i tuned off all and it fixed but the again the same problem
what can be happening this is a new device...
My Inspiron 13 7000 2-in-1 laptop, after having the screen and hinges replaced due to other problems (ghost touches), now won't auto rotate the screen when in tablet mode. The keyboard is also functional when the screen is pushed back past 90 degrees, so when the keyboard is on my laptop but the screen is facing me. This doesn't happen in true tablet mode however.I've tried reinstalling all of the up-to-date drivers; chipset, BIOS, along with the ST Microelectronics 3-Axis Digital Accelerometer Driver.
There are a number of issues I can highlight that stop this from working;
1) in device manager there is no entry for ST Microelectronics 3-Axis Digital Accelerometer Driver, nor Accelerometer or anything I presume makes this function work. There is a Sensors collection, but nothing in there I think is it,. There is also no 'Unknown' device listed.
2) I should see PopUp_DM.exe in the running services and in the startup selection of programs. This is nowhere to be seen.
3) I don't appear to have a "Sensors" applet
4) when I choose 'Normal Startup' in msconfig & then reboot, it goes back to the bottom option, Selective startup. Is this something I need to do via the Dell BIOS Advanced Options?
Other than doing a full restore, which I loathe to do again as already prompted by Dell previous to this issue, what can I do? A bit worried that when Dell replaced my screen they didn't refit or include the accelerometer!
How to turn on the backlit keyboard feature. There is a button (f10) which is supposed to turn it on, but when I press it nothing happens.
View 10 Replies View RelatedThis week I took delivery of an Inspiron 7000 laptop for my daughter, and some of the keyboard symbols are typing incorrectly. EG when hitting the " key she get the @ symbol, the @ symbol is giving the british pound symbol, and maybe one or two others are incorrect (I am at work at present and don't have the laptop with me to give all the wrong keys).
View 2 Replies View RelatedAs the title says, there is no driver available for the keyboard/touchpad on this laptop. There is no way to adjust the current touchpad settings. I've followed all the troubleshooting steps for Windows 8.1, but this model simply lacks a Dell Touchpad interface or any settings to change gestures or scrolling speeds and sensitivity. None of the usual gestures even work, not even pinch-zoom.
This wouldn't be a big deal if there were a driver available to fix the issue, but there isn't - this model does not have a input driver available at all. All that is provided is an ancient Mouse Properties thing that seems designed for a wired mouse and some ETDWare SmartTouch thing that does nothing at all as far as I can tell. The literature for this model claims that the laptop has " a roomy, gesture-enabled precision touchpad, [which can] zoom, click and point with impressive accuracy and speed." Well the gestures consist of two finger scrolling and nothing else, and there is no zoom, not to mention any other gestures, and accuracy and speed tend to rely on users tweaking things to their own unique preferences (impossible as it is).
All this is to say, is Dell working on getting an input driver for this model? Is there an update in the works? Is there some other method available to remedy this unfortunate failing of an otherwise pretty nice machine? If I don't hear back in a week or so, I'm just going to return this and buy a different brand.
My dell laptop can't turn on. When I press power button, there have no activity. I see Num lock LED is OFF, Caps Lock LED is ON and Scroll lock is always blinking. LCD screen not display anything.
Here is the screenshot of my LED blinking.
1. I dissemble my laptop and remove unnecessary components and cable. I have tested and connected only with Motherboard , CPU and RAM.
2. I tried to replace with new RAM. But it can't solve problem.
3. I tried to remove Battery, only AC power can't solve problem.
4. I tried to replace new CMOS battery. But it can't.
I have a Dell Inspiron 7000 series and 2 days ago Windows installed a critical update which stopped my keyboard and mouse working, I have had to do a system restore to get it working again but with it being a critical update I'm assuming I will need it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe keyboard on my HP Pavilion g6 is locked. It was working and then my cat ran across the keyboard and must have hit a key that locked it. The mouse pad works. No cap lock or number lock on. I have already tryed:
1) going in control panel and unchecking everything in make keyboard easier to use.
2) Took the battery out for a few minutes.
3) have rebooted computer may times.
Although great when you're on walkabout with your laptop, when I'm at home, laptop plugged in, I don't want my laptop to keep reverting to a login screen every few minutes.
