My 640M is still working fine but the LCD hinges seem to be a little loose. i.e. if I tilt the laptop a little, the lcd seems to bend on either side I bend it upon.
I noticed that my friends' laptops - Dell inspirons but newer models ( 14, 1420) etc do not have this loose LCD hinges.
I dont remember if the hinges were loose when a new laptop arrived, but its been about 3 years now and I notice this
Recently I bought a Dell Inspiron 1750 and the system has a strange noise
I sent the laptop to the Technical support and they changed the fan and the motherboard
Does anybody know if the noise is normal?
So I'm planing on reformatting my E1505, but I'm faced with a daunting problem. My laptop screen is broken.
This is the first time I'm reformatting on my own and I'm worried that the broken screen would cause a problem. The monitor I have hooked up only starts showing things from my laptop after the boot up process gets to the blueish screen that says Windows is starting up.
If I were to go into the installation menu, is there a way for me to get it to appear on my external monitor instead of the broken laptop monitor?
I have a Dell Inspiron 1750 laptop and it's 2 yrs old now.
For about 6 months, it was saying that my battery was reaching the end of its usable life and I needed to replace it. However, it still worked fine, I just had to keep it plugged in.
One night though, I realised when I turned it on that the message changed from that, and instead it just said "You need to replace your battery". It didn't shut down in my face or anything the same time though, I coninued to use it and when I was done I just shut it down as usual.
The next day when I tried to turn on my laptop, it wouldn't come on. I assumed that this was because the battery died, but my dad told me that if I removed the battery and plugged in the adapter it should still be able to work fine. I did try this, but it still didn't come on.
What I would like to know is if the problem is just the dead battery, or if something else is wrong... someone told me that it could be a problem with the motherboard...
I know for sure that all laptops don't work without the battery, are dell laptops like that too?
I have an old Inspiron 1750. I bought a new Dell battery and I am getting the message plugged in, not charging. I have the original DELL charger. This was not a problem with the old (not DELL) battery, which still charged but only held the charge for 10 minutes.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI can't find the driver for the media buttons on the front of the Inspiron 6000 notebook. I know the buttons work, but I need the software / driver for them.
Also can't find it on the dell.com drivers page (well at least, none of the descriptions match; I may be wrong).
I have never had an issue with using the SD slot on the front on the laptop, until now. I extracted the SD spacer to insert an adapter with micro sd and the adapter will not fully mount into the slot. I have tried just a regular SD card with the same results. The adapter has no problem being inserted or popped out. I don't see anything 'jamming' it or a foreign object in the slot, as much as I can see in the little spot.

I did not create backup OS CD/DVD when I purchased, I thought I did.

If you plug in speakers or a headset you have to wiggle the cord to hear anything but it keeps going out. So I'd need to send it in and have it fixed. I no longer have a warranty.

no WiFi access through my Wind-stream 2 wire router. [router and modem combined] Other devices both Macbook and Dell laptop are still connecting through my router so I'm pretty sure it's in the DELL Inspiron. I can see networks in the "connect to a network" box but when I try to connect to them, it brings up a box that says unable to connect to network. Most of the time the wireless status icon shows 5 unlit bars with an orange dot over them. The only suggestion from trouble shooter is reset the router by turning it off and on. No go there. I've also reset router to factory defaults with no change.
I can connect with ethernet cable with no problem. I've tried the "flush.bat". My network adapter is- Intel® Wifi Link 5100 AGN - I've updated the driver it says it's working.I've run all of Dell's hardware diagnostics which found no hardware issues.
I have a dell inspiron 1750, and the past couple of weeks, i have been having intermittent screen problems, it occurs when i shut the computer down and then restart it, sometimes it works, sometimes i get a bit of light off the screen but its just blank (black), i know everything works because when the windows 7 start up screen comes on, i can hear the sound and can enter my password (even though i have a blank/black screen), i did a diagnostic test and the lcd test failed, i got the error code:
Error code 0321
Msg: Error code 2000-0321
Msg: LCD EDID - Unable to access the EDID EEPROM
I just moved he screen, and it goes different colours and pixels go out of place, i think it might be a loose/bad connection on the right hinge where the laptop joins the screen?
I have an Inspiron 1750 that will not recognize the hard drive. I have done the on-board diagnostics and the preboot assessment says that no diagnostic utility partition identified. I am hoping that I just need to replace the hard drive, but I did not make a restore disc before it crashed. Which of the drivers I need to restore the computer to it's factory settings.

The power adapter usually quits lighting up, then it would light up. Today the laptop went dead and the adapter will not light up at all! Is it battery or adapter or both?

After pressing the ESC button opens a Startup Menu with a choose an actions like: f1 - system information (worked), f2 - system diagnostic (worked), f9 - boot device options (doesn't work) , f10 - BIOS setup (doesn't work), f11 - system recovery (doesn't work). View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm little worried about the data copying speed of my new dell inspiron 7520 its too slow just giving 1-2mbps on USB 3.0 and only 25-30mbps on HDD(drive to drive) data transfer.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy dell inspiron N5110 has stopped to work. It even does't start at all. BIOS has not recognize HDD. I push from laptop and connect other PC's. But still not answer. I think HDD's noise is normal some chip is crashed . I need restore some data from this HDD.
My HDD is Toshiba, 500GB, 7200RPM
I'd like to create a factory backup disk to the Dell laptop that I recently aquired (Inspiron 14). I want to save this factory backup on an external WD flash drive (that has 500GB). This disk contains, already 100GB of other personal data.
My question is: will the process of creating factory disk delete all other data on that drive (I don't want that to happend of course) or it will create the Image disk in addition to the other data the in this disk?? Dell's wizard said that the factory data requires only 9.2GB so there's plenty of space for all the data together.
I recently run into a problem, when I wanted to install my ANNO 1404 game, I inserted the disc into my laptop, but it shows no data, it simply looks to be empty. So I tried it in my desktop PC and there there is everything OK, disc is full, game can be installed. I left it be and after few days I wanted to see a movie, but after inserting the movie DVD into my laptop, I received this error in WMP: "Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. In some cases, you can resolve the problem by updating the device driver for your video card." So I'm starting to think my DVD driver is somehow "wrongly set" or something like that. What can I do about it?
My OS is W7 Professional (on desktop too, so OS is not the issue), my laptop is Inspiron 15R SE 7520. Both DVDs (game and movie) are original, no stealing here.
I'm thinking of buying a new 256GB SSD for my Windows 8 and music files, documents, steam games, etc. But I'm somewhat hesitant because I don't want to lose all of the data and reinstall games. How would I move my OS over to a SSD without losing everything on my hard drive? And is 256GB enough for these staffs?
