Dec 25, 2014When i'm turn on my HP envy 4-1257er after the sudden shutdown on the screen displays the HP logo that says "please wait". After a few seconds appears the "blue screen with a sad smiley" and further reads:
"Recovery. Your PC needs to be repaired. The boot configuration data file is missing some required information. File: BCD. Error code: 00xc0000034. You need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. Is your don't have any installation media (like a disc or USB device), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer. Press ESC for UEFI firmware settings. "
After pressing the ESC button opens a Startup Menu with a choose an actions like: f1 - system information (worked), f2 - system diagnostic (worked), f9 - boot device options (doesn't work) , f10 - BIOS setup (doesn't work), f11 - system recovery (doesn't work). When I click on these buttons (f9, f10, f11) again loaded a blue screen with an error. On the usb-drives with images does not respond in any way.

Dec 26, 2014My Aspire M laptop will not boot due to the 'boot configuration file being invalid', at least, this is what the 'Recovery' blue screen states. The blue screen offers to 'Press Esc for UEFI Firmware settings, but is not responsive. I've tried F2, F8, F10, Alt+F10, F12, Space Bar, Delete and Break to try to activate the BIOS interface, all equally unsuccessful.

I followed the instructions to purchase recovery tools from Acer, but without being able to access the BIOS to set the boot order, I've just sunk another $25 into a laptop that doesn't work. The cost of service exceeds the cost of the laptop, so I'm inclined to continue trying to repair it myself. If it cant' be repaired, there is little chance I'll purchase a new Acer to replace it as this has been a very frustrating experience.

Jan 28, 2009I have Windows 7 on a DVD+R or is it DVD-R??? whatever well i i installed windows 7 fine on my Dell Dimension E310 Desktop fine. but when i put it in my brand new XPS M1530,
i fit the boot menu. and i select CD/DVD option...and it does nothing, it only boots from the HDD.

Oct 28, 2009My XPSm1530 gave me a BSOD error, but it only flashed on the screen quickly, and I couldn't write it down.
Now the system won't boot: it gets to the windows loading bar, and restarts over and over.
I have tried Safe Mode, but it freezes when crcdisk.sys is trying to load.
I also can't boot from the Vista OS CD, as the system just freezes up at 'press any key to boot from CD'
Dell :: M1530 Boot Disk?
Aug 4, 2009I am trying to create a bootable CD or bootable USB flash drive from which to run a Dell bios update.
It seems I keep getting close but then something fails.
For example, I followed these instructions but after a few seconds the Windows 98 splash screen stops moving and nothing happens.
I've tried FreeDos on a usb flash drive, but I get "Bad or missing command interpreter". I tried one suggestion from the FreeDos site but nothing changed.
I need the boot disk to downgrade from bios A12 to A09 to hopefully solve my battery charging problems. This is a known fix.
EDIT: The battery level is too low, and the bios update won't work unless the battery is at least 10% charged. Running the bios update from a boot disk with the /forceit command line argument is supposed to get around this

Nov 24, 2009I bought new LG External Super Multi DVD Rewriter (Model GP08LU11) because the internal one is not working properly. Now I want to boot Windows 7 DVD from the external device but there is no option! There is only 3 options:1 - Internal HDD2 - CD/DVD/CD-RW Drive3 - Onboard NICI have Dell XPS M1530 and I update my BIOS with the last version A12 !!! When I connect the device in the notebook works fine - I can read and write DVDs! But I have no luck when I'm trying to boot the DVD - the device is not listed like a boot option! I have no problems with others notebooks and desktops!

Jan 13, 2009I'm running a dual boot on my m1530 with Vista and XP. I used a link I found on these forums to find the XP drivers, put them on the disc, and install them that way. I tried to find the link again, but I cant.
Anyways, the problem is that when I close the laptop lid in XP (the problem does not occur in Vista) the screen goes black (maybe into hibernation?) and I have to hold the power button down to shut down the computer and restart it. I've tried fooling around with settings and that doesnt help.
Maybe it's a driver issue? Can some one lead me to the correct driver...or tell me what else may resolve the problem?

