..etc..
I have read from several posts that windows 7 install fine on HP laptop just that the touch strip driver does not work with the factory drivers.

Sep 12, 2009Anyone else dislike the new column browser? In previous iTunes, the bar was accross the top; access to Genres, Artists, Albums.....
Now, down the side (taking more space away from my collection views), and I have to go to a menu to select between the different options its lists.....
Honestly Apple, why? Its crappy, out of place and makes me scroll accross because before I actually had enough room to get all the info I needed on my screen (track, artist, album, track number).... now.... not so much!

Jan 10, 2009I imported photos (JPEG) into iPhoto and deleted the original folder (backup is on an external drive).
Where is that 'folder' now, if iPhoto has control of it? Can I access that folder instead of going through iPhoto?
I have trouble, conceptually, of how to edit photos on Photoshop Elements 6 with the accompanying browser.

Feb 16, 2009I noticed that there were new updates so I went ahead and installed them. On restart, the gray screen came up and just sat there. I shut down and started up a few times and same thing. I restarted and held the option key down and it gave me the OS menu and I'm able to boot Mac OSX from there.
I'm going to try to set the default OS using Boot Camp to see if that fixes the problem.
Apple :: MBP - Track Record For Hardware Updates
Mar 6, 2009Even though the desktop refresh took quite awhile, it is to my understanding that you can expect a refresh with Macbooks and MBP's every 6 to 8 months, which should put the refresh sometime between 8 days from now (unlikely) to 2 months and 8 days from now.
Is that a likely assumption, or am I missing something here. And yes, I am well aware of the CPU speed bump in the top two MBP's, what I am talking about is an all around refresh, with exception to body structure obviously.

Apr 3, 2009I am making a 10 minute or so powerpoint presentation that will include pictures, music, video, and sound effects in Office mac 2008, on my macbook.
Once I am finished, I will save it onto a USB key. Lets say I now bring the USB key and open the powerpoint in the lecture hall at my school, will the videos and sound effects still work? I know that the pictures will, but not sure about other media content like video and sound effects.
Would it be better to do this in Office 2007 in Windows?
Apple :: Windows 7 Upgrade Media And Boot Camp Install
Dec 26, 2009I understand the upgrade version requires a previous version of Windows installed. But given the way Boot Camp works, I don't think its possible to have Windows installed if I want to install Windows 7 (or any new copy of Windows) to my Macbook.
I also know that there is a registry workaround should I encounter problems w/ the Win7 Setup program not accepting my key.
Anyway, my main question is will this upgrade media work for me if I decide to install it via Boot Camp?

Well, for some reason, the other day when I clicked on the IE Icon on the desktop, the window would open to full size and then immediately close out.I could not keep the window open.
My apple Safari browser will work normally however. I thought malware or virus, but It continued to do this even after running spyware doctor, McAfee, ad-awatch and windows defender.
Finally I was able to run IE browser only if I disabled all browser add-ons . Then I re-enabled them one at a time, and the culprit seems to be McAfee Site Advisor Toolbar. If I leave this disabled, it seems to work ok but it still seems a little slow. Any reason why this happens? Also wondering if I should disable some of the other add-ons or are they there as a necessity .........

Sep 22, 2008I am having some trouble with my Internet explorer. At times when I am surfing, hundreds of new IE windows open up randomly and they keep on opening up till I kill the process in the Task Manager. I did a full system scan using Mc Afee but it says the system is clean.

My mozilla firefox is slow to open and is not connecting to any websites other than the homepage. It upgraded to the newest version when I first tried to open it and then it slowly opened up. Google chrome opens up quickly but then freezes when I try to go to another website. My computer runs windows 8.1 64 bit system. What could be causing the hangup and internet issues on my laptop? I was able to log in and browse the internet just fine last night, and these problems just started happening this afternoon.
