no WiFi access through my Wind-stream 2 wire router. [router and modem combined] Other devices both Macbook and Dell laptop are still connecting through my router so I'm pretty sure it's in the DELL Inspiron. I can see networks in the "connect to a network" box but when I try to connect to them, it brings up a box that says unable to connect to network. Most of the time the wireless status icon shows 5 unlit bars with an orange dot over them. The only suggestion from trouble shooter is reset the router by turning it off and on. No go there. I've also reset router to factory defaults with no change.
I can connect with ethernet cable with no problem. I've tried the "flush.bat". My network adapter is- Intel® Wifi Link 5100 AGN - I've updated the driver it says it's working.I've run all of Dell's hardware diagnostics which found no hardware issues.
I have a dell inspiron 1750, and the past couple of weeks, i have been having intermittent screen problems, it occurs when i shut the computer down and then restart it, sometimes it works, sometimes i get a bit of light off the screen but its just blank (black), i know everything works because when the windows 7 start up screen comes on, i can hear the sound and can enter my password (even though i have a blank/black screen), i did a diagnostic test and the lcd test failed, i got the error code:
Error code 0321
Msg: Error code 2000-0321
Msg: LCD EDID - Unable to access the EDID EEPROM
I just moved he screen, and it goes different colours and pixels go out of place, i think it might be a loose/bad connection on the right hinge where the laptop joins the screen?
The hard drive crashed on my Inspiron 1750. We purchased this laptop in 2009 with Windows 7 OS. I am trying to find a link/section on Dell site to purchase replacement Microsoft Windows 7 OS CD/DVD for my system, but so far not successful. I did not create backup OS CD/DVD when I purchased, I thought I did.

I have done the on-board diagnostics and the preboot assessment says that no diagnostic utility partition identified. I am hoping that I just need to replace the hard drive, but I did not make a restore disc before it crashed. Which of the drivers I need to restore the computer to it's factory settings.

Does anybody know if the noise is normal?
I have a Dell Inspiron 1750 laptop and it's 2 yrs old now.
For about 6 months, it was saying that my battery was reaching the end of its usable life and I needed to replace it. However, it still worked fine, I just had to keep it plugged in.
One night though, I realised when I turned it on that the message changed from that, and instead it just said "You need to replace your battery". It didn't shut down in my face or anything the same time though, I coninued to use it and when I was done I just shut it down as usual.
The next day when I tried to turn on my laptop, it wouldn't come on. I assumed that this was because the battery died, but my dad told me that if I removed the battery and plugged in the adapter it should still be able to work fine. I did try this, but it still didn't come on.
What I would like to know is if the problem is just the dead battery, or if something else is wrong... someone told me that it could be a problem with the motherboard...
I know for sure that all laptops don't work without the battery, are dell laptops like that too?
I have an old Inspiron 1750. I bought a new Dell battery and I am getting the message plugged in, not charging. I have the original DELL charger. This was not a problem with the old (not DELL) battery, which still charged but only held the charge for 10 minutes.

I don't know if you should post some kind of config summary (if yes let me know, I will do it promptly) basically I have a HP DV6t quad edition with an Intel 5 serie chipset,
PM55 express chipset (dont really know if it make any sense but still, I will just say state it) so I installed Intel Matrix Storage and when I connect the drive I can see it, but windows 7 does not see it, it's like I didn't plug anything in. [url] also my bios is almost configurable, I don't know why I can change the time, the date, the admin password, the boot order, virtualization, fan on/off that's pretty much it. so what options do I have if I want to make this dvd drive work?
I have never had an issue with using the SD slot on the front on the laptop, until now. I extracted the SD spacer to insert an adapter with micro sd and the adapter will not fully mount into the slot. I have tried just a regular SD card with the same results. The adapter has no problem being inserted or popped out. I don't see anything 'jamming' it or a foreign object in the slot, as much as I can see in the little spot.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to know how much it would cost to have my sound port / speaker port replaced on my Dell Inspiron 1750 Laptop. If you plug in speakers or a headset you have to wiggle the cord to hear anything but it keeps going out. So I'd need to send it in and have it fixed. I no longer have a warranty.

