I bought a Dell Inspiron almost 2 years ago. I hardly ever use it.
I bought a slip case for it by Dicota, in which it just sits on my desk most of the time and ocasionally gets used when I travel (which is rare)
I opted for the Sunburst Yellow option. This actually turned out to be more a lemon yellow colour but I didn't complain or send it back because I needed it.
My 1647 came in yesterday. I was pumped to finally have it.
As soon as I pulled up IE I noticed a very distinct yellow tint to every color displayed on the screen. This is very annoying and I'm not getting used to it at all. The difference between this display and my Mac Book Pro is unbelievable. The colors on the MacBook are better in every way. I'm very disappointed in the display. I had hoped it was going to blow me away, but instead I'm very underwhelmed.
Has anyone else noticed this on their RGBLED display? I've seen it mentioned on other models on this forum, but no mention on other 1645/1647's.
My D630 screen is losing it color the whites look yellowish no matter how hard I try to adjust it. The unit was bought from Dell
new and still has about 5 months on the basic warranty. Is screen replacement covered for this problem?
I noticed a thin yellow line (about 1 pixel wide) on my LCD panel running the entire length vertically (I originally wrote horizontally) about 1 centimeter from the far right side.
The line is only noticeable against a colored background and is invisible against white.
I've just had a look at device manager and noticed there's an exclamation mark next to the dvd drive, I havn't used the drive for about a week so I'm unsure when the problem occurred.
I uninstalled it from device manger after downloading the driver from dells website but when the app runs it says 'drive not found' so I'm unable to reinstall the driver.
I've ran a live linux cd which worked fine so it must be a windows thing?
I've also refitted the drive to make sure it hadn't come loose.
I am having 15 R 5521 I plugged in my charger. But seems it was not working. There was no yellow indicator on charger. I ran the diagnostic run test. It showed me result as PASS all the test. On the same switch I plugged my mobile charger and the same was getting charged.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have successfully completed a fresh install of Win XP Pro on by laptop and the final driver that just will not install is the Intel Chipset driver. I have downloaded the latest driver from Dells website using my laptop tag to get the correct drivers.
In device manager I have a yellow exclamation mark against SM Bus controller. However, when I install the chipset driver at the very end, the install says 'error, install will now end', then you click close and then it wants to reboot. SM Bus controller remains with an exclamation mark in the device manager.

I think everyone with a 2010 MBP should run those tests and read through that thread. Some people are probably being too critical, while others have real problems (complete with photos).
i've been playing far cry 2 for 4 hours. i shut down the game, my temp is 79-80 degrees celcius which is perfectly normal when gaming on the macbook pro. i don't know why i wanted to look through the vents. i turn my laptop and look through. i saw this yellow light. its approximately under the R and F keys on the keyboard. i turn my laptop and look closely on the keyboard and it's illuminated white. no sign of the yellow light. Thus, to resume, i saw it only when looking through the vents. does anybody know what is this light? what is causing it to light up? i smelled closely but no burning smell. in fact, i cant smell any weird odour. is it harmful for my macbook pro?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Latitude E6510. I recently bought an off-brand replacement battery to replace my two year old battery that came with the laptop. The new one is a 12 cell battery whereas the old one is a 6 cell battery. I put the battery in just fine and it booted up perfectly. Its weird because on the bottom right of the monitor, it says there is no battery detected and yet I am able to run my laptop without having the power cord plugged in. I have uninstalled the battery drivers and that did not fix it. I am currently letting my battery die in hopes that will fix it.

Also, upon plugging the new battery in, no matter what I do, whether it be charge it with the power cord or let it run off the battery, the battery icon on the hardware of my computer blinks yellow/orange 4 times and then blue once and keeps repeating that.

I managed to make everything work just fine, except bluetooth radio. I downloaded original driver from Dell support page and installed it, but device manager shows "Generic bluetooth device" with a little yellow exclamation mark. when i go to the properties of the device, it says "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)". i tried a lots of things but none worked. then finally i tried to uninstall driver, and found out that uninstaller throws error: "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." i'm running win7 enterprise x64 ....
View 15 Replies View RelatedI bought a new ProBook 4530s less than 2 weeks ago. It is running Windows 7 64 bit. I was using it today on battery power when it shut down unexpectedly. Apparently the battery was low. I was listening to music and did not hear any low battery warning. Certainly, there was no popup message. I plugged in the charger and restarted the computer. Now I see an icon on the bottom right of the screen that apparently means No Battery is Detected.
The yellow light on the left side of the laptop next to the power cord is flashing. I did some research online and tried removing and replacing the battery several times. No change. Originally, I was unable to start the computer from the battery at all. Now I find that I have enough power that I can start from the battery, so it must be getting some power in spite of the icon. I have now restarted several times, plugged in and on battery. I always get the No Battery message and the flashing yellow light.
I have looked at Device Manager, and it says that the battery is fine.
My Yoga 2 pro bought couple of days back doesn't show yellow properly. I tried to install the BIOS as suggested to fix the issue but got an installation error due to older rom file. This could be because I may already have latest BIOS version.

