I had to install a new hard drive into my above laptop, eventually i've gotten everything working except the above video card which allows me access to wireless networks. i can't get the internet at all on my pc so i'll need to be able to save down the drivers on to disk then install on pc. Where i'll find the drivers.
View 13 RepliesA few days ago I lost the internet at home. I can connect fine with an ethernet cable, and another computer in the house runs fine off of wifi, so the only problem is my WIFI.
The WIFI or WLAN doesn't show up under Network adapters nor Other Devices in Device Manager. I would have tried a system restore but it happened before the last restore point
In the BIOS, it says the WLAN is switched on
The wireless switch on the side on the laptop is ON
Under Network and Sharing centre, I click Change Adapter Settings, and there is no Icon for the WLAN. Only a LAN connection.
My WIFI card has completely disappeared.
My Dell 1505 wireless N card is a constant headache, If I hide my ssid the card detects and connects to my router but I can never access the internet. It may work sometimes but most of the time my SSID has to be on.
I have tested this with two different routers and the results were the same, vista shows local access only

I have tried using drivers from laptopvideo2go and reimaging the computer, I am now fed up and want to get a new wifi car
well, before i re-installed windows, my graphics and gaming graphics were at 3.8+ but now it's at 1

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an inspiron 1720 which came equipped with an Nvidia 8600m GT. I have had it for a few months but recently found that my laptop says that I do not have a graphics card.
I went to Personalization>Display Settings>Adapter and found that it said my chip type: <unavailable> The same for adapter type, DAC type etc.
Also it said that my total graphics memory was <unavailable> and that my dedicated video memory etc was N/A.
I have 4 GB of RAM
I just downgraded to XP and now the OS reports that I only have 3 GB of RAM
Where did the other 1 GB go?

When the card arrived, I try to install it & unfortunately, it cant fit in...I google the net & just found out that the AG660 is using a 32 bit pcmcia card bus adapter & my inspiron 1420 is equipped with (maybe) an express card slot..

im having a problem with my 1525 inspiron laptop, which i have had for a couple of years. The problem started when installed windows 7. My wireless minicard stops working anytime i try playing an online game. The mouse starts freezing and then the wireless card would stop working. I'm not even sure how it suddenly disappeared in the first place. The reason why I want this icon to always be there is so that I can tell how much battery power I have left on my laptop. Also, when I am charging my laptop battery and letting my laptop run on AC power, the battery icon turns into the AC power icon.How do I get it to reappear? I've seen the recent commotion about the 9-cell battery missing from the m1530 configuration page. Just today, as I was looking at the m1530 again, I noticed that I could not get WUXGA on any of the configurations. I know that these may both simply be coincidences as the parts are out of stock, but do you think this is part of the slow death of the m1530, meaning that the XPS 1540 is coming soon?
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy Dell Vostro 1540 , which I turn off every night - NOT standby or hibernate -- boots up at exactly 14:10pm every day.
If the power supply is not connected it doesn't --- that is until I plug the power supply in at anytime past 14:10pm then it boots up without touching the power button.
The bios is current - looks very basic - and there are no timers or wake up commands set anywhere I can see.
In fact I can't see ANY settings that can be altered by "time".
I have restored factory bios defaults with same result. Is there access to a hidden menu for power settings in the bios somewhere.

its my dads laptop, a dell vostro 1540 just over a year old i believe and its running 7, in recent times it has been taking a good 10 mins (yesterday half an hour) to automatically connect to the internet, the router is downstairs and the laptop is used upstairs and its getting a signal of about 3-4 bars.

I've got no major complaints with it, it has always worked well and gets pretty good range but I'm looking to boost the range a bit. I see that the atheros cards get good reviews on the forums. My question is, would getting one of these cards boost my range? Many times the intel card will detect a network with a weak signal, but will not be able to actually connect to it. Can any of you suggest a good wireless card that would be compatible with my pc? Which atheros card should I buy? I just want to make sure its compatible. I recently went out of town and was trying to pick up a signal with the laptop, and I found over 10 networks but the card had trouble connecting with any of them. (most were showing 2 bars for signal strength)For the record I realize distance and obstructions limit the range of any card, but mine seems to lack the power to punch through, but works just fine at home and holds a 100% signal. I am trying to stay with the mini pci express cards that I can put inside the laptop instead of pcmcia cards.

I have a Latitude XT running Vista 32bit, 64GB SSD, Bluetooth 360, and Dell 1395 WLAN card. My issue has been when I am pulling or sending large amounts of information accross the network, my Wireless stops functioning and acts as if I disabled the card. I cannot search for any networks and opening the mobility center I can turn the wireless off and on but it will not work till I reboot the Tablet.
My XT has all the current OS and Driver updates but this is really starting to bug me. This happened to me 2 times yesterday when I was copying an Adobe Standard 8 DVD to a server so that we can do installs without needing to carry the DVD. I would get about half way through the file transfer and my network would disconnect with a red X.
Just upgraded my internet to 50mb and they'll be sending a new router with it -
a Netgear Wireless-N Router Wnb2100.