having issues with my Dell Latitude E5440. The BIOS does not recognise it, I tested the HD with a external caddy and it works fine. I messed a lot with BIOS thinking it could be a settings but had no luck.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI purchased 2 OCZ Vertex 4 512GB SSD drives from Dell and installed them. After installing them and doing some troubleshooting is seems like the 2nd HD bay is not allowing the BIOS to recognizing either of the SSDs, both of which are working(recognized by BIOS) if plugged into the 1st HD bay. It almost seems like there is just a little more gap in the connection with the 2nd HD bay connection, but that may just be me wanting to see a reason for the issue.
If either is put into HD bay 1 they are recognized fine. When either is plugged in the 2nd HD bay they are not recognized by BIOS. I have the latest BIOS (A10) for this laptop. The original setup was with 2 HDDs(trying to replace with SSD now). If I put the original HDD in Bay 2 it is fine. The little gap when the HDD is installed in bay 2 seems to be similar as the gap with the SSD in bay 2, but perhaps a very bit smaller.
I have all the updated drivers from Dell. I am just wondering if it is a connection issue that is just causing it not to be recognized
the hard drive quit. after 2 years. lucky, they are not that expensive anymore. I bought the same as the original from Amazon. After trying to install Win XP Pro, it gave me the message: no hard drive found.
Means, it does not have a partition, no format. The drive ( a Toshiba) did not come with a CD to do that. (WD usually has that utility). I did a Diagnose from the Bios, didn't work either.
Does anybody know what I have to do to make the maschine recognize the drive , how I can add a new partition onto it ?
i have a ten year old Sony Laptop w/ win98 OS. haven't run it in years and just recently started it up. the battery is long dead but it runs ok on AC it booted up and everything worked. i used the floppy and cd rom drives extensively and then decided to do a format and install Win98SE. after format and startup w/ cd rom support i found that i couldnot access the cd rom drive. i went into F2 setup and the drive is listed there, i also set the bios to the default setting but still have the same problem ..
Drive Ecd rom) Not Ready
I then checked to see if another drive letter was used for cd rom. none were !
the cd rom drive opens and closes ok. boot sequence is cdrom-floppy-HD. if i remove the startup floppy and leave the win98 disk in drive the boot stops with the message " Invalid System Disk" so- it seems the system is accessing the cd rom at this point..
Below is from trying to start win98 install in DOS

before trying to find a repacement CD drive is there any way to be sure it is the problem ? the drive was working fine before the format !
Whatever I do it does not show the hard drive - it only shows the small C drive (in the screen part).

Repair install wont work so ill just go with the Recovery install off partition. There seems to be no F10 option when booting up
Whats the magic button? I do not have the manuals or recovery discs with me at the moment
I cannot remove the underside cover even after removing all the obvious screws and so I cannot replace the hard drive
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was able to install a new: PNY Optima SSD7SC240GOPT-RB 2.5" 240GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) in my ThinkPad X220 model 4287. I installed the latest BIOS before the upgrade and did a clean install of Windows 8.1 Pro. The installed went smooth with no issues. I proceeded in installing all Drivers and utilities. Then I noticed that when I restart Windows, the BIOS does not recognize the drive and proceeds to try to boot from the Network, Intel Boot Agent. It does not seem to recognize the SSD drive.
The only way I can get it to boot from windows again is to TURN OFF using the power button and then turning it back ON. I tried the Lenovo SSD firmware update utility to see if my drive needed an update but it did not find any update for my drive. I also tried to the PNY support site and downloaded the firmware update to see if it found any updates for my drive and none where available. I hope LENOVO can release an update to their SSD firmware update tool to fix my problem. I am also not sure if any of the utilities that I installed may be the root of the problem. So right now the only way I can get Windows to load is to turn off and turn back on the laptop. Windows restarts will not work.
After installing XP media center on my inspiron 1520 i am unable to get it to recognize usb devices. I looked in the device manger at the drivers and it is missing some for the usb. I am not sure which one to download. I tried installing some and they did not work. I went to dell's site and did not find anything.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have three usb ports, and none of them seem to be working. Although the devices work on my roommate's laptop, they are not recognized on mine. When I plug my flashdrive into hers, it lights up, but that doesn't happen on mine. I recently reset my computer to factory settings to try and fix other issues including the problem with the usb ports, but the usb devices are still not recognized.
I recently sent in my laptop due to problems of it not being able to turn on, and my battery and a/c adapter were replaced. I was quite happy. However, I do not want to send it back in even though it is under warranty. Since I am a college student, I really need my laptop. If nothing works, I'll send it back in over winter break so I'm not without a laptop during my studies.
My touchscreen is also not working, so how to fix that, here is my other post: [URL] ...
recently I bought MS Industrial wifi mice. When I plug adapter to usb port on my Inspiron 5520 it says "Device not recognized" . Then I put it to another port ( I have 4) it says the same message. I plugged it to first port again, and it works.
When I put laptop to sleep or when I shut it down and when I wake/turn it on my mice doesn't work . I plug adapter out, and plug in again, the same message .... "device not recognized"
