View 10 RepliesI have a N5110, with OEM Windows 7, recently I buy Windows 8 Pro, but I cant Upgrade or Fresh install on my laptop, the installation does not complete or finish, after several restart Windows 8 bootscreen with new logo shown, but never finish, finally after 4 hours I force shutdown the system, when I restart, the system tell, installation not finished, NO ERROR message shown and automatically rollback to Windows7.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a new Inspiron 15 (5547, Early 2014), Windows 7. Within a few days, the speed of operation dropped to glacial speeds. It would take 10-15 minutes to open programs.
I've run virus and malware scans and this has not fixed the problem. I intended to then restore the system to an earlier install point, but every time I do I get a windows error "System restore did no complete successfully. Your computer's system files and settings were not changed". The text of the message indicates I shoud disable my anti-virus software, but when I disable it (MacAfee, live scan and firewall), I get the same message. I get the same message even if I restore from safe mode, with MacAfee disable. The real issue is the incredible slow operation.
Where is Boot from USB option in UEFI boot device list in Inspiron 17r SE?
Mine only shows Network in UEFI boot list?
I have tried taking the battery out, and letting pc start  w/o it, hitting the f8 key and trying each solution, System restore won't work, and each fix I read about won't work either. I hate re installing the oS, as I lose everything on my pc.Â
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Dell Inspiron 1520 does not complete booting. It start booting, then the screen go black. I am currently doing is 'diagnostic test'. This also came back with no problem, but a window popped up and asked whether I want to continue to full diagnosis. I closed YES. I hope this solves the black screen problem.
Before this problem, the battery would go flat in 20-30 min when not connected to AC source.
I know inspiron is the budget line and studio is a mainstream/productivity/higher end laptop.. but what qualifies the difference if they say had the same specs?
Build quality?
What about parts used.. Will they use some parts from one company for Inspirons and another for Studios?
Im trying to set up an ad-hoc connection to share internet between my laptop and another laptop but it will not let me turn my internet connection sharing on, when i go into adapter settings my wireless network connection has a red 'X' next to it and if I run the diagnostics its tells me 'problem with wireless adapter or access point' and I cannot connect to any wireless connections either, i have an internal Dell Wireless 1702 802.11 b/g/n on windows 7 home premium edition, All drivers are up to date and I am using a Del N7110.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI own a DELL XPS 1640 laptop here in India [See Signature for details...]...
AND, I finally gave vent to my DELL'ish' emotions and shot a mail to our very beloved Sir Michael Dell for the following issues –
•Ever falling rubber bumps/guards on the left and right sides of the keyboard
•Continues scratching on the LCD and keys imprinted on it due to 'screen rubbing against keyboard' syndrome;
•Dust behind the LCD plastic cover coating;
•The heat issue;
•And last but not the least the infamous ‘1640 Throttling’.
I got a call from a Senior Dell Marketing person today and had a lengthy half hour talk with him.
I tried pushing for replacement but since I got my DELL XPS 1640 laptop via a friend in U.S of A (I am writing in from India),
who got it delivered to me here, they say this would be possible only if the system reaches back to the starting point in USA, from where DELL can take over (Dear DELL, I really don’t have the luxury of time for all this playing around .....

