Dell :: Fedex Driver Might Have Stolen My Studio 15
Jul 23, 2009
On my fedex tracking page it says my laptop got delivered but i never signed for it and the driver is saying someone at my house did. I called fedex and said they will have their security looking at it.
I got a box from Fed Ex and I sent it for repair to Texas, I've been checking on the status of the package every now and then, now it says "Package returned to shipper", do you guys know what that means?
It says it was delivered today at 9AM and then returned to shipper at 10AM, I hope and really really hope that is not a shippers or address problem.
Has anyone any recommendations on which driver to use on the studio xps 13. I tried to play fallout 3 with EVERYTHING turned off and set to the lowest resolution and it plays sooo slow.
I had a macbook 2ghz with a geforce 9400 card before I went to the XPS and still managed to play it at 1280x800 on medium settings.
I checked out a few reviews of the card and playing at these settings is way achievable but it seems like im having a driver issue?
Since a lot of people will be moving to Windows 7 this weekend with Technet & MSDN now available, I thought it would be good to share experiences relating to drivers and what is or isn't needed.
What drivers, if any, will be necessary to load that aren't included in the normal Win7 setup?
Is a Win7 driver available from Dell at this point or does the corresponding Vista driver work perfectly?
I have a Dell Studio 17, with vista. I want to be able to dual boot with XP, but am needing a raid driver.
I have installed XP on a partition on the hard drive but if I want to boot up XP I have to change the option in the bios, which does get a bit of a pain.
I just got my studio 15 1558 laptop with win7 home basic... son I changed it to win 7 prof. SO, I was installing all the drivers from CD and i was all OK but NETWORK is now ...
Dell is offering driver version 8.631.0.0000 (A09) for the mobility radeon 4570HD on their site.
I'm currently running modded catalyst 9.9 and the current driver installed is 8.632.1.2000.
Any reason I should use the Dell driver in this case or should I just keep on using the modded AMD one (which will probably be updated on a more regular basis)?
just wondering if a driver exists, and if so, where to get it? I am a bit of a newb to mac and have looked around and found nothing related to my problem (resolution stuck at 1024 X768
Recently I've had this issue where the sound driver dies, usually freezing any sound-using programs with it. For example, if I view a Flash video on Firefox or IE8, the flash plugin causes kills the sound driver and the browser locks up. Skype will kill the sound driver too.
So will plugging in my USB microphone or sometimes my HDMI cable to my TV (I watch instant Netflix on it).
Once the sound driver crashes, I can't get any sound from programs like Winamp and even the Windows logoff has to be bypassed because it can't play the logoff sound. The internet is all but unusable unless I disable flash (because any flash page will crash it)
I recieved my XPS Studio 1340 a couple of days ago and I've benchmarked it against a couple of games and applications. My specs are as follows:
P8600 2.4ghz 3GB DDR3 320GB 7200rpm WLED WXGA 256mb 9500M G 6 cell Bluetooth Vista Home Premium 64-bit
General Performance
WPrime 32M: 32.666s
SuperPi 1.5 1M: 21.747s
HD Tune
9400M G vs. 9500M G (9400M G + 9200M GS)
Forceware 176.89 (default) vs. 179.48 (12/2/09)
Conclusion For the love of god, upgrade your drivers.
Upgrading from the default drivers that ship with the laptop, to the latest Nvidia drivers gives extreme performance benefits in a couple of games. I think the largest benefits would be seen in newer games, since they're the ones which would recieve all the optimisations.
Note: By default I couldn't get the 179.48 drivers to install. I had to use a hacked INF to install it. YMMV, I haven't done extensive testing to see if it's safe to keep the 179.48 drivers permanently installed.
I'm currently running on the 178.75 drivers that can get gotten from Dell for Vista x64, and these drivers seem stable. I'll do a little more testing to see if these drivers yield the same performance increase as 179.48 does.
A month ago I bought Studio 1737 with ATI Radeon HD 3650 video card. From the very first day there was a problem with video driver or hardware.
Each day (sometimes 2-3 times a day) I get the following message:
"Display driver has stopped responding and has recovered. Display driver igfx has stopped responding and has successfully recovered."
The display starts blinking for 3-5 seconds and after that it works fine again or crashes to blue screen with IRQL_NOT_LEFF_R_EQUAL. If it crashes to blue screen it will work find after rebooting.
Most of the time I use the laptop with the external monitor connected (I use it as extended desktop). And I think the problem might be related to the use of the external monitor. I tested 3 different monitors (Acer, Dell and ViewSonic) and it happened with each of those. So I know for sure that the problem is not with the monitor itself. In the same time it crashed only once when I used it without external monitor connected.
After trying everything by myself (re-installing video drivers, updating bios and even reinstalling viste) I called Dell. They asked me to do some things but couldn't figure out the problem. Then they asked to run a diagnostic test and it found Error Code 5300:1028. When I reported that code to Dell tech specialist he said I need to send the notebook for repair/exchange since that code means there is a hardware issue with video card. They agreed to send me another laptop. So I've been using the first one I got for about 2 week and each day it crashed.
A week ago I received the new laptop. It's almost the same configuration. Before setting the new laptop up I decided to run the same Diagnostic test and it showed the same error!!! I called Dell right away and they said it might not be a problem and asked me to use new laptop and see how it works. First day I didn't have an external monitor and everything worked fine. The next day I connected the second monitor and the system crashed just in couple hours. The same happens almost each day. But this one usually just shows the the "Display driver stopped responding..." message and doesn't crashes to blue screen. Anyway the problem exists.
Last week I've been contacting Dell each day. They didn't find any problem but keep saying it's a problem with drivers. They offered to send laptop to them for testing but I can't do so because I need the laptop for each day working.
to find the latest video drivers for my ati radeon hd 3450 graphic card for windows xp.i am using laptop dell studio 15. as dell does not support windows xp so i am not able to find drivers for my graphic card.plz somebody post the link for the same.
Has anyone been able to get their Ethernet Controller to work on the Studio 17? I have the wireless working, but the Ethernet Controller will not load any drivers, automatic or manual. I have searched Intel's site and downloaded every 64 bit driver from Dell's Studio 17 download page.
I have got a Studio 1535 (the 1537 has the same devices/drivers) and I have just installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit RTM.
I have got the same problem I had with the RC. After 7 installation I ran Windows Update but I have a device which is not recognised: "Unknown device on Intel(R) ICH8M LPC Interface Controller". I installed the latest Intel Chipset/Matrix Storage Manager/Wireless drivers but... no way!
The Intel(R) ICH8M LPC Interface Controller has its driver, as you can see in the screenshot (red arrow).
The latest drivers and software packages are for Windows 7 x64 only. They are the absolute latest versions and many aren't even listed on Dell's driver page. There are some hardware items not covered here which you can find updates for at http://support.dell.com/
FYI Dell released a new video driver for the studio laptops today. It said it increases compatibility with external monitors. I wouldn't know since I've never hookem mine up to an external. But I will dl just to stay up to date. You can find it here:
On a clean install of Windows 7 x64 RTM the latest driver available from Dell support (v6.10.0.6162, A14) seems to crash at random intervals. Only a reboot fixes the problem. It makes running the IDT drivers almost impossible but there are some features such as analogue 5.1 which I can't do without.
I'm looking for a decent Alps Touchpad Windows 7 X86 Driver. I installed the 7.102.101.224 available in the 1737 download page but it doesn't work fine...
I tried the latest Synaptics but it doesn't work at all...
