My recovery volume seems corrupted. I have no recovery cd or usb stick created because I never powered my pc on.
I have an Inspiron 5520 with Win 8 and for the last few days every time the system boots up I get the following message: "checking media (fail)". The message appears twice then the system boots normally. All the programs/apps work fine. The only "media" program I used was Windows Movie Maker and it works just fine.

It then goes to a blue screen with error code 0xc0000001. I ran diagnostics and got the message error code 2000-0145 validation 100079.
I have an Inspiron 15R 5521 that is causing me no end of headache. When I try to boot it, it starts to boot (audibly you can hear the internal systems starting to go) but the screen stays black and after about 5 seconds, it starts beeping. It beeps continuously approximately once every 2-2.5 seconds, and I have counted up to about 30 beeps (it didn't stop beeping, it was just doing my head in).
It started about six months ago, doing it once when I tried to boot it, but pulling the battery fixed it. However, it got progressively worse until one night it simply wouldn't boot at all. A short-term fix was to mash F4 or F9 once the power button was pressed, but now even that doesn't work. I think it might be something in the boot sequence that causes it to fail...
I have a Dell Inspiron 5521 laptop. it does not boot. No light on screen at all. on power on it makes a loud clicking sound that seems to comes through the speakers. it has seven distinct clicks, a pause and seven clicks a again. I have removed the hard drive and it does the same thing.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron 5521 that is about a year and a half old. In the last two weeks, it's begun to make a beeping noise and will not boot up. As far as I can tell, there's no pattern or end to the beeps -- it's just one beep continuously. The longest I've let it beep before I couldn't stand it anymore and popped the battery out was 25 beeps. There are about two and a half seconds in between each beep. Up until very recently, taking the battery out and putting it back in seemed to solve the problem, but that no longer seems to work.
I've researched beep codes but can't seem to find one matching that description.
Running Windows 7. The BIOS version and date is Dell Inc. A05, 1/3/2013, SMBIOS Version 207.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI tried to turn on my laptop today and during the computer booting up received a windows Error Recovery Screen . It said windows failed to start . a recent hardware or software change might be the cause and gives me two options. If i choose Launch start up repair i get a blank screen for hours and nothing happens . If i try to start windows normally nothing happens . I just used the computer the other day and it was working fine i didn't add any new hardware or software so i'm not sure whats going on . I am running The Dell Diagnostics using the F12 Diagnostics Testing Now
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am using dell inspiron 3521 windows 8 preloaded. Whenever i start my laptop. It stuck on dell logo with full blue bar. And after few minutes, a blue screen shows that some files are missing. Error code: 0xc0000185.
When i diagnosed..its showing error code 0142. Hard drive error. And when i force it to boot. It shows in black screen with white letters "no bootable device found, press any key". And when i press any key.. Its repeating the same error... Now i dont know what is happening.. Warranty over..

My HP dv1000 hasn't been working too well for several weeks. Recently, when I started it up, it showed the HP logo, then just said MBR error. I was following these instructions on how to fix it [url], but when I put a new XP CD in and pressed a key to boot from CD, it came up with this error message:

Has my laptop reached the end of its life?

I download lots of video drivers. one of them is AMD radeon HD 8730M driver. when I try to set up and use, it says that is not suitable with this pc or windows. what will I do now? View 4 Replies View RelatedI have M1330 that is trying to boot to media direct then promptly BSOD's. I believe the scenario that happened was the notebook was hibernated, then they pressed the media direct button instead of power to wake it up.
How do I tell not to boot to media direct?

I recently bought a Inspiron 5521 with ubuntu pre-installed, I shifted it to windows 7 OS and also updated the BIOS in the driver installing process,Before I updated the BIOS my Brightness was working fine meaning I can low the it down while on battery and use high settings on AC mode but after I updated the BIOS I could not do this feature any more....when I go to Power Options to adjust it manually the Scroll bar there doesn't do a thing, even if I low it down or take it to full settings.

Once in a while it detects but then goes off again. I had taken it to a Dell store where they tried replacing the battery as the diagnostics showed a battery problem, but changing the battery also did not work. Is the problem related to Windows 8.1 upgrade?

I feel it was something from inside hardware because it is not turning on by pushing on button and tried to charge him but charging light did not on but adapter light was on that means adapter is fine. I have removed the battery and puts it back but no power for laptop. There is not a error soon total no power.

Can he downgrade the OS to Windows 7(64Bit)? as he has some issues with certain software, which according to the developers won't work on Windows 8. Will the warranty be void if the system is formatted and Windows 7 is installed. Is there any option to go in for a dual boot with Windows 8 and Windows 7. As per the support center, they do not recommend dual booting on a Windows 8 system.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a new Inspiron 15R 5521 preinstalled with Windows 8and I have never powered it on because I want to make an entire disk backupas it is in a "pure" state.
I removed its harddrive (Western Digital, 1 TB) from my laptop to connectit to my desktop with 2 harddrives (one for system (Windows 7, 64 bit); the otherfor data (2 TB)), but never started the installed system to prevent the systemfrom writing some system information into the Inspiron disk.Instead I inserted a Windows PE CD embedded with Acronis True Image 2013.I chose "Disk Backup". The Inspiron harddrive had 6 partitions.The destination drive (where the image created was to be saved) was the 2-TB data disk.Clicked "Finish" and writing Partition 1...done, 2...ok, .... 6 ok and"Backup Process Failed!" at the final stage.
The final stage seems to be a partition layout.BTW the Acronis backup system has an option "Ignore Errors" (force complete).I gave it a try too, but the image created was incomplete with only 4 partitions.Macrium Rescue Disk is a similar one but with no ignore error option.I also tried this and failed at the final stage. No image created.The error message was "Unable to read from disk".Both the Inspiron disk and the destination drive happened to be Western Digital ones.I tried Western Digital Lifeguard checker on each and found no bad sectors.
I've had a problem with my LCD for a while now. For around six months the screen sometimes turns black unless it is at a particular degree to the keyboard. For example, at 90 degrees there is a good chance that the screen will flicker and will mostly be black. More than 90 usually works.
Couple days ago I turned my laptop off and before it shut down left the room. When I came back after 15 minutes I heard the beeping sound. I turned the laptop off immediately. After that, every time I turn on laptop, nothing happens apart from beeping. I tried 'D' and then turn on. Also f12. Nothing changes, screen stays black. I also removed battery and pressed on turn on in order to get rid of excess charge.
I'm currently in the middle of attempting to downgrade from Windows 8 to 7, however during the initial reboot from the Windows 7 dvd, I would get the starting windows screen, then it would freeze up.

I have tried to run the diagnostic tests on the Dell Support site numerous times and keep getting the message "A problem has been detected, please try again" at the third step in the Diagnostic test process, 'Installing my Dell client'.
A number of weeks ago my laptop began to show vertical white lines on the screen, it has gradually gotten worse and now it is unusable. I have fallen outside warranty (couple of months). I have not dropped the machine, nor allowed any liquid near the machine.