a list of all the emails of the high level execs at dell, for which to send a complaint too. I think it was Mastershroom?
But anyone have that list, or at least good emails to send a lengthy complaint to?
I got my studio 1340 five days ago, and haven't check it before I format the old system,(home premium)so,after I installed vista ultimate I got two problem now.
first, the wifi switch only can turn on the lights of bluetooth, never turn on the wifi light, but wifi looks perfect when I online by my router.
under vista ultimate 64 or vista ultimate 32, I add driver as dell said: chip vedio, erthnet wireless bluetooth, sound etc ....
I was fiddling around with Geektool and looking for different ways to use it and came across an article that says how to make a To Do list that appears on your desktop. The article is here. Anyway, I can't get it to work right. Like the list appears initially but won't update when I update the txt file.
View 5 Replies View RelatedLately there have been a lot of posters just coming to the Apple forum to bash users and Apple. Since reporting them doesn't seem to be working, today I started using the ignore list. Its a little cumbersome to have to go into your user CP to do it but if it improves the experience on the site its worth it. Its a shame to have to do this but it seems to be the only way.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo the thread name tells all. Basically, I'm pretty keen on modding my current / older 2nd gen Z with a few parts that the best older gen Zs come with elsewhere around the world.
Modifications planned:
- CPU upgrade
- SSD upgrade
- Glossy Premium Carbon LCD Lid, BLACK with BRUSHED PATTERN (just the top part, not the entire bezel)
- Wireless card upgrade
- RAM upgrade
- Optical drive upgrade
- Adding a 3G card slot .....
A lot of the drivers installed by default and using the Sony Update for Vista. But at the same time, some of them are also the
32 bit drivers where you might not see any functionality from them if they even install correctly.
the link below was found on notebook review (Vista Business 64 Bit Drivers for Vaio Z) and helped me a lot get rid
of the annoying (!) marks in Device Manager......
Given the following hardware of the Sony VAIO X:
Quote:
CPU ~ 2.0-GHz Intel Atom Z550
RAM ~ 2GB-4GB (apparently you can add on another 2GB according to laptopmag)
HDD ~ 128GB SSD
NATIVE RES ~ 1366x768
GFX ~ INTEL GMA 500 w/ 762MB
OS ~ Windows 7 Premium (32-bit)
I don't own a Sony VAIO X, yet, but I would just like to compile a compatible/playable game list for future reference.
If any owners would like to confirm/deny compatibility with the games or would like to add a game, I would appreciate if you send me a PM or post here!

Or remove completely. Some of them don't even have descriptions, but bluetooth for instance I don't use, I could stop those three? Then that would leave only EIGHTY. There are so many processes running, almost all of them say 00- but I take it that doesn't mean they are not using the processor & more to my concern heating up my notebook?
Is there a list of processes somewhere I could safely stop on a vaio? For someone who is not up to the task of clean install (I read the sticky), I'm just wondering if there's anything else that could make a difference before I accept a restocking fee.
Is there a way to have an artist not appear on your list of artists on your iPod?
I have an iPod video. A bunch of random artists that I only have one song by so I'd rather not have them show up when I sort by artist.
I found C:OEMPreloadAutorunAPPeRYsetup.exe and eRY4053005ACER.cfg

Ran setup but still no driver/app list or manuals list.
When I purchased my notebook I only bought the next business day warranty can you still buy the complete care warranty if you are within the 21/30 days of purchase?
I spoke with one person at Dell they said it had to be bought at the time of purchase?
i have complete care but my 1420 is already 3 years old...is there anyway i can get dell to give me a new one or will they only fix the lid?
ive never talked to dell but maybe if im really nice they give me a new one and not just fix the lid?
iv been looking around the and everyone says dell will only cover damage and not theft
this is quite worrying as i ordered a m6400 maxed out and its just to much to lose out on
I've had a ton of problems with this one in the past, from a cracked case (still cracked) to a dvd drive that doesn't work (dell didn't do anything, I didn't stay on them,) to a bunch of other problems.
Any way to get them to just replace it? I've had it for ~2 years, with another year left on my warranty.
I have been getting pissed with my Dell XPS M1530 a bunch lately because a good amount of things have been going wrong with it. I have mad multiple parts replaced.
I think that my hard drive is now going dead. And I can not get a non buggy trackpad for it. I have been getting so pissed ive been thinking of selling it and getting a Macbook.
I have a Complete Care warranty which means they will replace anything for free. do you guys think that if I complained enough, and tried to convince them enough, that they would replace my laptop in whole? I am guessing they probably wouldn't, since I have had it for almost a year, but it would be worth a try. The only thing is that they no longer offer the hi def lcd that I have in it.
My laptop is screwed, dell's repaired it a bunch of times. How much damage has to be done to just get a new one?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI used to have the ATI Radeon Pro 9800+ in it. The new 1520 has the integrated graphics. I know that sucks. I've requested consideration for a new graphics controller from Dell. If they don't give me one through support, how can I order the 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8600M GT? I can't find a Dell part number or a listing of it on the website at all!
The 1520 has a Core 2 Duo T7300 processor (2.0 Ghz). My old machine had an Intel P4 3.2G processor. Will the new processor be as fast as my old one for games?
What's the best strategy to potentially get Dell to be sympathetic that I bought the laptop for a game machine, and the fact that an integrated graphics controller does bumpkiss for games?
Is there a big advantage to getting the complete care warrenty over the standard warrenty.
Im not worried that I am going to spill something or drop my laptop so I dont think the complete care is worth it, but I wouldnt mind some feed back from people who have had first hand experience.
