I got a laptop inspirion 6000. I tried to start it after a long time keep getting

a disk read error occurred
press ctrl+alt+del to restart"
When re-start just keeps saying same thing all the time only load to 3/4 of blue band...
Just received 2 new X220 thinkpads - I'm attempting to burn factory recovery disks on a lenovo USB multifunction cd/dvd drive.
I receive the 'error unexpected error occurred (rc=9)' when attempting to burn the disks - I came across another forum suggesting that the first disk is a CD and the rest should be DVD - This worked to burn the recovery media - however when I inserted a DVD to continue the rest of the recovery media I receive the aforementioned error.
I have gotten 1 of them to complete a full set of disks - 4 in total. The other one, no such luck.
When i'm turn on my HP envy 4-1257er after the sudden shutdown on the screen displays the HP logo that says "please wait". After a few seconds appears the "blue screen with a sad smiley" and further reads:
"Recovery. Your PC needs to be repaired. The boot configuration data file is missing some required information. File: BCD. Error code: 00xc0000034. You need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. Is your don't have any installation media (like a disc or USB device), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer. Press ESC for UEFI firmware settings. "
After pressing the ESC button opens a Startup Menu with a choose an actions like: f1 - system information (worked), f2 - system diagnostic (worked), f9 - boot device options (doesn't work) , f10 - BIOS setup (doesn't work), f11 - system recovery (doesn't work). When I click on these buttons (f9, f10, f11) again loaded a blue screen with an error. On the usb-drives with images does not respond in any way.
last night, I got on my desktop momentaily. Closed the laptop lid(laptop is still on) and placed the keyboard on top of the laptop so I can open the Linux gFTP program, connect to my sites FTP and run a full backup before I went to bed. No problem.
Slept about 8 hours, woke up. Opened the laptop LID to check email and forums, and I'm greeted with a BSOD. Great. Laptop is extremely warm too. So I soft shut down (holding the power button down) and the computer reboots itself.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThere's a "disk read error occured" when I startup and it won't boot into windows at all. I did a hard disk test in BIOS and the Short DST failed and the failure id is GTU23F-5QF788-XD6V5F-60UR0 for Hard Disk 1. I know there's an 80 SSD and 750 HD but which one failed?
If the ssd failed can I use the 750gb HD or does it need both?
If I do need to replace the SSD can I replace it with a regular HD (on a budget) and what size drive do I need? 2.5?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an Inspiron N5050 that is 8 mos old and is rarely used. When turned on, it shows windows loading files bar, then a start up repair screen but does not go beyond that. When I exit that screen, it shuts down. I restarted it and ran the F12 diagnostic test and it showed a fail with error code 2000-0142. This should still be under warranty because I bought the computer on 8/4/12. Is there anything I can do on my side or will this need to be returned to Dell for evaluation?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Inspirion N5050 laptop. A few weeks ago, it started running slow and Adchoices ads appeared. I removed them. I ran a scan using AVG, which detected nothing. I shut down the laptop as a precaution. Now it will not load Windows. I press the power button, the dell logo appears, then I hear what I think is the hard drive click, then the screen goes dark for a second, then the logo and a click and so on and so on. I am able to get to the menus with f2 and f12, what to do next. Safe mode will not respond ( I cannot get into it).

I kept it at 40-50% most of the time by changing battery threshold. Total cycle count was about 80 (84 now) first use date 2013-03.
On Saturday I tried to run a "discharge-charge-discharge-charge" cycle (by watching some movies) to reset the gauge of my battery. During 2nd discharge my laptop hibernated due to low charge much earlier than expected, when I turned it on it showed that the max capacity is 28 Wh and the battery is in the "poor" condition.
I tried to perform automatic gauge reset but didn't get much (29 Wh). I updated power manager and performed another automatic reset which failed too.
So I tried to make a manual reset and left my laptop paying a movie for a night. On Monday I plugged my AC adapter in but found out that the battery won't charge: "a battery error has occurred the battery cannot be charged".
I cleared residual capacitance by pushing the power button several times and reset the BIOS to defaults but got nothing.
If this problem can't be sold I would like to know the reason of it to avoid such things in the future. While googling this forum I met contradictory opinions on battery reset: ones say that it's extremely harmful because battery "doesn't like" to be discharged to 0%, others say its harmless.
I was reformatting my iPod the other day and I left the house to go run some errands and when I got back I was greeted with the BSOD. So I just restarted my computer like always when suddenly I was greeted with this:

So I pressed Ctrl + Alt + Del and got the same message. About 5 times later I was able to run some sort of diagnostics and it was showing something with my HDD. So I tore my computer apart and put everything back in just to see if that would work and I'm still getting the same.
Am I just screwed out of my 20GB of music and all those programs that I had on my computer or is there some sort of fix to be able to recover the data? And will I just have to cave and get a new HDD?

My recovery volume seems corrupted. I have no recovery cd or usb stick created because I never powered my pc on.
I have an HP Mini 1103530NR with Quickweb installed. The HP Quickweb configuration tool refers me to [URL] .... for a tutorial video, but the splashtop website gives an error message "page not found".

I tried to turn on my laptop today and during the computer booting up received a windows Error Recovery Screen . It said windows failed to start . a recent hardware or software change might be the cause and gives me two options. If i choose Launch start up repair i get a blank screen for hours and nothing happens . If i try to start windows normally nothing happens . I just used the computer the other day and it was working fine i didn't add any new hardware or software so i'm not sure whats going on . View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using dell inspiron 3521 windows 8 preloaded. Whenever i start my laptop. It stuck on dell logo with full blue bar. And after few minutes, a blue screen shows that some files are missing. Error code: 0xc0000185.
When i diagnosed..its showing error code 0142. Hard drive error. And when i force it to boot. It shows in black screen with white letters "no bootable device found, press any key". And when i press any key.. Its repeating the same error... Now i dont know what is happening.. Warranty over..
My T500 was slammed very hard one day, once I reboot, it worked for half hour and gave up. I tested it via BIOS, it gave me error code 0000 read verification failed.
I presumed the HD is dead, inserted a healthy one inside and works fine for a couple of hours and gave up again, tested through BIOS gave me the same error code.
My Aspire M laptop will not boot due to the 'boot configuration file being invalid', at least, this is what the 'Recovery' blue screen states. The blue screen offers to 'Press Esc for UEFI Firmware settings, but is not responsive. I've tried F2, F8, F10, Alt+F10, F12, Space Bar, Delete and Break to try to activate the BIOS interface, all equally unsuccessful.
I followed the instructions to purchase recovery tools from Acer, but without being able to access the BIOS to set the boot order, I've just sunk another $25 into a laptop that doesn't work. The cost of service exceeds the cost of the laptop, so I'm inclined to continue trying to repair it myself. If it cant' be repaired, there is little chance I'll purchase a new Acer to replace it as this has been a very frustrating experience.
I have a Inspiron M5030 laptop and the touchpad is not working. It only works with a wired mouse hooked up to the USB port. The Device Manager only showed the USB mouse. I reinstalled the dell touch pad from the Dell Drivers and Utilities DVD thinking the file may have been corrupted and the file was overwritten. It shows thw file in my C drive but has the message "Dell Touchpad Configuration cannot run withoutvxdif.dll properly installed. How do I go about reinstalling this folder or where do I go from here.
View 3 Replies View RelatedGot a new Inspiron 14z Ultrabook with Windows 8 64 bit, and I want to connect the Internet through a Huawei EC167 3G modem, running a program called "Mobile Partner". When I first install the modem it works fine, but as soon as I switch off the computer and switch it on again it stops working. The only way I get the modem working again is doing a computer refresh and re-installing the modem, but then it only works until I switch the computer off.
That Huawei modem used to work alright with an Inspiron 11z with Windows 7 64 bit.
I can't seem to log in to my laptop. I'm able to enter my password and then the welcome screen comes up whilst it loads but then the screen goes black and all I can see is the cursor. I'm still able to move the cursor so perhaps I am logged in but just unable to see my desktop?
