if a Core 2 Duo T7500 cpu and a FX2500 512mb video card will slot in with no problems? Im assuming a bios update and i know the fsb wont function at 800mhz, but other than that, it should be ok?
I am trying to upgrade my Inspiron 9400 to 320GB hard drive, Windows 7 OS and 4GB RAM.
I replaced the hard drive and the ram. Now when I power up the computer I have nothing. Power comes on, but nothing happens. Within a minute or so the powers shuts off.
I re-installed the original RAM and tried it again. Still nothing. Same results.
i'm looking to upgrade the screen of my E1705/9400 from WXGA (1440x900) to WUXGA (1920x1200).
My current screen model is a LG Phillips (LPL0000).
I've found an inspiron 9400 compatible: Samsung WUXGA (LTN170WU-L02)
But i'm not sure if i can upgrade screen from differents manufacturer easy like that.

just installed fx2500 into my 9400.. everything working great..
What should I expext the temps to be running at ... Seems hot... I could keep my 7900gs under 60c by keeping my 18kgui program runnin fans on high while playing Cod4 or CS:s... now the gpu peaks out at 70-72c...

i have an m90 t520 with 4gb ram and fx2500m,runing vista ultimate with dx10.
i try to run crysis and i cant get it to run with very high and on high it barely runs, i updated my gpu nvidia driver to 7.15.10.9808 , and still cant run it good , i tried to get a modified inf but my laptop kept on giving me the blue screen and crashes everytime i try to run crysis or even 3dmark06
if anyone can provide a working inf or a good driver with the latest inf modified installed that would be great.
and maybe an answear on why i can run the damn game on very high with dx10 even though my laptop is more then qualified to run it

I just upgraded my compaq presario 2500 bios (the exact model is 2505EA) from KF.F.5 to KF.F.14 and the flasher didn't make a backup now the computer doesn't detect the momory upgrade I have anymore, it only detects the stock memory, so if anyone upgraded his/her computer bios and has a backup copy of bios version KF.F.5 and can direct me to a download link I'd be very grateful.

Sound does not come out of the speakers, headphone jack, nor can I record using on board mic or plug in mic. I have reinstalled drivers, used system restore and did about everything that I could think of. The exact model number is HP TX 2513Cl. Any help would be much appreciated as I do not have time to send this tablet in for repairs. (and I can't even imagine how long I would be talking to HP either)
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently noticed that my 2530p (great laptop btw) runs about 10 degrees hotter (53-55C versus 40-45 C just idling) when it's in the dock as opposed to when it's just on my desk. Normally this isn't really a problem but when doing anything remotely taxing on the processor the CPU temp shoots up to 60-70C when it's in the dock.
So I searched around and there seems to be no mention of this anywhere on the Internet. I figured it might be an airflow issue. So, pulling the base off the dock it appears that the supposed vent through the right side of the dock (where most of the airflow is supposed to run) is blocked almost entirely by the sliding latch mechanism.
Is this just terrible design or is something broken? I considered drilling holes through the latching but it looks like there's flat cables running all over it.
Does anyone else have a 2530p with the 2400/2500 dock, and if so, do you have heatflow problems? Have you found anyway to fix them? I tried raising the dock up off my desk but that doesn't seem to help too much.
Bonus question: The S-video port on my dock doesn't work at all. Is this because the 2530p doesn't output s-video, or is my dock just broken?
I am thinking of upgrading to 4GB or RAM
But seem to see conflicting info about the E1705 having a limit of 2 GB of RAM

I have a Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop/notebook which recently has started to get green pixels throughout the whole screen. Have also tested external monitor and get the same result.
I have searched, googled and even called dell and the response on all cases was that i need to replace my graphics card.
The graphics card i originally have in it is a Nvidia Geforce Go 7800 graphics card 256MB. Model number is P494 (if that helps makes it easier)
Could someone pls advise me or any compatible cards where i can get the same card or any other card which is compatible and a reasonable price.
I am also after a WLAN card. WLAN Dell part number 0KC501 and also require the 2 cables for Main and Aux or the connectors which click on them as mine are completely damaged and need to be replaced.

View 3 Replies View Relatedtoday's finally the day my laptop decided to finally die. Seems like the GPU's memory got corrupted in some way, being unable to run Windows itself unless it's in Safe Mode.
I started realizing this was the case when the Windows loading bar showed green dots all over the screen, plus giving a lot of BSODs about PAGE FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA and finally, when I just logged into regular Windows, started having extreme graphics problems.
My 9400 MB died this AM! Suck!! Was looking at replacement MB on Ebay, seems there is are a few different PNs to choose from. Anybody know the most current part number Dell produced? Prices dont seem to bad compared to a new laptop.
Actually, While Ive gotten this thing dopwn to parade rest. What is the best combo of MB Vid and CPU to make. I have look ed a nd most parts are still cheaper than a new box. I hve serched these forums and read MANY MANY ides for mods but all the configurations are too numerous to keep track of.

I have a 2 year old inspiron 9400 with alternating vertical bars (black and green vertical dashes) on boot up screens and black screen with windows.
It has the infamous go 7900 gs video card I've read about here and everywhere. I've reloaded the latest (A03) video drivers and have the latest (A09) bios on the machine.
I have checked the card for dust bunnies (actually removed it for a good look and to check connections) and other than removing a bit of dust the heat sink fins were open.
Video side fan turns on in the lower 70's
degrees C and off in the upper 50's/C. I don't get any errors when I run the diagnostics (f12). It boots up in safe mode and VGA mode if I disable the graphics adapter while in safe mode.
That's how I'm using it now is in VGA mode. From what I read here I've joined the many many people who have had problems with the 7900 gs card in the inspiron.
My inspiron 9400 will not boot. The only functions I can see is the battery light comes on when plugged in to indicate that it is charging, and when I press the power button the power light comes on for 5 seconds then goes off, thats it.
I thought this problem was the board earlier, so I replaced it with a tested motherboard and am having the same problem.
I have also tried booting with just AC adaptor and just battery, no change. Right now my only idea is the CPU, is this feasible? Can somebody help me with this?
Having installed a 7900gtx in my Inspiron 9400, I let Windows Vista download a Microsoft compatibility driver for the card as a temporary measure until I got round to trying out other drivers. I've since tried Nvidia's driver from their website which didn't recognise the hardware; the Dell driver (from the M170 driver section) and the Xtreme-G 163.69 and 162.62 drivers, all of which slowed down the graphics performance of the Aero effects and some caused flickering.
I did not use any special software to remove the drivers - just basic install/uninstall. I've rolled back to the Microsoft driver which works fine within Windows and runs games fine at low settings.
I now have an additional problem in that Corel Paintshop won't start due to a "Driver components mismatch."
What should I do? Has anyone else experienced performance loss with "better" drivers? or could that be down to the presence of the Microsoft driver?
How do I get this thing working with the wonderful performance I should have?

I have an M1710, and I hate the look of the grey keyboard. I've alreayd purchased an M170 palmrest, but the M170 keyboard doesn't work in my M1710.
Does the 9400 keyboard simply plug into the M1710?

I've had this Dell 9400 for 3 yrs now, and I've never had a problem with watching AVI movies using AVI player! Recently I've had problems with the movie pixelating from scene to scene.
I've uninstalled the AVI player and reinstalled it. I've also tried Realplayer and WMP. but they all have the same result! I can watch a dvd with no problems, it's just downloaded movies.