It can connect to my WiFi network, however after using the internet for a few minutes, it consistently gets the yellow "!" over the wifi icon in the task bar and says no internet connection and I loose my connection. I know it is an issue with THIS laptop since my old and decrepit HP laptop which sits next to it works perfectly fine using the same network, as well as my smartphone and room mate's devices.
I have downloaded the Lenovo update software and attempted to use it. I get a message saying something along the lines of no available packages, assuming that means everything is up to date in terms of drivers.
I have done some research with the terms "lenovo, g570, wifi, internet, problems, connection" and yield many pages, however none have seem to provide a solution that works for me.
I have an ideapad z500 which I'm happy for, but it annoys me that when 'm at my college I can't properly connect to the wi-fi the school has. When I connect, I'm on for usually about half an hour, but then I get the "limited connection" yellow triangle and I have to deactivate the networkcard before I can get a normal connection.
Other times I simply just can't connect, it tries but it fails. When it does, I have to reboot the computer before it succeeds, and that's no good when you are working on a project. At home i have no problems, it works nicely.
Also, how to enable the WiDi on the z500.

I just got my hands a Studio 15 with great specs at the cheap, but with a pretty badly scratched up LCD lid. Has anyone attempted replacing the lid? Is it hard? I've opened up and replaced a processor, keyboard, fingerprint reader, ram, and hard drive before, but never an LCD cover. I'm kinda worried about the power button and wifi catcher, and I'm worrying I may not put the screen back the right way. This is supposed to be for my cousin, but I can't give it this badly scratched up.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI mentioned previously that I didn't care for the smudges on the glossy black cover of the mini. So I ordered a spare LCD cover to save in case I want to revert back to stock, and took my mini apart tonight to paint the cover.
See the attachments.... one is a good example of the smudges.
right now I have the mini COMPLETELY apart!
I was going to paint the cover a red wrinkle finish, but have decided at the last minute to use a red rubberized coating instead. I guess this is similar to what the larger inspirons feel like.
Anyway, second coat is about to go on, I'll post pictures of it when it's done.

this is quite worrying as i ordered a m6400 maxed out and its just to much to lose out on
anyone at all been able to light up the cover lights (just one of the colors even) for those who have done the 9400/E1705 to M1710 mods? I would really like to know how this can be done if there are some theories out there. Please refrain from saying how much you hate the lights or asking why I would care to do this :
Some methods I thought about trying:
USB port: 5V ok, will that work with the cover LEDs?
Fan port: I have heard this one might not work but can anyone confirm?
(I am talking about cutting off the connector that would originally go into the M1710 mobo and trying various things with the wires that happen to be color coded, 2 for each color of LED apparently.)
I had my pavilion zv5000 upgraded from windows xp to windows 7 but the thing that is wrong about it is that it says no driver flies are required or had been loaded to this device. And their is a yellow exclamation point on the base system
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy acer travelmate P645m internet connection is quite bad. It happens quite frequent as well.
When I connect my laptop to wi-fi (my own router and in the library), it always has a yellow triangle exclamation mark all of a sudden. As my phone connects to those wi-fi too, I have checked the internet is still working fine when it happens on my laptop, so I am sure it is my laptop that doesn't connect to the wi-fi stably. I will have to turn off the wi-fi and turn it on again to make sure it has access to the internet.
I know it is not a complicated process of turning off and on the wi-fi on my laptop but because I just bought the laptop two months ago, if there is any hardware problem, I would like to fix it within my warranty. Why the internet connection on my laptop is so poor?
One of the rubber grips on the palm rest of my Studio XPS 13 has fallen off, so Dell is sending a service technician to replace the entire palm rest assembly.
Does the warranty cover both replacement and service charges? Am I expected to pay anything?
I have a XPS M1530, And the screen doesn't go off when I close my laptop. I have contacted dell about it. They replaced the mobo, the LCD Screen, the Palm rest. And it still doesn't go off... I'm wonder what it can be...

I've noticed people with macs that hace sweet looking covers but I haven't found any for my Dell, do you guys know any web page that sells them?
