The fan in my Studio 1555 keeps going off very often. So I switched from a T9550 to a P8400 and the problem still exists. Will downgrading my current BIOS (A06) to a previous version be harmful?

Ok i receive a laptop Dell Inspiron 9300 from a friend who has dropped it (well he says the kid knocked it off the couch and then to add insult to injury he followed it over and landed on it) well needless to say i diagnosed that the motherboard had failed as i ran the system from a barbones state to rule out any hardware failures. So i ordered a replacement board from the big old bad Ebay guy that hangs around the internet...So i rebuild the laptop plug it all in and turn it on.. so far so good i see the Dell logo and select to enter the bios to which i see "entering setup"... now instead of going into the setup i receive only this...
"The ac power adapter cannot be determined. The system can only boot with a 130w power adapter or greater" .....
I would like to downgrade my bios from 2.15 to 1.X.
The reasons why is because of UEFI mode and I need an unlocked bios so I can turn on my fans earlier en downclock my GPU. Why. Well. My laptop overheats to much in Ubuntu if I use my GPU(710M). How to downgrade the BIOS without change of bricking my laptop I would like hear it.
My laptop is a V3-571G with I7 3612QM, Nvidia 710M, 8 GB ram and Non-glare 15,6 fullhd.
After installing the 1.15 version of BIOS my FAN is working almost constantly. Is it any way to downgrade back to version 1.13? Will, f.e., complete reset to factory settings work?

I noticed that I have a choice to downgrade to windows XP which I am extremely familiar and happy with. Im not familiar that much with Vista and I am concerned with all the complaints I hear.
I definitely expect to upgrade to Windows 7 when available in the winter.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a Inspiron 17R SE. Nice machine with 4 USB 3.0 ports. That sounds great but that is also my problem. I am used to work with VMWare on Windows 7 as host OS and XP as guest OS. That is fine as long as there are USB 2.0 ports available since VMWare can only handle USB 3.0 under Windows 7 if it is based on a NEC chipset. I would not have a problem if the machine had USB 2.0 ports.

I'm getting headaches from my 1680 x 1050 display, it's a matte finish and has a very narrow viewing angle.
I run it at 1280 x 768 for best size and aspect, but it's then a bit fuzzy, too. Is it a reasonable change to go to a 1280 x 800 high-gloss display to get crisp text and wide viewing angle?
I have tried to install XP on a new hard drive in my XPS 1530, but it seems to not finish the install. I've changed the controller to ATA so that XP can see the HDD.
I've even tried to install Linux, but it will freeze during setup. Can someone help me please. This is a clean install, so I don't need any dual-boot instructions.

to downgrade to xp. Everything seems fine. I downloaded the drivers and everything. but the thing is that it's EXTREMELY!!!! s...l.....o.....w. it's even slower than those old computers I dont know what the problem is. Is it something I did in the BIOS?

View 4 Replies View Relatedi have everything except the audio working properly. after installing all the drivers i can find i end up with a second hd audio driver with the yellow question mark and no driver i try will install to fix it. i start with 2 hd audio drivers the conextant fixes one of them and the modem one is also installed.. what the heck is the other one for? i did use the microsoft one first then the hotfix for sp3 then the conextant and no matter what that extra one will not go away.. also no audio will play in media player or startup sounds etc..

I want to downgrade it to xp, but when i put the a oem xp cd in while the system is booting up it preloads all the xp files but then get a blue screen with error 0x0000007b. How can I get a xp cd that will support this laptop?
I know you can use nlite to make a custom xp cd but I cant seem to find the right drivers to do so. I seen some people add slipstream drivers for aspires but this is different.
