I recently had my computer wiped and reloaded, due to a wifi connectivity problem. Now the wifi adapter is working, but my backlit keyboard no longer turns on.

I also requested Microsoft Word which is not installed. I guess that i have to download the software from the internet which i do not have access to on a regular basis.

I've looked for a solution at community.dell.com/support-forums: - pressing Fn+F6 doesn't switch it on,- launching BacklitKB.exe from QuickSet says the backlight is on but it's not (I can adjust brightness, timing, turn it off/on but it still won't work),- reinstalling the QuickSet doesn't work,- Windows Mobility Center lists the backlit keyboard, but doesn't bring it on;- putting it to sleep and waking it up also doesn't work as well as restarting it.
Original Win 8 Pro, then updated to 8.1 Pro, the back lit keyboard works OK. However since I refreshed the system due to the hangs up problem at start up, the back lit key board stops working. Re-updated the OS back to 8.1 Pro again still not solve the issue.Does the backlit key board need special driver ? The device manager shows the keyboard as standard PS2

After I left my laptop to install the updates from the HP Support Assistant (One of those updates being a BIOS update), I came back to find my computer restarted and my backlit keyboard not working. After trying to use the HP OMEN Control to fix the keyboard, I found that the keyboard will flash briefly when I click "Apply To All Zones", but then immediately turns off again. Is there any way to fix this Backlit Keyboard issue ir can we see an update in the near future that fixes this issue?

I have checked every ribbon on this keyboard and everything is snug. I am running windows 8.1. Am I missing something here. Is it a hardware or software issue i need to look into?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy pavilion g6 laptop's wifi adapter hasn't been working correcty recently. my internet router and networks are running fine as they should be, but every time i reboot my laptop, it keeps saying that there is no connection and no other wifi netowrks, when there clearly is other networks because of my surrounding neighbours.
I have tried a system restore to resolve the problem, but it has no affect and my norton is affecting the system restore of disabling the antivirus.

I'm using HP Pavilion Dv4 3106tx. I do'nt know what happened but out of no where my wifi adapter somehow stopped working. whenever I enable my wifi button, the bluetooth only works and the wifi icon that usually shows on the lower right of the Taskbar doesn't show. I also checked the Device manager>Network Adapters, the wifi adapter is not there. I also tried "Scan for hardware changes" but still there is no Wifi adapter showing up.
Right now I'm just connecting through ethernet for internet connection because my wifi is not working.
I am trying to reinstall my Dell Inspiron N 5110 (after my wireless connection was disabled (I dont know how) and my efforts to reenable the wireless connection were useless). While I tried to install the drivers, the drivers suitable, as identified by dell software, was for ethernet and none of the wireless/bluetooth drivers where selected as suitable. When I go to the device manager I couldnt see any wireless adapters that need drivers.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a 3444-CUU that I really love. When I first got it I realised the wireless adapter would just randomly stop working. I updated every possible driver and I'm still having the same issues. All I can do is reset the adapter to get it kicking again. I'm not sure if the wifi care is soldered or if it could be removed or replaced but I'm really leaning towards it being a hardware issue.
It'll either stop working could turkey, won't detect any wireless networks or it'll stop working and I can still view other wireless networks but I cannot connect to them. Resetting the adapter is the only option. As I'm writing this right now the wireless has gone out again. So I have to reset the adapter for 5-10 more minutes of internet just so that I can post this.
My laptop is HP Pavilion dv6-3055tx and has win 7 ultimate 64bit installed. From past few days, i noticed that three keys of my keyboard are not working whenever the wifi key is ON.
These keys are:
1-Delete
2-Left Arrow
3-Right arrow
When i turn off wifi key, it works normally. I don't know what the problem really is?
In the past, I used to have an hp pavalion laptop. I usually kept the screen at a little past half brightness and in 3 years, the screen no longer even turns on which means the backlight is dead. The same thing is true for my mother's 17 inch lcd monitor. Now I realize that this may just be bad luck, but I don't want to risk anything with my new macbook.
What's a "safe" level to leave the brightness at? And is the LED long lasting? Is it expensive to replace? I hate dim screens but I don't want this screen to die that fast, I want to make this last AT LEAST 8 years.
I bought my HP 15 a few days ago and since yesterday (after I restarted it) it can't find my network. Also, sometimes it finds all the surrounding networks, sometimes one or two, sometimes none of them, but it never shows mine.
All my other devices connect to the network just fine and also when I connect the laptop via Ethernet cable internet works normally. I tried reinstalling the adapter and driver, but nothing happens, the problem is still here.
I'm not quite sure why this no longer charges. (Acer Aspire 5610 series) I made sure that I wrapped it correctly (not wrapping around the battery)...are there any alternatives that I may use instead of purchasing brand new from acer itself? I previously purchased one from ebay that was pure garbage. The charge lasted for all of about 10 minutes and the mousepad was dysfunctional with the charger plugged in.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell XPS m140 when I use the ac adapter without the battery inserted the laptop powers up fine. When I insert the battery and the ac adapter the adapter turns off after a few seconds. If I unplug the ac adapter and do it again the same thing occurs. When I remove the battery and use the ac adapter after I unplug it from the wall the laptop will power up again. I don't know if the ac adapter is not strong enough to charge the battery and boot up. I tried just having the battery in and not turning on the laptop to see if the battery would charge and the ac adapter turns off after a few moments. Can a battery have a short in it to cause this or is the adapter finally going south? I tested the adapter and it shows 19.5v. when the adapter light goes off it tests 0. After I unplug it and replug it, it shows 19.5v again.I don't know where to go from here, new battery or new adapter.
View 9 Replies View RelatedMonth ago x200 works well. I leave it on table for a mont and do not use it at all. But now, x200 turns on only with inserted AC adapter charger. It does not turn on with only inserted battery (without AC adapter charger), just nothing happend when I press power button.
But battery charges and program "Thinkpad Power Manager" detects battery and it's charge. Battery is ok (tested on another X200 and works well).
I have a Dell E4310, about 2 years old. When I connect the charger just to a power socket the green light on the charger comes on but when I plug the other end into the laptop the green light on the charger goes off, I have taken the battery off the laptop and it still does the same thing, and in both cases the laptop will not power up and no light appears on it.

Is it planned for the future? I'm just gonna be pissed if I get it and a month later or whatever HP says the 15 will have backlit keys.
