Dell :: Keyboards For Studio 1737

Feb 28, 2010

The keys on my Studio 1737 are very difficult to press. I'm a good touch typist, and this just requires way too much hammering to keep my speed up.

Same thing happened when I got my first Inspiron 1705, but I found out that there were multiple manufacturers for those keyboards. One of them made light touch, the other made very heavy touch (though not as bad as the 1737). Swapping the keyboard solved the problem.

Dell :: Control Precision Backlit Keyboards

Aug 17, 2009

the backlit keyboard on an m6400. Is there a way to configure how long it stays on until it fades? Or even to just make it stay on 100% of the time when plugged in?

Of secondary importance would be a way to control the brightness, but mostly I want the keyboard to remain lit much longer than it does.

HP/Compaq :: HP Keyboards

Mar 23, 2010

my brand new HP DV7T-Quad system's keyboard letters fading/rubbing off after only owning the system for less then a month.

I got the keyboard replaced and I've only had the new keyboard in for 3 days (GENUINE HP)! The new keyboard is now starting to do the same thing. I'm not doing anything to the keys but typing on them...I don't understand what is causing this, nor don't I understand why others are not complaining about their letters on their keys disappearing after normal use?

I really need some feedback on this, I'm not going to keep paying for new keyboards every other week for the life of this thing. This is obvioulsy a HP issue. Fading is normal after a year or so but not a month and not 3 days!

HP refused to send me the keyboard to let me replace it on my own, so I purchased one off of eBay (it's a genuine part not a fake.)

Sony :: Vaio Keyboards

Jun 16, 2009

Putting channels of blank space BETWEEN their keys looked like a style over substance gimmick to me, but once you start typing on it you understand why it's this way.

That design is very forgiving. You are only pressing one key at a time no matter how clumsy a typer you are.

I.D.K. if it also contributes to structural integrity, but I'm coming from having a few thinkpads, supposedly the best keyboards- and they are great- but apart from the trackpoint if you like it, the new vaio keyboards are not a downgrade in any respec

1. How is the keyboards/trackpad?

2. What does the "crystal rain white" look like in person?

3. How is the 330 in games like CounterStrike and WoW?

4. What is the resolution? I assume 1366x768?

Apple :: Macbook Pro 17" Unibody - Display - Keyboards

Jun 24, 2009

These questions go out to the owners of the new 17" unibody Macbook Pro. Before I may my final purchase...I was hoping you could help clarify a few things as I have yet to see any reviews for this particular laptop in full depth... especially here on notebookreview.

1) Does the laptop get pretty warm? The palm rest? The bottom of the laptop when putting it on my lap?

2) The edge-to-edge display, do you notice any dusts getting in it? Is there an issue with dust going inside at all? I have an HP dv5t with that infinity display and I have to say, I have 2-3 dust specs inside the dang thing.

3) When you close the laptop, do the keyboards leave marks on the screen? What if I use that keyboard protector that Apple has on their website?

4) Any issues with grease building up on the black keyboard?

HP/Compaq :: HP Pavilion DM3Z Series Or DM3T Series For Adobe Photoshop

Dec 6, 2009

my friend is thinking about purchasing a new laptop for his mother. The HP DM3 laptops look to the best solution so far since they are both lightweight and have great battery life, something he thinks she'll appreciate. One thing i'm not sure about is their ability to run Adobe Photoshop CS4 smoothly.

I don't use Photoshop very often and when I do, it's on my laptop, which is pretty decent in terms of specifications. Will the program run fine on a laptop with a Intel CULV or AMD Neo processor and integrated graphics? Which leads me to my next question:

Which Pavilion laptop would you recommend? Are they both similar to each other than the processors?

It is no longer listed under device manager and turning on and off the toggle switch does not bring it back. The only thing that helps is rebooting .....

Dell :: Latitude E Series

Nov 12, 2009

I have been the happy user of many a Dell Latitude over the years as my employer has chosen Dell as the global IT Hardware provider.

I have been enjoying a D410 with XP without much hassle and have now been asked to choose between a 6400, 4300 or 4200. I have written off the 6400 already - I think - as it is too big and I like the portability of my current D410.

Also I have an Alienware m9750 at home for gaming and an old Sony Vaio FS Series that I have bequeathed to my GF, so I am chosing the new Latitude for business only.

Dell :: Latency - The E And M Series

Mar 30, 2009

I have a theory on the possible cause of the latency issues on the E and M series Dell's and a potential solution.

I usualy don't post on theory. I'd rather prove the solution beforehand and just post the tutorial, but unfortunately I'm in the middle of huge deployment and my spare time is extremely slim for now.

If there's a few of you who are willing to run some group testing I can guide you on what we need to do.

It just involves some test benchmarks before, a (possible) fix, followed by test benchmarks to establish if this actually resolves the issue.

Some important criteria;

- OS is Vista x86 or x64

- Have a very good understanding of Windows, particularly how to backup and restore your system (if needed). In other words an advanced user.
I'm going to need to count on your honesty on this one. I won't have much time to get you out of a mess if you land into one.

Would be good to have a good cross section of systems ranging from E64/6500's and M's both with onboard and discreet GPUs.................

Dell :: Deals & ATI 5000 Series...

Mar 20, 2010

I am able to get the Studio XPS 1647 for $1634 ($1552 after Bing Cashback) that has the following:

- Intel Core i5 540M
- 4GB RAM
- 500 GB HDD
- RGBLED LCD display
- Blu-ray
- Bluetooth
- 6-cell battery

Would this be considered a good deal, or does anyone know of any other deals (e-value codes, coupon codes, etc.) for the Studio XPS 1647?

Also, I noticed some people are wanting the ATI 5000 series for the SXPS 16. What are the benefits of the 5000 series over the 4670 and what is the holdup? Does it require a new MB layout or something? I will mainly be using my computer for Internet/email, photo editing, and occasional HD video and DVD editing...I am not a PC gamer. So, would it worth waiting for the 5000 series? I'm sure the 4670 will suit me just fine, but I've read that it is 'last year's technology' and I generally like to try to get the latest available technology at the time of purchase...

Dell :: D-series AC Adapter And E6400

Sep 27, 2008

I looking to buy a new Latitude E-series but I have one worry. During the years with D-series I have built up a "infrastructure" of AC adapters in my home, car and my offices so I dont have to carry around these bricks. My wife and kids use them too since we all have compatible Dells. Very convenient indeed.

Looking at the specs for the E-series adapter it uses the same voltage as the D-series (19.5V) and the power tip looks the same(?). So, can it be so wonderful that the E-series can use the D-series adapter? I don't want to shell out money on 4-5 new adapters...

Dell :: Samsung SSD RBX Series 1 Considered Slow Now

Oct 31, 2009

Is the 120GB Samsung SSD that came with my M4400 considered slow by comparison to other SSDs now? I can't find any particular specs or comparisons that use this drive, but when I see other drives getting 200MB+/second, I know I'm not getting anything near that.

Also, is this a "first generation" drive that doesn't take advantage of Trim in Windows 7, etc.?

Also, I've tried searching for new drivers and firmware, but I don't see anywhere. I have Windows 7 64 on it now, and I've experienced a few BSODs, which is why I'm looking into possible driver/firmware causes. (Though I was also getting these occasionally in Vista 64.)
