Lenovo ThinkPad L R/SL :: Touchpad Sensitivity Could Be Adjusted Via The Control Panel
Aug 11, 2008
My touchpad is supersensitive and if I get anywhere near it I find I have selected text or opened a link or done some other activity that I didn't want to do.A previous thread said that the sensitivity could be adjusted via the Control Panel. Well, I have it at its lowest, and it doesn't seem to act any differently. I do not want to disable the touchpad, just make it act normally.

Have a Dell 11z (1110) running w7 ultimate (x64) with all the updates, and cannot adjust the sensitivity. Problem is when typing, the slightest brush of the touchpad causes the cursor to jump. And I mean the *slightest* touch! A mere brush of atoms on the touchpad causes the cursor jump. I have read and tried many of the suggestions form Dell and Windows communities, and nothing works. There is no touchpad sensitivity - anywhere!
Here's what I've tried:
1. Hide pointer does not work. Unchecked and checked the box several times. No effect. There is no adjustment from within the "mouse properties". Trust me, it's not there.
2. Dell offers both the Elantech and Synaptics drivers. I am an experienced Synaptics user. I only want the Synaptics one because it supports standard scrolling on the trackpad, among other nice functions. The Elantech "gesture" is junk (I am surprised that Dell offers it, but that's a topic for another
day). The Synaptics driver should offer a nice suite of tools, among which is a touchpad sensitivity tool: it's not there. The only capabilities that show up are "buttons". I removed and reloaded Dell Synaptics drivers several times, rebooting after the uninstall every time. Nothing but the simplest tool is available.
3. I downloaded the drivers (several in fact from various releases) from Synaptics and got no improvement. The touchpad is not adjustable.
4. In desperation I installed the Alps driver, and although it functioned ok it did not have the any capabilities beyond Synaptics.
5. I downloaded several drivers from other vendors and got the same result: no touchpad sens adjustment capability.
6. Tried several 32 bit drivers: some installed (probably because they had a hidden 64 bit install option). No change!
So bottom line: I cannot adjust the trackpad. No matter what I do.

I have an Inspiron 15R laptop and I have found the touchpad to be very, very sensitive. I have found the adjustments but have not been able to decrease the sensitivity to my liking. So, I disabled the touchpad and installed a wireless mouse that I had used in the past but it now appears to have quit working. Is there a way to get to the control panel to re-enable the touchpad?

I have a new E431 with Win 8 installed.
I cannot adjust the senisitivity of the touchpad or see the icon in the task bar.
The icon shows up in the customize window but I can't get it to the taskbar.
I have installed the driver here [URL].... and also here
[URL]...
I've uninstalled and re installed but nothing works. The touchpad is virtually useless as it is so sensitive.

I own one Lenovo E430. By now he is running Windows7, fully patched and updated. My issue is related with ultra-high touching sensitivity of the TouchPad. The TouchPad can react even on cloth touch.
This is problem for me, because I use TrackPoint, I don't have external keyboard and during high utilization extra unwanted clicks lead to unpredicted events. So, my question is how can I disable the Touchpoint.

My Acer 5520 came with the touchpad set so sensitive that by just by passing over icons I am opening windows that I dont want to. My sisters older Acer also has an "Alps" touchpad with Alps driver and under the tapping tab in the mouse window she has a "touch sensitivity" button that adjusts from light----to-----heavy touch and thats all I need.
After checking various computer stores that carry Acer and other brands it seems that some have this feature and some dont. Annoyingly also is the fact that no-one in the sales dept in these stores knows what I'm talking about and when I show them they say it's the first time they've encountered it. Surely if I'm spending over $1000. for a new notebook I should be able to control this. I have tried updating the driver from the Acer websight. Both the Synaptics and Alps drivers they offer don't have this control either. Some Acers however have it and they are not necessarily the upscale or newest models. So what gives?

Has anyone here had touchpad issues on their vaio laptops? There will be times when I'll be typing and the curssor just skips to a different place randomly which messes up the flow of the sentence that I'm typing. My fingers didn't even touch the touchpad and the cursor jumps.
Maybe its the heat that is exerted from my hands but the fact remains that even though I don't touch the touchpad, the cursor will still move to a different place.
the model is a CS-390J.

ThinkPad Edge, Win 7 Sp1. For the last month I have had a problem with the control key always down. Programs react as if the control key were pressed. MS Word 7 gives an error message that the control key is down and asks if I want to go to Safe Mode. I have had the keyboard replaced with no change. The computer has been thoroughly checked, all drivers, patches, software upgrades have been made by my Tech, and the Bios has been flashed.
Last week, I found a post on Google for Win XP where the poster had the same problems. The fix was to ensure that the Sticky Keys were turned off in Ease of Access on the Control Panel. I went to Ease of Access and turned off all of the selections, and the fix seemed to work. However, yesterday the problem reoccurred. I don't know if it is a problem with the motherboard, hardware, or with Windows. It appears that this problem affects more than one version of Windows.

After you adjust the touchpad properties like double click speed and cursor speed is there a way to keep these settings? Everytime the computer restarts I have to go back into touchpad mouse properties and readjust everything.

My cursor is as spaztic as a Mexican jumping bean. It costs many seconds and numerous nerve endings just to get it to land on the scroll bar correctly. I need to calm down the touchpad's sensitivity. My notebook is an Aspire E3-111-C4GX running Win 8.1. Already turned off taps, changed cursor speed, etc. Must get to its sensitivity level wherever that is.

I have had my notebook for 10 days. The cursor jumps so badly that the computer is almost unusable for anything but reading email or web browsing. The only way I can prevent the cursor from jumping is to dsiable the touchpad by using Fn+F7. There is no sensitivity setting in the Mouse properties.