I'm on a Thinkpad E520 running Windows 64 bit Professional. Here's what I tried so far without success:
1) Control Panel --> Power Options --> I set everything to "max performance" and disabled display sleep-mode timers.
2) Control Panel --> Lenovo - Camera-enhanced security --> I turned off camera recognition features and related timers.
3) Control Pannel --> Lenovo Power Manager --> I turned off all timers.
Turning off options in the above control panel areas does not seem to affect the auto-protect feature. This auto lock down feature is driving me nuts at home, the only consolation being that the fingerprint scanner makes it a little easier to get back in once the laptop goes down. It's like some terrible screen saver you hate that can't be turned off.
How is this auto lockdown feature turned off? Ideally there should be a big button available in the taskbar which you can push: on - off. That way you can easily turn timer suites on and off with a single action.
But as of yet, I can't find anything in the control panel or taskbar that turns off this auto lock down feature.
There is a major issue here with Dell's Touchpad drivers, they simply do not work. Anytime I try to use the Touchpad the mouse goes flying all over the place and is completely useless. Whenever the screen is folded back into tablet mode--they keyboard will not lock.
Have been on phone with Dell for hours on this with no resolve. There are a lot of people complaining about the same thing, Dell doesn't see to understand this.
I have an inspiron 9400 that has been having some issues lately. As of right now, when I push the power button, the power light comes on but it does not boot or even post. The Num lock stays on and the caps lock and scroll lock lights blink for about 40 seconds then the whole thing shuts off. what those blinking lights mean. I have search dell support but have found nothing.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just updated my HP Envy 15t-3000 to Windows 8.1. The first thing I noticed is that all non-Windows programs (Chrome, Digsby, etc) are all gainy. The graphics card installed on my laptop is a ATI Radeon HD 7690M switchable with Intel HD Graphics 3000.
I had the latest HP drivers installed when I had Windows 8 (version 9.0.0.0 for both gpus). The auto driver detecter on the ATI did not work (incompatible hardware). The latest ATI beta drivers made it worse (largest resolution is 720p). Using Windows to update the drivers (both are above 9.0.0.0) caused a driver crash (exclimation mark next to the display adapter in Device Manager). Will HP release official Windows 8.1 drivers for this laptop?
Dell n1510 - receive error 24 ... I have run all updates, tried an older driver and re-installed the latest drivers, without success.
Unable to test keyboard by pressing f8 at start-up to get to a command prompt. also unable to press f6 to enable keyboard.
In windows mobility center, the 'turn on' button for the touch pad is grayed out. Is it possible that the keyboard/touch pad connections are not plugged in tightly? i don't want to to open up the laptop unless that is a good option...
Whenever i'm using the key board, I can't use my mousepad at the same time. For example: if i'm holding the space bar, my mouse jams and no matter what i'm doing to the mouse pad, I can't move the mouse for as long as I hold a button. This presents major problems for gaming etcetera. I am using A dell N5050.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have installed a clean Windows 8.1 on the Helix and have several issues. Putting them into several threads so they can be answered independently. The first thing I did after installing the system (and critical Windows Updates) was running the Lenovo System Update tool and downloading everything.
Screen rotation does not work. In “Device Manager” I can see “C5621 gw Mobile Broadband Geolocation Sensor” and “Hid Sensor Collection”. The HID one has an exclamation mark next to it. Are there some drivers I need to download to make this work. I did of course check if screen rotation is not locked – it is not (I did turn it on/off a couple of times, without any effect). Manual rotation (using display settings) works fine.
I bought the Aspire R13 just 2 days ago, but the screen visualization doesn't automatically orientate when I rotate the display. I checked the auto rotation on the screen properties and it is on.
The auto rotation was the main reason to choose this new laptop....Could be the sensors do not work properly?
I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 - random keys on my keyboard no longer work,it out of warranty.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just had a new motherboard installed in my E1505 under warranty by a Dell Tech. They sent a new hard drive with it, with Windows XP already installed. I also still have my original hard drive. After the motherboard finished installing, my Standby no longer works...
actually it goes into Standby, but immediately wakes up, without me touching a single thing. Also, I can't lock my computer by pushing the Windows logo + L. Using that shortcut actually logs me off the user. I tried this with both the new hard drive and the old original one. Both of these things worked fine with my old motherboard.
