I'm currently in the middle of attempting to downgrade from Windows 8 to 7, however during the initial reboot from the Windows 7 dvd, I would get the starting windows screen, then it would freeze up.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron 5521 that is about a year and a half old. In the last two weeks, it's begun to make a beeping noise and will not boot up. As far as I can tell, there's no pattern or end to the beeps -- it's just one beep continuously. The longest I've let it beep before I couldn't stand it anymore and popped the battery out was 25 beeps. There are about two and a half seconds in between each beep. Up until very recently, taking the battery out and putting it back in seemed to solve the problem, but that no longer seems to work.
I've researched beep codes but can't seem to find one matching that description.
Running Windows 7. The BIOS version and date is Dell Inc. A05, 1/3/2013, SMBIOS Version 207.

What's the difference between UEFI and Legacy and why can't I install Windows 7? I put the Windows 7 CD into the CD-Rom and the installation doesn't start up. It does start up only when I change the bios to legacy. What's the difference between UEFI and legacy? Is it possible to install it on UEFI? If not, if I will install it on legacy, will everything be ok?

When i turn off ahci i was fine, but i need ahci to turbo memory.
i updated my BIOS from A05 to A12. It is fine when i start up windows, fan works without any noise. When i try to play some games like FIFA, i can play normally. When i close the game and start browsing on the internet, my fan still works on 5400 RPM, and it never stops.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a Inspiron 5521 with ubuntu pre-installed, I shifted it to windows 7 OS and also updated the BIOS in the driver installing process,Before I updated the BIOS my Brightness was working fine meaning I can low the it down while on battery and use high settings on AC mode but after I updated the BIOS I could not do this feature any more....when I go to Power Options to adjust it manually the Scroll bar there doesn't do a thing, even if I low it down or take it to full settings.

Once in a while it detects but then goes off again. I had taken it to a Dell store where they tried replacing the battery as the diagnostics showed a battery problem, but changing the battery also did not work. I feel it was something from inside hardware because it is not turning on by pushing on button and tried to charge him but charging light did not on but adapter light was on that means adapter is fine. I have removed the battery and puts it back but no power for laptop. There is not a error soon total no power.

When I try to boot it, it starts to boot (audibly you can hear the internal systems starting to go) but the screen stays black and after about 5 seconds, it starts beeping. It beeps continuously approximately once every 2-2.5 seconds, and I have counted up to about 30 beeps (it didn't stop beeping, it was just doing my head in).
It started about six months ago, doing it once when I tried to boot it, but pulling the battery fixed it. However, it got progressively worse until one night it simply wouldn't boot at all. A short-term fix was to mash F4 or F9 once the power button was pressed, but now even that doesn't work. I think it might be something in the boot sequence that causes it to fail...

Can he downgrade the OS to Windows 7(64Bit)? as he has some issues with certain software, which according to the developers won't work on Windows 8. Will the warranty be void if the system is formatted and Windows 7 is installed. Is there any option to go in for a dual boot with Windows 8 and Windows 7. As per the support center, they do not recommend dual booting on a Windows 8 system.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a new Inspiron 15R 5521 preinstalled with Windows 8and I have never powered it on because I want to make an entire disk backupas it is in a "pure" state.
I removed its harddrive (Western Digital, 1 TB) from my laptop to connectit to my desktop with 2 harddrives (one for system (Windows 7, 64 bit); the otherfor data (2 TB)), but never started the installed system to prevent the systemfrom writing some system information into the Inspiron disk.Instead I inserted a Windows PE CD embedded with Acronis True Image 2013.I chose "Disk Backup". The Inspiron harddrive had 6 partitions.The destination drive (where the image created was to be saved) was the 2-TB data disk.Clicked "Finish" and writing Partition 1...done, 2...ok, .... 6 ok and"Backup Process Failed!" at the final stage.
The final stage seems to be a partition layout.BTW the Acronis backup system has an option "Ignore Errors" (force complete).I gave it a try too, but the image created was incomplete with only 4 partitions.Macrium Rescue Disk is a similar one but with no ignore error option.I also tried this and failed at the final stage. No image created.The error message was "Unable to read from disk".Both the Inspiron disk and the destination drive happened to be Western Digital ones.I tried Western Digital Lifeguard checker on each and found no bad sectors.
I've had a problem with my LCD for a while now. For around six months the screen sometimes turns black unless it is at a particular degree to the keyboard. For example, at 90 degrees there is a good chance that the screen will flicker and will mostly be black. More than 90 usually works.
Couple days ago I turned my laptop off and before it shut down left the room. When I came back after 15 minutes I heard the beeping sound. I turned the laptop off immediately. After that, every time I turn on laptop, nothing happens apart from beeping. I tried 'D' and then turn on. Also f12. Nothing changes, screen stays black. I also removed battery and pressed on turn on in order to get rid of excess charge.
About 1 Year ago i Bought a new DELL 5521 it was working fine, but like 2 days ago i was playing games in battery mod, it suddenly pop low battery 6% or maybe 10% so i force shutted down, and like not its charging up-to 60% or 65% and after this it says Plugged in not charging... i don't know why its not going above 65% percent. I have tried to run the diagnostic tests on the Dell Support site numerous times and keep getting the message "A problem has been detected, please try again" at the third step in the Diagnostic test process, 'Installing my Dell client'.

I have windows 7 Ultimate x64 and it seems like many people out there with vista and windows 7 are experiencing the same problem. I personally used both and on my other machine with win7 Ultimate x64, haven't had any random freeze at all.

I am constantly losing wifi connectivity with this new laptop or having slowed down connectivity with 2 out of 5 bars even from 20 feet away; the pages i try to load constantly jump to loading pages previously loaded, etc. I have an inspiron desktop at home with windows 7 i have used for the past three years which have given me no such problems, so i am finding all this interruptions extremely frustrating.
A number of weeks ago my laptop began to show vertical white lines on the screen, it has gradually gotten worse and now it is unusable. I have fallen outside warranty (couple of months). I have not dropped the machine, nor allowed any liquid near the machine.
