I've looked for a solution at community.dell.com/support-forums: - pressing Fn+F6 doesn't switch it on,- launching BacklitKB.exe from QuickSet says the backlight is on but it's not (I can adjust brightness, timing, turn it off/on but it still won't work),- reinstalling the QuickSet doesn't work,- Windows Mobility Center lists the backlit keyboard, but doesn't bring it on;- putting it to sleep and waking it up also doesn't work as well as restarting it.

After I left my laptop to install the updates from the HP Support Assistant (One of those updates being a BIOS update), I came back to find my computer restarted and my backlit keyboard not working. After trying to use the HP OMEN Control to fix the keyboard, I found that the keyboard will flash briefly when I click "Apply To All Zones", but then immediately turns off again. Is there any way to fix this Backlit Keyboard issue ir can we see an update in the near future that fixes this issue?

Mar 13, 2013How to make my keyboard entries match the keypad layout? I have tried several English keyboard layouts available from the installed files but none of them exactly match my layout. For instance one layout (English International) require a space after every " or ' before the character will appear. I can understand this as it allows for certain special characters related to other languages. If I change to plain English then the key comes out as #. I have downloaded Microsoft's keyboard mapping application but it does not seem to work in Win8. I don't get any layout diagrams when I load a keyboard file. I am pretty sure it is the layout file because an external keyboard gives the exact same characters as the Dell factory installed kbd. I know there is commercial mapping software available but I don't want to buy it and find it won't work just as Microsoft's doesn't.

I have tried uninstalling AMD driver and install a new driver from dell website(A04). But driver uninstalled with errors and i am unable to install a new driver. Now I am unable to select switchable graphics.

1) Backlight not working, not sure whether I've this service or not because I can't see anything in Windows Mobility Centre
2) Keyboard and mouse pad works in safe mode but not in normal mode.
When I tried to remove Cypress trackpad, only mouse pad worked, not keyboard. Now only keyboard is working after Cypress trackpad reinstallation? I've tried to resolve it many times using drivers updater but failed all the time.

Aug 16, 2009I got a Dell Studio 1737 through the Dell Outlet, and after a little while the Num Lock light stopped working. The button still turns it on and off, and I've been debating calling and having to deal with them to get a replacement. Another option I've been thinking about is replacing it outright with the backlit keyboard.
My question is this. What will doing this outside of Dell do to the warranty? The Caps Lock light does still come on, so I'm thinking it's an issue with the light, and if I have to replace it, I might as well go with the better one.

Apr 21, 2009I recently bought an M4400 from the Dell Outlet. Unfortunately, the one that had everything else I wanted didn't have the backlit keyboard.
From looking at the service manual, it looks like a keyboard swap is pretty easy, but I can't find anywhere (including Dell Parts) to buy the actual keyboard (whose part numbers appear to be either G077C or 330-0825, depending on where you look).