I did a clean install of XP on the new hard drive, and still it doesn't work. So far the Dell tech that I've been talking with online and on the phone doesn't have the answer. I've been talking to him for several days now
my CS.
sony tech did a repair on my laptop and when he was done, a piece of the trim wasn't flush near the LCD hinge. To fix this, I put a drop of krazy glue under the hinge (it snaps off) on the panel above the keyboard and was able to fix the problem cleanly.
The problem is, I noticed my caps lock light no longer turns on. I have no clue when this could have happened, since it was under a couple repairs before. But, my worry is my warranty. Do you think they'll complain about replacing it if they see I had to glue a piece together? On the other hand, the light module screws into this panel so, technically they don't need to replace this panel, just the light module.
I just installed XP throught bootcamp on my macbook (black book, the one that was available right before the aluminum ones).
I have two problems.
1. My Apple wireless keyboard does not work.
2. My wireless keyboard does not work when I plug it into my macbook.
All, I am having a major problem with VMWare and the W530 "Num Lock". When I move the cursor into the VMWare window a message comes on say "NUM LOCK: ON" when I move it out of the VMWare window I see message "NUM LOCK: OFF". I do not have any key on the keyboard to disable Num Lock. There are utilities I can run in the SUSE VMWare image to capture the key binding and remap, but I do not have anyway of turning Num Lock on or off to capture the key binding.

If I press f2 early during what should be the post testing it says "entering setup" at the bottom of the screen. It hangs right there and goes no further.
I've pulled the hd, cd/floppy, battery, tried everthing suggested from another user I found who had the exact same problem.

I've tried to boot several different ways. It always hangs there at the 'entering setup' - won't boot from floppy or cd.

Is there anyway to "reset" the bios when bios itself cannot be loaded?
I have created a set of "System Recovery" (Reinstall Disk) DVD's for my inspiron 15 7000 laptop.I removed the traditional Sata HD from the laptop and installed Samsung Evo 840 SSD. Connected an external DVD drive and booted using the System Recovery Disk 1.
The files started loading but after half were loaded gave error of something like 0x8xxxxxx and asked to reboot. The same error occurred after another reboot. The Recovery Disk are fine as i have verified them using dell backup software. Also is it possible to create Dell Recovery partition (O/S and drivers e.t.c) somehow on the new SSD if i install Windows 8 using the OEM disk straight away?
I recently bought this 2-in-1 and I love it but when using the keypad the cursor freezes temporarily in between actions so I have to resort to touch to continue. There's a lag of a few seconds (10) that is frustrating when I want to use the device as a laptop. The touchpad becomes unresponsive and I have to wait or use touch to continue...
Can this be altered in Settings or is it a bug?
My 2013 Inspiron tended to come out of hibernation either quite slowly , taking 20 to 30 seconds to get to the log-in screen, or crash altogether (not every time, but every 2 or 3 wake-ups) which required a hardware reboot.. After doing some research, I found some information. It appears there may be some conflict between BIOS settings and Windows (8.1 in my case).
I checked BIOS settings and the only thing I found was that Intel's Rapid Start Technology was enabled. So I turned it off and rebooted. Turns out, the Rapid Start actually delayed the boot process: my computer boots MUCH faster now (about half the time from before) in the full boot process, it comes out of hibernation almost instantaneously (as I would expect from a system with i7 processor, 16 GB Ram and SSD) and it has not yet crashed when coming out hibernation.
Just got the 1920 x 1080 version of the 13" inspiron. The left and right edges (about 5-10% and not top or bottom) of the screen are about half as bright as the rest of screen. Also on closer inspection I've noticed that on the left hand side, the middle part of the rubber edge is squashed in. Is this pretty much normal for these laptops? I'll see if my camera can capture these details.

The router (UPC TC 7200 U) is set to 5 GHz on Channel 40 with n-standard and delivers a strong signal on all other devices that are connected.According to the product description the Inspiron 7000 should have no problems finding this network as it has a dual-band wifi card. The issue also doesn't lie with the router as other new devices that I brought to my home can find and connect to the network without any problems.I downloaded and installed the current intel and dell drivers for the wifi card; still I cannot find the 5GHz network on my new dell.
