View 1 RepliesI have a brand new Dell Insprion 1545. Everything has been good on it, and then all the sudden today the touchpad became totally unresponsive.
The pointer doesn't move AT ALL when the touchpad is touched. Luckily, I have a USB mouse, but having to use it kind of takes away the portability.
but it's entirely possible that I made some sort of stupid error or changed some setting to make the touchpad unresponsive.
I have a Inspiron 1545 and the touchpad is so sensitive that when I am typing, if my thumb touches the pad it usually moves the curser somewhere else on the screen and I continue typing in the middle of a different sentence.Is it possible to switch off the touchpad as I use a mouse almost 100% of the time on it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedPurolator dropped off the laptop today and I was quite excited. I tried the Bluray and it's definitely worth the extra money. However, some things are going wrong.
First, the damn touchpad sucks. I want Synaptics back. But at this point all I can do is BAWW about it, so whatever. But when I try to install the drivers, the cursor flips out every time I touch the pad at all. It goes all over the screen in random directions.
Second, my bluetooth doesn't seem to be working. I installed the drivers on Windows Vista and Windows 7, but neither of them yielded results. The drivers install without a problem and then tell me to enable Bluetooth using the radio button. The radio button is already enabled, as Wi-Fi is working, but there is still no Bluetooth option in the Control Panel or anywhere else for that matter.
Third, Bluray movies seem to not work with WMP. What's the problem? If it's not supported, what program do you guys suggest I use for Bluray movies?
Fourth, no matter what I do, Catalyst Control Center just won't install. The drivers are there, but CCC just won't work at all, let alone show up in my desktop context menu.
My touchpad driver keeps disappearing and its the only way I can disable the touchpad - I much prefer to use the mouse and I am a touch typist so the touchpad is a nuisance. Unfortunately I don't seem to be able to find a win 8 touchpad driver or other way of disabling the touchpad - win 8 even on a standard laptop is magic and has improved my older laptop no end but its now annoying me due the limitation of drivers and the fact that the only way one can disable the pad is via the driver settings?

I have found the adjustments but have not been able to decrease the sensitivity to my liking. So, I disabled the touchpad and installed a wireless mouse that I had used in the past but it now appears to have quit working. Is there a way to get to the control panel to re-enable the touchpad?

How on earth can I get my Inspiron 1545 with an Alps touchpad to have 2 finger scrolling similar to Mac systems? Is it even possible?

Downloaded new driver (ALPS Touchpad v7.1007.115.102. A05) no less than 3 times and had a partial success. Now right half of touchpad is ok but left half can only respond to up/down finger movements.
Run Dell diagnostics and all hardware is ok.
Run a full antiVirus scan and ok. Laptop says new driver is ok and running ok.
Touchpad does not work in BIOS and done a full diagnostic check and said the touchpad is fine!
Use of mouse is ok so not the end of the world!

I wish to disable the touch pad on my Inspiron 1545 with Windows 8.. I have a Logitech wireless mouse. Currently both the mouse and the touch pad operate the curser. I want to only use the mouse. In Windows 7 the default was mouse only as soon as the wireless interface was installed. This is not the case with Windows 8.
I've been told to go to the Device driver and select the touch pad under Mouse and other pointers. The touch pad is not listed. I've tried disabling the PC Mouse compatible but the disable button is inactive.
On my Aspire M5 my pointer disappeared and touchpad is non-responsive. How do I get them back for use?

I have an HP Chromebook 14. Two issues, one the mouse arrow has disappeared while using the touch pad. The cursor (arrow) reappears when I plug in a wireless mouse. Second I have seen where it says to hit the Esc+Refresh+Power and this might regain the mouse cursor. Where or what the "Refresh Button is".

Could this be related to the Microsoft Bad KB.......69 update? I have not installed any new software recently.
I can only use the pen to access menus. How can I remove recent KB installations using just the pen?
I have managed to remove the bad MS update but to improvement. Next I added a new user (also set as administrator) and the trackpad and touch pad function is now working normally but only with the new user account.
Can remove my own Administrator Account and what effect this will have, i.e. what data might I lose? Can I save data and reinstall it to a new account?
Anyone know something about if dell xps at least that ones sold in 2008 will support those new drivers with gesture control??

I had to install a new hard drive into my above laptop, eventually i've gotten everything working except the above video card which allows me access to wireless networks. i can't get the internet at all on my pc so i'll need to be able to save down the drivers on to disk then install on pc. I'm not even sure how it suddenly disappeared in the first place. The reason why I want this icon to always be there is so that I can tell how much battery power I have left on my laptop. Also, when I am charging my laptop battery and letting my laptop run on AC power, the battery icon turns into the AC power icon.How do I get it to reappear? I recently upgraded my dell inspiron m5110 from windows 7 home premium to windows 8 Professional from the online store at microsoft. I am quite annoyed about my trackpad getting in the way while typing. the cursor will sometimes unclick, jump onto another part of whatever I am typing or click onto everything and erase it! since i have downloaded windows 8 i have not found a way too disable the trackpad. i use a seperate mouse and i want to permanently disable my track pad.

I ordered two basic Inspiron 1545's on March 16th. $479 each on the one day special.
Dell says it will arive on April 6th. Does Dell usually take this long to deliver?
Both have Dual Core Pentiums. Can they be upgraded to Core 2 Duo later? Are the CPU's soldered on the main board?
Ram is limited to four gigabytes, even though the laptop uses a 64-bit CPU. Is this something that might be fixed in a future BIOS upgrade?
Is there any way to upgrade the onboard graphics? I found an ExpressCard chasis that has PCI express slots, but it costs over $700. I could build a PC for less than that. Do I have any other options?
I just looked at the pictures and specs of the new Inspiron 1525 replacement, 1545, and I couldn't believe what I have read. No HDMI port, no firewire port, only 3 USB ports, no modem, no eSATA. Also, it is 15.6" 16:9 screen, which is fine, if they offer higher than 1366x768. It is more like the 13" Inspiron than the old 1525 to me. I think Dell is going to re-align Inspiron as a cheap line like the HP Presario line. Dell Studio will compete with HP Pavilion.
