Not sure if this is a defect on my machine but the backlit keyboard refuses to turn off. I tried the fn + spcbar and no luck. The light just blinks for a split second and stays on.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a new Dell Inspiron 13 7000 series laptop. I'm not sure if this is something I accidentally turned on, but I cannot figure out how to turn it off: Whenever I turn on the computer, the default voice speaks the time and date. It also speaks the time on the hour when the computer is on. I cannot figure out how to turn off the voice. I checked the Ease of Access settings and have verified that the Narrator is OFF. How to turn off the voice that reads the time?
View 4 Replies View RelatedThis week I took delivery of an Inspiron 7000 laptop for my daughter, and some of the keyboard symbols are typing incorrectly. EG when hitting the " key she get the @ symbol, the @ symbol is giving the british pound symbol, and maybe one or two others are incorrect (I am at work at present and don't have the laptop with me to give all the wrong keys).

View 9 Replies View RelatedAs the title says, there is no driver available for the keyboard/touchpad on this laptop. There is no way to adjust the current touchpad settings. I've followed all the troubleshooting steps for Windows 8.1, but this model simply lacks a Dell Touchpad interface or any settings to change gestures or scrolling speeds and sensitivity. None of the usual gestures even work, not even pinch-zoom.
This wouldn't be a big deal if there were a driver available to fix the issue, but there isn't - this model does not have a input driver available at all. All that is provided is an ancient Mouse Properties thing that seems designed for a wired mouse and some ETDWare SmartTouch thing that does nothing at all as far as I can tell. The literature for this model claims that the laptop has " a roomy, gesture-enabled precision touchpad, [which can] zoom, click and point with impressive accuracy and speed." Well the gestures consist of two finger scrolling and nothing else, and there is no zoom, not to mention any other gestures, and accuracy and speed tend to rely on users tweaking things to their own unique preferences (impossible as it is).
All this is to say, is Dell working on getting an input driver for this model? Is there an update in the works? Is there some other method available to remedy this unfortunate failing of an otherwise pretty nice machine? If I don't hear back in a week or so, I'm just going to return this and buy a different brand.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy employer had purchased me an Inspiron 1545 last month. I unfortunately had no choice in the model or options and I was hoping for a model with a backlit keyboard but did not receive one.
Now my question, is it possible to put the backlit keyboard from a studio in my inspiron?
Or is there a button I can press to turn it off/on? It was one of the main reasons I purchased it.

I just recently purchased a 17r 2nd gen and I lovethe performance and style but I just wish it had a backlit keyboard, knowing itwas not in the customization features I was wondering if I could purchase a XPS17 (L702X) and replace my default keyboard. I just know if the motherboard hasthe same connection and if the LED’s would work.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI bought a E520. I am not liking the touchpad on this thing. It hangs up and does not respond a lot of times.
The biggest thing that irks me is that my screen will zoom in and out when I run my finger along the touchpad or when tapping it. I know you can use the "pinch" with two fingers to zoom in and out but mine will zoom with just a tap of one finger.
How to disable the zoom feature. There must be a way in settings to turn that off. I just want the touchpad to work normally, as in move the cursor around.. thats it, nothing more.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI got a Dell Studio 1737 through the Dell Outlet, and after a little while the Num Lock light stopped working. The button still turns it on and off, and I've been debating calling and having to deal with them to get a replacement. Another option I've been thinking about is replacing it outright with the backlit keyboard.
My question is this. What will doing this outside of Dell do to the warranty? The Caps Lock light does still come on, so I'm thinking it's an issue with the light, and if I have to replace it, I might as well go with the better one.
does anyone know if you can change the colors of the keyboard light like you can on alienware laptops? ive been wondering this since ive only seen the backlit keyboard in white, and i was hoping to maybe switch the color to that of my lappy? i think that would be awsome to see on a studio.