Feb 4, 2010I have already searched and followed any possible solutions I have found but I still only get about 4-5mbps either copying files onto a USB OR copying onto an SD card.
Before I enabled advanced performance in Disk policies I was only getting about 500kb/sec after that I get 4-5MB/sec
but I'm still not happy with that. My friends inspiron 15 copied the same files at 12MB/sec onto the same SD CARD!!!! I know I should atleast be getting 10.

Oct 3, 2012I recently suffered a complete failure of my xps m1530 which was purchased new from Dell in 2008. The blue lights would blink then go out and no apparent boot sequence or illumination on the screen.
The suggestions led to a diagnostic determination that the problem was likely a faulty Nvidia chip which, of course, is integrated into the motherboard. The solution was either to replace the MB ($165) or to watch a Youtube video regarding a method whereby a small torch or even a hair dryer might be used to reestablish the pin connections. I watched the video, used the torch as suggested, and my computer now works as it should.
Dell :: Install A Fresh Copy Of Vista
Jun 22, 2009I got a Dell a few weeks ago and I didn't want to be left without all the right drivers etc so I just went with the install they put on it and took out all the bloatware.
Should I create a 2nd partition, and install a 2nd copy of Vista on that and then gradually migrate all the drivers and programs over to that side and then just eventually delete the first side?
Would that improve performance as well?
Then when Win 7 comes out I can just upgrade to that as well.
Anyway of knowing if I would get any conflicts or missing drivers or anything? Any problems you can think of?

I have a whole bunch of data and stuff in "huge number" of old CDs. I want to consolidate them into 2 or 3 1Tb HDDs.
The CDs could be Data, Audio, Bootables.
I could go into Windows Explorer and do the drag & drop / Copy / Paste thing. A couple of issues. Windows Explorer is SLOW, and the STATUS it shows when copying files is not REAL. I'd like a REAL percentage status showing copier.
Something that helps me spend the least amount of time, attention on making this happen. Minimum Intervention.
Ideally it would be a program / app that does the following:
1 - Does fast copying
2 - Automatically creates new folders in a specified location as it copies & places the content of the next CD
3 - Prior to copying it asks what MODE the CD needs to be backed up >
ISO, Simple File Copy, Audio (Raw / mp3), "Name the Folder".
4 - Copies showing REAL status and REAL (estimated) time left until this one is complete
5- Once completed with one CD / Disk
> It NOTIFIES with Visual / Sound clue
> EJECTS the Disk
> Prompts again for next disk
> Asks same "WHAT KIND OF COPY" question for the next disk.
> Does this until all Disks are backed up - Like a BATCH of them are done.
Does some kind of Cataloging as it copies. Maybe asks for Categories / Labels / Tags.

Aug 27, 2014Several years ago, I bought a HP G71-340US notebook with Windows7 (it was a refurbished model directly from HP). I have used it for mant years without real problems until last week. I am now getting on the bottom right side of my screen "Windows 7 build 7600 .This copy of window`s is not genuine" message . This is the same version that I bought from HP, though I have periodically updated Windows7 with Microsoft's updates. I called Microsoft and they told me that I either needed to purchase the software again or give them my access code from the discs, which I didn't receive from HP. What can I do to either get it to work or fine the Windows7 installation code?

Dell :: What's Up With The Configuration Inconsistencies?
Mar 6, 2009I've been checking out dell notebooks and using their system builder for the past few days. And every time I configure a system there's always something different in their config options. Mind you, sometimes this is with the same exact model.
For example, I will customize a Studio 15 and it will let me select the "No security software" option, which is nice because I hate bloatware. But then I will try again in an hour or two and that option will be gone and I'll be forced to choose the Mcafee trial.

May 18, 2009I am in the process of ordering a new e6500. I have been reading through the forum for the last week and I came to the following configuration but would like to clarify a couple of questions.
Just an idea of what laptops I have, I am using Latitude D610, Latitude D620, Thinkpad T60. This might give you an idea of what I am used to. I find T60 is the best overall, D620 very mobile but slow, D610 ok and stable.