I tried reinstalling the drivers but haven't figured out a way to get it to come back. I know its bloat, but I liked having the extra control over the sound...

Yesterday, after just a month of ownership, the display panel on my ThinkPad Yoga S1 became defective. All of a sudden, when I undocked it (after shutting down normally), the only thing that appeared on the display was a whitish image containing a dark grey vertical band (left), which happens to be the Lenovo splash screen background! The laptop runs perfectly fine when docked because it attaches to an external monitor. I tried fiddling with the Yoga's display panel, rotating through its various configurations and, after a while, a partial windows screen did appear although it flickered and, even still, nothing displayed properly in that left most vertical strip! Undocked, the laptop was and is completely unusable...

I just got my X1 Carbon with touch screen preinstalled with WIndows 8.1.
Wonderful machine, but I hate Windows 8. I can say a lot about that, but let's just state tha fact that I'm not compatible with Windows 8.
Can I install Windows 7 intead? If so, how? Since there's no DVD drive in the system.
And if I install Windows 7, will I lose touch funtionality? WIll I lose other things? (apart from things in Windows 8 of course)

This is on an M6400 with Windows 7 64-bit. I installed dell's newest drivers for Windows 7 64-bit, and everything seems to be working fine, but I don't have the Bluetooth item in Control Panel. That becomes an issue if I turn the Bluetooth radio off from the tray icon, because if I do so, the tray icon is gone, and there's no easy way to turn the radio back on.
So, does anybody know how to fix this?

Just installed 3dMark06 and Fear2. When I ran 3dMark06 i got ~11.800 points, after reading on several sites and comparing the scores it seemed pretty average/ even good.
I then tried Fear2, I maxed out the setting 1920x1200 / High / 0x AA /4xAF, it ran pretty smooth but then the trouble started..
It began every 5 or 6 seconds to stutter, the game would stop responding and the screen would freeze for a second..
Thinking it was the settings I put it down to 1280 and medium, no difference in fps and the stuttering was still there..
I tried Counter-strike, Prototype, Fallout 3 and a couple of other games, still the stutter in every single game..
In the nVidia contol panel I have disengaged the V-sync.
My speccs are 8800GTX SLI, T9300, 4gb Ram and Windows 32 bit Vista. I have updated all the drivers to the latest drivers and I have also made sure that PhysX is disabled.
The machine just came out of the factory so all the Dell software is still installed.
How can I manage to fix the stuttering problem?
I am also thinking about going over to Windows 7 seeing that it is free and supports 64-bit.

I have installed Windows 8 on a HP dv6-6096 nr which I purchased in may 2011. I did an upgrade from Windows 7 Home Premium. Every time, I hightlight control panel, the machine reverts back to the desktop. How do I fix this?
I thave updated my video drivers. I an't tell waht other devices are not usiable in Windows 8.
I figured that I can go a clean install and all should work but I don't know if I can re-install under Windows 8.
Here is an update:The HP dvd6-6096nr used NON-STANDARD function which folks at HP, Microsoft and Microcenter have been made aware of. So the ways to get into Safe mode, Shift F8 is the easy way. For me, that doesn’t work. Using Windows key +x, lets me run msconfig.Using msconfig and booting into safe mode, action center tells me that I need to install 3 drivers: (Intel Bluetooth wireless driver, HP power management and Intel wireless display). Those were installed.I rebooted the machine, Control panel still crashes.Rebooted into safe mode, action center still shows that I need to install these 3 drivers.Since Microsoft makes it nearly impossible to boot windows to update drivers, that is where I am at. My choice is (1) install Windows 8 (not upgrade) or forget about Windows 8. The problem is (1) will Windows 8 re-activate and if other licensed software will re-install?

CW26FX - Anyone having trouble getting their video color settings to stick? I have adjusted my screen brightness/color/contrast via the NVidia Control Panel, but I periodically lose my settings. Initially there was a conflict with the VAIO Control Center - display settings there superseded whatever I did in the NVidia Control Panel. I eventually figured out how to get the NVidia Control Panel settings to stick by changing the display settings in the VAIO Control Center first - or at least I thought I did. It would work for a few reboots, but eventually I seemed to lose my settings again. So I uninstalled the VAIO Control Center hoping that would leave my NVidia Control Panel settings alone. But lo & behold I still periodically lose those settings (the NVidia Control Panel radio button "Other applications control color settings" is inexplicably selected.) Any ideas? (And yes, I hit "Apply" before closing out the NVidia Control Panel.)

I can't adjust screen brightness using either function key or in control panel. Using the function key the little panel of brightness volume shows up on the screen but does nothing. And in control panel, through either the bottom brightness scroll or the power option won't change anything. Only time when the brightness will change is I unplug the power, but in the power settings it won't let me change/adjust the brightness.
And what is the battery function key for? I press it and it does nothing. XPS L521x

I have a zbook with a nvidia quadro 610m graphics. I cannot get the gpu to save settings or engage when playing games. It was working until I tried to give windows 8 a try.I did a fresh install of windows 8. Then I installed the hp drivers cd that came with workstation. Everything says it completed successfully and I've rebooted multiple times.
When I open the nvidia control panel, none of the settings I change stick. E.g. tell every program to use the 610m. I click apply it looks like it was successful. However, if I open the nvidia control panel again, all changes are reverted. I restarted after hitting apply too. It doesnt matter what the changes are, they all revert.
I'm guessing I screwed up with the driver install or something but IDK.The device manager says that the 610m is working properly and the driver is up do date.
